'Best New Artist' Winner Justin Bieber Rocks The MTV VMAs (Pics & Video)

September 13th, 2010 1:00pm EDT
Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber didn't know he was going to win Best New Artist at MTV's VMAs last night, and he campaigned hard for the honor with his performance before the awards show - playing his usual hits and treating the crowd to a drum solo.

While it was Lady Gaga's night, Bieber is most certainly going to try and beat her stunning 8 awards somewhere down the line. A Best New Artist statue is the perfect start - Lady Gaga won that award last year.

Bieber Tweeted after his win: "Wow. What?? R U Kidding. What!!?! Hahahaha. Wow. Wow wow wow. Thanks... we did it!! Wooohoooooo!!! Can't stop smiling! ...

Chelsea Handler
Yesterday, Chelsea Handler announced she will be hosting this years MTV VMA's on her E! show 'Chelsea Lately'. During the show she said, “Everyone knows that when you think of rap music and hip-hop, you think of 'Chelsea Lately,' and that's why I will be hosting." In a seperate interview she said, “It’s a relaxed show, so people aren’t as uptight. It’s not the Grammys; it’s not as serious as that. It’s an MTV audience, so I’m sure some people won’t know who I am. But by the end of the show, I won’t know who anybody is, just like I don’t now.”

When I heard the announcement, I kind of ...

Ashley Greene's Rolls Royce Fan Mail

June 24th, 2010 9:36pm EDT
Ashley Greene
"Twilight" star Ashley Greene turned a fan's dream into reality during an appearance on late-night chat show "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Wednesday - when she brought along the odd gift he had asked her to sign.

The devotee, called Ken, sent the actress his Bentley and Rolls Royce owners manual to sign and a FedEx envelope with his details, so she could send it back to him.

Thinking the item and Ken's request were interesting topics of conversation, she took them on the show with her and presented them to host Jimmy Kimmel, asking him to sign the manual too.

Greene said, "That's the kind of fa...

Elizabeth Banks Talks Movies Vs TV And Twitter

May 20th, 2010 10:00am EDT
Elizabeth Banks
Elizabeth Banks may be best known as a bawdy film star (Zack & Miri Make a Porno, Role Models) amongst some demographics, but she has had great success crossing over onto the smaller screen in Scrubs and now 30 Rock, as well. Banks took some time out of her busy production schedule (she has three movies readying for releases and six more in development!) to chat with Starpulse about her career, her role as cable news reporter Avery Jessup, and even the benefits of Twitter over Facebook.

Banks has a knack for comedy, though she has taken a few more serious roles in her day. She admits that ...

Jimmy Fallon Falls & Cuts Hand During Martini Race With Chelsea Handler

March 11th, 2010 12:45pm EST
Jimmy-Fallon-Cut-Hand-03111
Jimmy Fallon challenged fellow TV talk show host & vodka lover Chelsea Handler to a Martini race on his show Tuesday night, but didn't fare so well.

Fallon raced down the aisle through his studio audience and ran on stage at full speed carrying two Martinis before appearing to hit a wet spot on the floor caused by some of the liquid Handler was pouring during their contest. Fallon's feet came right out from under him and he went down hard, cutting his hand from the broken Martini glasses.

After the incident, Handler said, "I'm so glad that was you that fell;" to which Fallon exclaimed, "...

Hopes For 2010

January 5th, 2010 12:00pm EST
Hopes for 2010
It's a new year, and it's time to dump the Top Ten lists and look forward to the things we hope to see in the near future. What do we want to see more of? What do we want to see end? Who do we want to see naked? The questions are endless, so here goes:

I hope Megan Fox reconsiders her "no nudity on camera" stance. Halle Berry showed frontal in Swordfish, then did an explicit sex scene in Monster's Ball, and then she got an Oscar. Just saying.

I hope Lost doesn't fall into its disturbingly common habit of making absolutely no sense for episodes at a time. I also hope the finale is rev...

Fearless Females in Comedy

November 18th, 2009 11:23am EST
Leslie Mann
Buried under a mountain of dick jokes and sweaty, hairy men, the one shining go-to for laughs in Universal Studios' "Funny People" was supporting actress Leslie Mann. No stranger to the boys' club, Mann is a graduate of the "Apatow School" but has proved herself to be more than a worthy opponent when stealing scenes - regardless of whether or not the man behind the camera was in her family (the two have been married since 1997). Though she has been in this business for almost twenty years, Mann has only been getting the critical acclaim she so richly deserves in the last few.

Mann can be...

Michael Ausiello Q&A Part 2: Celebrity Status, His Dream Job, & Which Star He's Afraid Of Running Into

October 1st, 2009 11:04am EDT
Michael Ausiello
The first part of this interview focused on "Entertainment Weekly" writer Michael Ausiello's beginnings in the field of media journalism. We intended to look at his work and concept of celebrity, but it turned into something more.

The difference between a good journalist and a great journalist is a sense of humility. A great journalist sees each new assignment as a piece that must stand alone, rather than as part of a legacy. To the great journalist, their job is to serve the audience fresh interviews and articles. They are competitive, ambitious, and are not looking to have their ego...

Why Are You Even On Right Now? TV's Worst Personalities

June 19th, 2009 11:19am EDT
Ryan Seacrest
There are some TV personalities that make you want to change the channel. Here's a short list of the most annoying ones:

Daisy (From Daisy of Love):

Vh1 must be running out of ideas for shows to have given one of Rock of Love's most inarticulate, irritating, and unattractive contestants her own reality competition. The only thing slightly interesting about Daisy De LaHoya is the fact that her uncle is Oscar De LaHoya. We think that might have something to do with the fact that she has her own show, unimaginatively and nonsensically titled Daisy of Love. Or, it could be that Vh1 is try...

A Look At The Evolution Of The Web Series

September 10th, 2008 11:46am EDT
Chelsea Handler
It's pretty apparent that the emergence of original programming on the internet, debuting at only minute-and-a-half to three minute clips, was geared directly at the teenage set-- playing into the whole shortening attention span and need to get their entertainment from the same rectangular box that they get the research for their term papers and with which they network and communicate with friends. Web series, as they were deemed, didn't officially become an official part of new media until they began to gain widespread popularity with lonelygirl15, a video blog from a so-called teenage gir...

The Most Overrated & Underrated Talk Show Hosts

In recent years, the late night talk show has given way to an avalanche of reruns and trash TV dotting the midnight landscape, making the late night chatfest in itself underrated.

Of course, there are still plenty of these shows to be found around the dial, especially on ABC, NBC and CBS (FOX apparently is still too shell-shocked from "The Chevy Chase Show" to attempt reentry into the fray). There are other spots where these shows can be found thanks to the advent of cable and satellite television leaving enough of a selection for viewers of divergent tastes to find the host they like...
