September 30th, 2014 8:44am EDT
Lena Dunham
"Girls" star and creator Lena Dunham has promised to pay the opening acts on her book tour after she was slammed for expecting them to perform without compensation.

Dunham is kicking off her 12-day book tour on Tuesday to promote her autobiography "Not That Kind Of Girl," and planned to have local artists from each city perform prior to her appearances.

Gawker pointed out that Dunham wasn't paying for the warm-up acts even though her book has already generated $300,000 in sales.

In response to the criticism, Dunham wrote on Twitter: "As an artist raised by artists, no one believes more t...

Don’t Move To New York City Based Solely On What You See On TV:
As a born and bred New Yorker, I’m drawn to shows about my city, taking comfort in the familiar sights and settings; yet I often find myself asking, “Did the writers of some of these shows ever step foot in Manhattan?”

I can shake off the inconsistencies, but I sometimes wonder about all the people saving their babysitting and paper route money hoping to someday move to the Big Apple hoping to mirror the glamorous life seen on the small screen.

Hence, a guide to separating fact from fiction:

‘Smash’ only lasted two seasons, but it was long enough to get your hopes up that moving here wo...

The 12 Worst Dressed At The Metropolitan Museum Of Art's Costume
High fashion isn't always synonymous with beauty - sometimes it can be rather ugly. Lupita Nyong'o attended the 2014 Costume Institute Gala in New York City on Monday wearing a green, feathery mesh jeweled dress from Prada.

The "12 Years A Slave" Oscar winner was recently named People's "Most Beautiful" woman. Perhaps she should take some fashion advice? Just because it's a designer label, doesn't mean it's good.

There is way too much going on with this look. We can't decide which part is worse - the feathers or the dripping jewel overlay. Is the phrase "hot mess" still relevant?

Joan Rivers To Lena Dunham: Don't Tell Girls It's Okay To Be Fat
Joan Rivers has a bone to pick with "Girls" creator Lena Dunham. The comedienne thinks Dunham is sending the wrong message to young women about their weight.

Dunham, 27, stars in the series about a group of 20-something women in New York City who struggle professionally and romantically, and she has appeared nude or scantily clothed in several episodes.

Rivers believes Dunham, who has vehemently defended the onscreen nudity, is not making a good impression on viewers because she's overweight.

Rivers told Howard Stern, "Lena Dunham, who again I think is terrific, how could she wear dresse...

Girls star Lena Dunham says she might quit acting once the hit HBO series completes its run.

Dunham, who created the series and also writes and directs, tells the April issue of Glamour magazine that she's considering giving up being in front of the cameras because she just doesn't like it.

The actress, 27, often sheds her clothes for the show, something that's been heavily criticized in the past, and she...
