'90210' Recap: Help Me, Rhonda

February 4th, 2009 9:45am EST
90210
After two weeks between this episode and the one that left Ethan in a car accident, 90210 returned and Ethan was just fine. The rest of the episode had several potentially interesting story developments, but as usual the episode was all about setup. Annie and Ethan moved in the direction of breaking up just as Silver and Dixon reunited. Adrianna was the only character that seemed to be experiencing any real change this episode.

Thanks to Naomi, Adrianna told Ty at the cast party. It turns out Naomi is annoying whether she's being a friend or a throwing insults. But back to Adrianna an...

'90210' Recap: By Accident

January 21st, 2009 10:23am EST
90210
On last night's expisode of 90210, teacher Ryan came back, Silver and Dixon broke up, and we found out Ty is Adrianna's baby daddy, but it still felt like a slow-paced episode.

Ryan is back, and he's trying something new. Instead of being friends with his students, he's going to be strict. He starts by kicking Silver out of class. Silver, meanwhile, is so wrapped up with trying to get back into Ryan's class that she fails to see her relationship with Dixon falling apart. Dixon avoids Ethan's questions and finally turns to his mom for advice. She tells him to be honest. After Kelly talk...

'90210': Love Me or Leave Me

January 14th, 2009 9:51am EST
90210
90210's latest episode dealt with Adrianna's pregnancy and several key relationships. Annie and Ethan began the show with bare bones dirty talk that led to them both starting the "I Love You" chorus. The three words continued for them the rest of the show and caused problems between even Dixon and Silver. Annie and Ethan reacted to the Beverly Hills heat wave by barely keeping their hands off each other. Following a suggestion from Annie's grandmother that Annie go off to the Palm Springs' house to unwind, and suddenly Palm Springs became the Annie and Ethan coda for sex.

In Palm Spr...

'90210' Recap: Hello, Goodbye, Amen

January 7th, 2009 9:58am EST
90210
After weeks away, 90210 still has yet to hit its stride. The theme of this episode, using your intuition, is spelled out early on by a teacher's lesson. So when Annie begins to suspect her new brother Sean, it's not like we didn't see it coming.

Ethan and Annie remind us that it's been awhile since the last episode when he starts in on how much he missed her while he was gone on winter break. They're still a couple, and Naomi is still as disgusted by that as ever.

Silver and Dixon have yet to break up, in spite of the Christina, the cheerleader who won't stop talking to him...

'90210' Recap: 'That Which We Destroy'

November 19th, 2008 9:57am EST
90210
After a handful of 90210 episodes where they tried to play nice, Kelly and Brenda seemed determined to return to their old feud. Kelly's catty ways came right after she made an awkward speech about girlfriends being plants and boys being fresh flowers. When Annie and Naomi, who are still fighting, looked at her with annoyance, you couldn't help but think they were just trying to hide their own confusion. Another serving of the Brenda and Kelly frenemy business made suffering through Annie and Naomi's ongoing fight less painful. Annie and Naomi continued call each other names instead of dea...

'90210' Recap: 'Games People Play'

November 12th, 2008 9:32am EST
90210
While many of us were watching the election, 90210's "Secrets and Lies" episode was filled with plenty of revelations. Teacher Ryan got caught with his undercover cop hookup by another one of his students. As a result, he's on leave of absence. Annie ran up her parent's credit card and got drunk after learning about her father's lovechild. Naomi saw Annie and Ethan making out. Navid finally has a girlfriend, after Adrianna decided she wants to date him.

This week's 90210 hour was another episode that revolved around Annie, but Naomi did her best to make sure she wasn't overshadowed. N...

'90210' Recap: There's No Place Like Homecoming

October 29th, 2008 10:10am EDT
90210
It was homecoming this week on 90210. Homecoming episodes are usually so fun to watch because TV is full of teenagers pretending that they're too jaded by this world to enjoy something as simple as the homecoming dance. Dixon is that rare teenage boy who actually will admit to wanting to go. Unfortunately for him, he's dating Silver the anti-everything girl. In fact, Silver hates homecoming so much that she schedules to get her wisdom teeth out the morning before. After Dixon takes care of Silver all day, she gets a call from Annie that guilts her into going to the dance with him.

'90210' Recap: 'Hollywood Forever'

October 8th, 2008 10:11am EDT
90210
Every time I see the opening shots of 90210 show, I have to remind myself that I'm not watching The Hills. The show starts off with a new girl entering teacher Ryan's class, and luckily she's a bitch. With Naomi getting more and more human by the episode, it's nice to see a girl who's not trying to make friends with everyone. The new girl even hits on teacher Ryan. Since the two of them combined look older than the rest of the class, it makes perfect sense to me.

Elsewhere, Annie and Ethan get the school health project that provides you with one of those obnoxious fake babies that cry...

'90210' Recap: 'Model Behavior'

October 1st, 2008 9:43am EDT
90210
This week on 90210, I was expecting to be treated to a catfight between someone. The previews looked like it would be a tossup between Brenda vs. Kelly or Adrianna vs. Annie. Unfortunately, this show has the ability to make previews that are just so much better than the final product.

