2010 Academy Awards Fashion: Best & Worst

March 8th, 2010 10:54am EST
Oscars 2010 Fashion
There were some definite hits and misses on the red carpet at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards last night. Zoe Salanda and Charlize Theron both opted for purple - Zoe in a Riccardo Tisci ruffled dress and Charlize Theron in a Dior breast-enhancing gown. Miley Cyrus looked quite grown up in a champagne Jennifer Packham ensemble that featured a corset-like top half.

Jennifer Lopez chose an off-white lopsided Armani Prive gown. Cameron Diaz also wore an Armani Prive, but she harkened back to Hollywood glamour in the gold beaded dress. Also opting for beads was Best Actress winner Sandra Bulloc...

Celeb's Dads Who Won't Be The King Of The Castle This Father's Day

June 12th, 2008 8:45am EDT
Jon Voight
He was the guy who took the training wheels off our bikes, let us jump off the top of the fridge when Mom wasn't looking, and the one whose admiration and respect was hard earned and beyond gratifying.

For the lucky majority, Father's Day is an opportunity to express what we usually fail to: how much the guidance of a paternal figure has touched our lives for the better. But what of the unlucky few for whom the idea of Father's Day is a kick in the ribs? Which stars won't be buying a tie, power tools or steak dinner for the old man come June 15?

Celebrity Marriages: What Makes Them Work (Or Not) & Why It May Be Better To Not Marry At All

March 20th, 2008 2:30pm EDT
Eddie Murphy & Tracey Edmonds
Marriage is a sacred union between a loving couple until death do them part. Yet, in the Hollywood community it seems that most marriages end before the honeymoon does. Take Eddie Murphy, for example. He and Tracey Edmonds split this past January after just two weeks of (un)happily wedded bliss.

The probability of a celebrity marriage surviving is only 35 percent, according to enotalone.com. For the most part, celebrity marriages do not have the fairy tale or "movie ending" fans hope they will. Rates of divorce may seem higher in Hollywood than they actually are due to the heavy public...

Amy Adams' Characters Use Feminine Grace & Strong Will To Get What They Want

March 13th, 2008 2:01pm EDT
Amy Adams
For years, Hollywood has celebrated a certain type of empowered women - a strong nosed, uber self-confident, in-your-face fighter who is going to take on the establishment using whatever means necessary to get what she wants. The archetype of this character is Erin Brockovich who famously said "They're called boobs, Ed", and screamed her way from a legal secretary to the chief factor in toppling a billion dollar company that was poisoning its customers.

But in the tradition of Melanie Grifiith's Working Girl, Amy Adams has popularized a new type of woman: one who uses her feminine grac...

Starpulse TV Season In Review

December 5th, 2007 9:20am EST
Private Practice
It's been a bumpy television season full of winners, disappointments and a lot of forgetful folks. Some shows stumbled right out of the gate while others took steady steps towards a full-season pickup.

The TV season is nearing the halfway mark when most of the shows go into reruns, an indefinite period of torture this year thanks to the writers' strike. At least the respite provides the perfect time to take a look back at the season so far. This TV season, the TV gods brought us...

If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It: Starpulse Examines Plastic Surgery Among The Stars

December 4th, 2007 9:55am EST

Beauty is a funny thing. Forever a concern for both the beautiful and un-beautiful alike, attaining and maintaining a consistent level of seemingly effortless attractiveness requires, for most of us, a lot of work.

Saturating our television shows, magazines and movies (with the exception of most French films, to their credit), conventional standards of beauty are as inescapable as they are unrealistic. They demand of us a level of aesthetic perfection that most of us simply cannot deliver - not even with the most expensive pills and potions at our disposal.

So, what's a regular ...

Media Group Predicts Hits & Misses Of The New TV Season

September 13th, 2007 1:34pm EDT
Gossip Girl
Independent media agency TargetCast tcm has picked five new network shows they think will be hits, along with the five they think will fall to the bottom of the heap as the primetime season begins in a week.

NBC has two new shows that should do well, says Steve Farella, CEO of TargetCast tcm, a media planning and buying agency. "Chuck" (Mondays at 8 Eastern), a comedy about a computer geek who becomes the government's most valuable secret agent, looks promising, the agency says. Also on NBC, "Bionic Woman" (Weds, 9 p.m.) should prove popular, borrowing from the 70s hit "Six Million Dol...

Antonio Banderas Uses Fake Swords to Threaten Burglars

November 16th, 2005 9:32am EST
Antonio Banderas
Antonio Banderas uses his sword from movie 'The Mask of Zorro' to ward off burglars.

The handsome actor, who is married to blonde actress Melanie Griffith, keeps the weapon in his home to protect his family from potential criminals.

The protective father, who lives with his wife and daughter, Stella, said: "The sword is stashed in a secret strategic place and I truly pity the burglar who shows up at my house! Though I wonder what I'd tell the authorities... 'Officer, he tried to rob me, so I cut a giant Z into him!'."

The Hollywood heartthrob also admitted he would also use ...
