Happy 50th Birthday, Meg Ryan!

11/19/2011 12:00pm EST
Meg Ryan
Meg Ryan might not be the star she once was when she was breaking our hearts in classic romantic comedies like "When Harry Met Sally" and "Sleepless In Seattle," but there's no doubt she deserves her place in Hollywood history.

Nowadays, she's more famous for her private life and her romances than she is for film roles, but she has already amassed some iconic characters including orgasm-faking Sally Albright ("When Harry Met Sally"), Annie Reed ("Sleepless in Seattle"), Alice Green ("When a Man Loves a Woman") and Kathleen Kelly ("You've Got Mail").

Away from the big screen, she's a mom o...

Jodie Foster: 'Fame Is Like Sticking Pins In Your Eyes'

7/7/2011 8:40am EDT
Jodie Foster
Former child star Jodie Foster is relieved her celebrity status has died down since she first broke into Hollywood, likening fame to "sticking pins in your eyes."

The 48-year-old actress started her onscreen career aged just three, and found fame with her Oscar-nominated role as a child prostitute in 1976's Taxi Driver.

She has since carved out a successful film career, but maintains a low profile in her private life - and Foster is pleased she's slipped under the radar.

She tells Britain's Daily Express, "I think people are kind of 'over' me now. They are more interested in Brad (Pitt...

'The Beaver' Receives Warm Reception At Cannes

5/17/2011 11:34am EDT
The Beaver
Mel Gibson's U.S. box office flop The Beaver received a more promising reaction from critics at the Cannes Film Festival in France, where it premiered to rapturous applause.

The movie is Gibson's first film role since the breakdown of his relationship with Oksana Grigorieva last year amid allegations of violence, a custody battle over their daughter, and leaked tapes of their arguments.

Jodie Foster, who directed the project, hoped the role of a company boss who deals with his depression by communicating via a glove puppet would reignite film fans' love of the Lethal Weapon star, but th...

Foster recently directed "The Beaver," starring Mel Gibson. She stars in the upcoming science fiction film "Elysium."

Mel Gibson's 'The Beaver' Is A Box Office Disaster

5/9/2011 8:16am EDT
The Beaver
Mel Gibson has failed to win over cinema-goers with his comeback role in "The Beaver" - the movie has been dubbed a box office flop after scoring low opening weekend ticket sales.

The film marks Gibson's first appearance onscreen since his troubled personal life hit headlines last year and the release was pushed back several times as the actor dealt with his split from Oksana Grigorieva, her allegations of violence, a custody battle over their daughter and leaked tapes of their arguments.

"The Beaver," which tells the story of a man struggling with depression who uses a glove puppet as an...

5/3/2011 1:00pm EDT
Jodie Foster the Beaver
It’s likely that you know Jodie Foster best for her Oscar winning performances in “The Accused” (1988) and “Silence of the Lambs” (1991); however you probably aren’t aware that the actress has been slowly carving out a career for herself as a director.

Her latest project and third directorial effort, “The Beaver,” is a drama which also has her starring alongside Mel Gibson. Gibson’s character in the film, Walter Black, is a businessman whose life has been ruled by depression. Just when he thinks his life can’t get any worse, he stumbles onto a beaver hand-puppet. At first he uses it as ...

NASA Scientists Slam '2012'

1/3/2011 10:51am EST
NASA scientists have named John Cusack's blockbuster 2012 as the most "absurd" sci-fi film of all time.

Experts at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) put together a list of the least plausible science fiction movies ever made, and the big budget 2009 picture came top. The film, which depicted Earth besieged by natural disasters, featured ahead of two more 'end-of-the-world' movies - 2003's The Core and 1998's Armageddon.

Donald Yeomans, head of NASA's Near-Earth Asteroid Rendezvous mission, says of 2012, "It's absurd. The film-makers took advantage of public worrie...

Mel Gibson And Jodie Foster's Dramatic 'The Beaver' Trailer

12/6/2010 2:00pm EST
The Beaver
So much for a "whimsical comedy." The extended trailer for Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson's The Beaver tells a dark tale of a man going through a midlife crisis before finding comfort in a stuffed beaver puppet.

It's quite the opposite of what many were expecting, although the original script was written as a drama when it was placed on the "Blacklist" - a list of the best screenplays that have yet to be produced.

The film has been pushed back to Spring 2011, apparently due to the problems between Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva. It has previously held an envious December 24 rel...

Gibson's latest offering, which has been directed by Jodie Foster, was put on hold when the actor hit the headlines earlier this year amid reports of a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

His reputation took a further hit after he and Grigorieva began a bitter custody battle over their daughter, Lucia, and the controversy is said to have cost him a cameo in the upcoming The Hangover sequel.

However, executives at Summit Entertainment are now...

Most Memorable Mentally Ill Characters In Film
Just last week the movie "Shutter Island," starring Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Martin Scorsese, was released in general theaters. Its first weekend was a success, and the film is about two U.S. marshals who come to investigate a special hospital for the criminally insane

when one of their patients go missing. One of the marshals, Teddy (DiCaprio) believes there are nefarious things going on at the hospital and seeks to get answers about possible Nazi human experimentation. This is hardly the first (nor the last) movie to take place at a mental institute or about people with mental...