A carefully placed fashion show put all of the kids and most of their parents at the same place on the same night. Adrianna the has-been child actress tried to make nice with Annie and behave, but the two girls were back to being enemies by the episode's end. Ethan and Naomi finally broke up when he refu...

Recap:'90210' 'The Musical' Episode Five

September 24th, 2008 1:03pm EDT
90210
At first glance, it looks like Ty and Annie are about to sleep together. She's uncomfortable and he's trying to reassure her that it's going to be fine. A few minutes later, we realize that it's all for show. The original star Adrianna hasn't been coming to rehearsals so Brenda has asked Annie to understudy the role. This has also given Ty and Annie more time to make out, just in time to be caught by her father. Annie's dad freaks out but her mom convinces him to let her talk to Annie. Annie's mom tries to convince her that she's confusing her character's feelings for her own, which she's d...

90210 'The Bubble' Episode Four

September 17th, 2008 10:14am EDT
90210
Last night we finally found out who fathered Kelly's son. Kelly bounced between Dylan and Brandon for the entire original Beverly Hills, 90210 run. Although, bounced is sort of an exaggeration because Brandon never really had a chance. Dylan is the father of Kelly's son. It's sort of sad that he's the absentee father he had as a kid, but it makes sense because I think Brandon would never have left his child.

When the play's director takes a leave of absence, Annie's grandmother volunteers and her dad thinks this is a good idea. Annie's grandmother is in her own private theatre world un...

'90210' Recap: Does It Live Up To The Original?

September 3rd, 2008 2:03pm EDT
90210
"Beverley Hills, 90210" premiered when I was a junior in high school, which made me the exact age the main group of characters were portraying. Not actual age, mind you. Though Gabrielle Carteris' character, Andrea Zuckerman, was my age, Carteris herself was 13 years older. Regardless, I was infatuated. I, too, had started a new school during my high school years. I felt a connection with the Walsh twins, Brandon and Brenda, as they were uprooted from their Minnesota roots and moved to the comparatively posh lifestyle of West Beverly High School.

Now, 18 years later, we have a new gene...

CW Hopes That New Lineup, '90210' Can Provide Spark In 2008-09

May 14th, 2008 11:32am EDT
Jennie Garth will star on 90210
It's been a rough couple of years for the CW. While execs tout victories in certain small and obscure demos, the fact remains that the network regularly gets outdrawn by more than one basic cable network. Despite that, there was a sense of optimism as the network unveiled its 2008-2009 schedule yesterday.

Like with ABC, there were few surprises on the CW schedule. Most of the established shows will be returning, and those that were canceled will not be missed (with the exception of dear departed "Aliens in America"). Even "Reaper," which has been on the bubble for nearly the entire...

"Gossip Girl" will return to its 8:00-9:00 p.m. slot, followed by "One Tree Hill" from 9:00-10:00 p.m. "One Tree Hill's" loyal fa...

'Beverly Hills, 90210' Remake: It Should Have A Fighting Chance

It seems America's favorite zip code is back: Beverly Hills, 90210 is returning. After first hearing about the CW planned 90210, reservations were cast. Who would replace the beloved Nate from the Peach Pit? The resident bad-boy Dylan McKay? His murdered father who actually turned out to not be murdered but in the witness protection program? And who has the chutzpah to step into Donna Martin's overpriced heels?

Well, it seems the details are still being worked out. Rob Thomas, celebrated young adult author and writer of Veronica Mars, is the penning the script. What we do know, via...

The time and financial constraints of the writers' strike are being felt this TV pilot season. The broadcast networks are developing half the number of pilots they usually do, ordering presentations in lieu of pilots for some and giving others the straight to series order.

Aside from NBC, which announced its schedule ahead of the pack last week, the networks have kept their plans for fall shrouded in mystery. We'll learn more during the networks' May upfronts. While we can't make any guarantees about which series will get the vote of confidence, here are some promising players to keep...

'Beverly Hills, 90210': Where Are They Now?

Rob Thomas (Dawson's Creek, Veronica Mars) is helming a "Beverly Hills, 90210" spinoff, which like the original will revolve around a family with two teenagers who move from the Midwest to Beverly Hills. There's no word on whether any of the original cast will appear.

Aaron Spelling sure knew what the public favored when he launched the original series back in 1990. The show aired until 2000, completing 10 seasons.

The show began when twins Brandon (Jason Priestley) and Brenda (Shannen Doherty) Walsh moved from Minnesota to California. After 10 seasons, the series ended with the...

Do you ever watch "Dancing with the Stars" and find yourself wondering who is more famous - the star or the dancer? For every 90's teen drama star we also get a handful of models and singers who aren't so much "stars" as they are "available marginally talented individuals."

I guess part of the fun is realizing that the musical guests are generally more famous than the actual cast. This is why I've decided to create a dream cast list for "Dancing with the Stars." I tried to include a mix of "talent" just as the real show does, along with one or two obscure choices:

It takes some excellent writing and an excellent performance to make a bad guy who is a worthy opponent but also one that the fans don't want to see defeated. It's no easy job, but these guys and girls met the task:

1.) Angelus (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) - Buffy was full of bad guys and villains - vampire duo Spike and Drusilla, rogue slayer Faith, Angel's sire Darla and a new Big Bad every season li...
