Jane Fonda says society gives teenage girls "conflicting messages".
The actress and fitness video pioneer believes young girls are bombarded with the message to stay a virgin until they're married, yet, at the same time they're encouraged to have a certain sex appeal by music videos and movies.
The 76-year-old star says: "[Adolescent girls] have so much more pressure from the media. You're supposed to be sexy, you're supposed to be thin ... and yet family values and societal values kind of say, 'Be a good girl, and a virgin until you're married.' Conflicting messages are coming at them."

Bosses behind star-studded historical movie The Butler have been forced to change its name after it was ruled a rival studio owns the rights to the title.

The film, about Eugene Allen - the butler to eight U.S. presidents and their families - features an A-list cast, including Forest Whitaker as Allen, Oprah Winfrey as his wife, Robin Williams as Dwight Eisenhower and Alan Rickman and Jane Fonda as President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy.

Veteran actress Jane Fonda personally lobbied former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s in a bid to end hunger strikes in Northern Ireland.

According to newly-released files from Belfast Public Records Office, the Barbarella star sent a telegram to Thatcher in May, 1981, urging the leader to reclassify all Irish republican inmates as political prisoners after a series of mass protests.
