Joan Jett to executive produce and star in movie

Rocker Joan Jett is set to return to the big screen to star in and executive produce romantic comedy Undateable John.

In the film, which also stars Daryl Hannah, Tom Arnold and Shannen Doherty, Jett will play a California folk singer, who becomes friends with an oddball couple at an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting, according to Deadline.com.

Jett will also contribute songs to the movie's soundtrack.

Last month (Sep13), Jett released her first album, Unvarnished, since 2006.

Her previous screen credits include Lock & Roll Forever, Light of Day and appearances on TV shows Law & Order...

Hannah, who once dated Jackson Browne and the late John F. Kennedy Jr. was "terrified" of revealing her struggles to movie producers and refused to do interviews to promote her films.

Daryl Hannah was arrested in Texas on Thursday night while protesting against the construction of an oil pipeline.

The Roxanne actress, a longtime environmental campaigner, has been leading a demonstration against the controversial Keystone XL pipeline, which is being built to transfer crude oil from Canada to refineries on the Gulf Coast.

She was arrested on Thursday along with 78-year-old Eleanor Fairchild on suspicion of criminal trespassing and resisting arrest after they stood in front of construction equipment.

The pair was taken to the Wood County Jail in Quitman, Texas.
