Jeremy Renner In 'Bourne Legacy' And 10 Other Franchise Recasts

August 9th, 2012 12:07pm EDT
The Bourne Legacy
Jeremy Renner isn't playing Jason Bourne, but he's taking over the Bourne franchise for Matt Damon in The Bourne Legacy. Renner's also not the first actor or actress to become the new face of a franchise. Here are 10 other franchise recasts:

Bruce Banner - Eric Bana/Edward Norton/Mark Ruffalo: Bana signed for three Hulk films, but was replaced by super fan Norton when Marvel re-acquired the rights. Norton re-wrote The Incredible Hulk and starred in a hit, but was unable to come to a deal when a role in The Avengers was available. Ruffalo filled in, and was given positive reviews.

Maggie Gyllenhaal
Maggie Gyllenhaal is stunned by the shock of journalists who have caught early screenings of her new movie about the invention of the vibrator.

The Batman Begins star thought R-rated period comedy Hysteria would be a hoot for critics, but it seems many of them have been left surprised by the film's risqué scenes of uptight women experiencing orgasm.

She tells BlogTalkRadio.com, "I liked the comedy of ladies having loud orgasms in doctor's offices. I watched this movie once in Rome, just sort of popped my head in, and I've talked to a lot of international press in Italy and Scandinavia, ...

She tells BlogTalkRadio, "Everyone tells me I sound like Emma Thompson and that's probably how I learned it... I was just watching Nanny McPhee with my daughter; I had never shown it to her before... and I kept thinking, 'Oh, is my accent OK?' I also did three plays with an English accent - H...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Battleship,' 'The Dictator,' & More

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies
Last week’s Tim Burton/Johnny Depp collaboration “Dark Shadows” turned out to be rather disappointing. The film starts out strong, but loses steam as it progresses. It has plenty of Burton’s trademark grim style with musical accompaniment by Danny Elfman, and some decent humor. However the villain is very one-dimensional, the climax is weak, and in many ways the film feels like a watered-down version of other classic Burton works like “Beetlejuice” and “Edward Scissorhands.” My Grade: C+

At the box office this week, you’ll find the science fiction action flick “Battleship,” the ensemble pr...

Kylie Minogue went too bright, too blingy and too much with a blue dress.

Nanny McPhee
Comparing last week’s films “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” and “The Expendables,” I personally prefer Edgar Wright’s comedy to Stallone’s attempt at an action spectacular. For me “Scott Pilgrim” is the perfect combination of fight scenes, video game references, rock music, and sarcastic humor. If you have not read my review of it yet, check it out here.

“The Expendables” lacks the very minimal character development I think belongs in an action movie. Giant questions remain unanswered such as who these people are, why they are friends, what they have been through together, and why the...

On Thursday night I finally went to see “Crazy Heart” since it was still playing at one of my local theaters. While it’s not always the happiest film, it is grounded and real, like you’re actually following the life of a country musician addicted to the rock star lifestyle, despite being past his prime.

Jeff Bridges gives a deep and nuanced performance as the lead character Bad Blake, convincingly portrays a washed up country singer riding on fumes. Blake’s selfish behavior and penchant for the bottle alienate him from other characters in the film, but Bridges’ kind face and sense of hum...

2010 Oscars Predictions: Who Will Win & Who Should Win
This has the chance to become the most exciting Oscar night ever.

Why? Because nobody seems to have any real clue as to which movie will win Best Picture. “Avatar” seems like a good choice – it made $700 Million, changed movies, James Cameron directs, yada yada yada – but so does “The Hurt Locker” with its crazy critical raves and industry buzz. Compounding the problem is the Weinstein-backed “Inglorious Basterds” which has been gaining momentum all month. It’s a logjam at the top.

This is created not only by the fact that we have ten Best Picture nominees this year, but because the n...

After seeing the list, it's easy to see that the Academy might be on to something. Sure, it would have gotten the biggest blockbuster of all time with "Avatar" earning a Best Picture nomination if there were only five nominees, but it would have missed out on other massive hits like "The Blind Side", "Up", and "District 9".

Now, the telecast is going to get a lot more casual...
