CBS Not Moving Forward With 'How I Met Your Dad'

Greta Gerwig
CBS finally made a decision on one of its few remaining pilots, the spinoff to How I Met Your Mother. Starring Greta Gerwig, the sitcom came from the same creators and studio as How I Met Your Dad, and some news sites reported that How I Met Your Dad was picked up to series… because why not?

It turns out that CBS didn’t feel the pilot was strong enough, and even offered to order a reshoot. But, because the reshoot didn’t guarantee a series order, the production team refused the deal, and we are now left with a dead series. It is possible to shop the show around, but it’s unlikely that anot...

Top Five Performances
Jason Coleman's Top Five Male & Female Performances

I am very happy for this particular acting "best of" list this year, mostly because notable films that didn’t make it to my Top Ten still had some memorable performances.  So even though movies like "American Hustle," "12 Years A Slave" and "Frances Ha" didn’t make the final film cut, the acting work within is lovingly highlighted here.  From oddballs to slaves, sassy ice cream truck workers to sexy hustlers here are my..."Best of 2013 - Top Five Male & Female Performances."

Ladies first this year!

Trailer Talk: Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' Could Be This Summer's Next Big Blockbuster & More

June 4th, 2012 1:02pm EDT
Prometheus
Arriving in theaters this week are Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated sci-fi vehicle “Prometheus,” the silly computer animated sequel “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted,” the coming-of-age comedy “Lola Versus,” the indie time travel comedy “Safety Not Guaranteed,” the period piece drama “Bel Ami,” the family relationship dramedy “Peace, Love, & Misunderstanding,” and Todd Solondz’s drama “Dark Horse.”

Unfortunately my pick from last week, “Snow White and the Huntsman,” was plagued by bad acting, lackluster action scenes, and farfetched concepts even for a fairy tale. Not only was it diff...

Review: Russell Brand's Lovable Scamp Charms In 'Arthur' Remake

April 8th, 2011 10:55am EDT
Arthur Movie
At this point there is no doubt that British comedian Russell Brand can play an endearing rascal with the greatest of ease. Not only did he portray the wacky rock star Aldous Snow in the romantic comedy “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” but he also reprised the role in the spin-off film “Get Him to the Greek,” which featured the character in his own comically debaucherous adventures.

His latest movie “Arthur,” a remake of a 1981 Dudley Moore picture, has Brand starring in the title role, as a rich ne’er-do-well with a drinking problem. Arthur is a child trapped in a man’s body, but Brand’s l...

Russell Brand's Love For Katy Perry Inspired His 'Arthur' Remake

April 6th, 2011 11:14am EDT
Arthur Movie
This week Russell Brand stars in the remake of Arthur. True to the original, Brand plays a drunk billionaire who falls in love at the risk of his family fortune. In real life, Brand gave up his womanizing ways to marry Katy Perry, and says that inspired him to be the new Arthur.

“Like in Arthur, love has an incredibly transformative quality,” Brand said. “The first thing you do when you fall in love is that you recognize that you’re not the most important person in the world, and your focus becomes another person. The reason the film resonated with me, in the way that it does, is because A...
