NBC's 'About A Boy' Trailer And Musings

January 20th, 2014 7:13pm EST
About a Boy
About a Boy (written by Nick Hornby) is one of my favorite and most read books. It’s part pure sweetness and part comedy, telling the story of a pathological lying man-boy, with no career or ambition, who accidentally befriends a young boy during his quest to get laid. Although the book, and subsequent movie (starring Hugh Grant), are very English, the NBC series will be set in America.

David Walton is a charismatic actor, so he’s no doubt going to be great. Minnie Driver is one of the most underrated comedic actresses out there. However, a few of the changes (such as making the kid Walton...

British actress Minnie Driver has revealed her three-year-old son was fathered by a writer on her former TV drama The Riches.

The Good Will Hunting star gave birth to little Henry Story Driver in 2008, but she refused to come clean about the identity of the baby's father, who has long been rumored to be a TV staffer.

Now, in a candid interview with Britain's The Observer magazine, Driver admits she has no "need to protect" the baby's dad any longer and while she stops short of naming the writer outright, she confesses they were never officially a couple.

She says, "He can fend for him...

Hilary Swank
Hilary Swank attended the 2nd Annual Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Governors Awards in Hollywood wearing a substantially poofy black and blue dress. It's too much! What do you think?

Hilary has been receiving glowing notices for her recent film "Conviction." Will she be an Oscar contender?

In the film, Betty Anne Waters (Swank) and her brother, Kenny (Sam Rockwell), survive bad parenting and poverty by leaning on each other for support. Kenny grows up to be something of a troublemaker, eventually being convicted for a murder he swears he didn't commit.

His sister believes...

"Conviction" directed by Tony Goldwyn, is the incredible true story of Betty Anne Waters, an ordinary working class mother of two, who embarks on an 18 year quest to free her brother, Kenny, who's sentenced to life in prison for a murder he didn't commit. Sam Rockwell as Kenny Waters gives one of his best performances to date and Hillary Swank, as his sister, Betty Anne Waters, makes us remember why she won two Oscars. Rounding out the excellent cast is Juliette Lewis, Minnie Driver, Melissa Leo, Peter Gallagher and Clea Duvall. "Conviction" is about one woman, who not only defies the o...

Celebrating The Comedic John Cusack: A Spotlight On His Funniest Roles

November 13th, 2009 10:54am EST
John Cusack
Even though he doesn't make Academy Award winning material, John Cusack certainly knows how to make entertaining films. Since the early 80s, Cusack's awkward boyish charm has been attracting audiences to his comedies.

While some of his movies over the years have been outlandish and goofy from a plot perspective, Cusack's deadpan sense of humor tends to keep them grounded in a way a lot of viewers can relate to.

Cusack's latest role in Roland Emmerich's "2012" veers away from his traditional light hearted fare toward something heavier. Judging from the previews, it looks like a thri...

Last Tuesday, I had a chance to see "Where the Wild Things Are." Visually the film is stunning; it integrates handheld camera shots in the appropriate moments to take viewers into the action. Jim Henson's Creature Shop makes the monsters of the movie look incredibly convincing, and the composite animation of their faces matches up well.

Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers do a fantastic job of stretching a 10 page children's book into a movie that doesn't distort the message of the book, but still gives audiences something fresh. One of the most fascinating aspects of the creatures the hero M...

Fashion Flub: Minnie Driver's Two-Piece Feather Printed Gown

Minnie Driver
Minnie Driver, 38 and mother to 1-year-old Henry, is looking pretty good these days. There's hardly a line on her face (whether she's blessed with good genetics or a little botox we don't know) and she has a nice figure. So why hide it in an unflattering, two-piece gown? We dig the earrings, however. See more photos after the jump.

Minnie showed up in the ensemble at the "Motherhood" New York City screening hosted by Gotham Magazine. The film is about a hapless mother of two's (Uma Thurman) attempt to prepare for her daughter's rapidly-approaching sixth birthday party. Along the way, the ...

Someone recently emailed me for a sightseeing recommendation for an upcoming journey to New York City. It seemed a bit odd because although I visit often, I have never lived within the city walls. I recommended the usual - a tour of NBC, shopping in Soho, a slow walk through The Strand bookstore, etc. My email pal thought I was joking.

Apparently she was not looking for a tour guide, she was looking for film spots. Specifically, she wanted restaurants that appeared in her favorite films. So with a little bit of research, I found the following:

Is 40 Dangerous Territory For Men In Hollywood?

There's a saying in Hollywood that goes, when a woman turns 40 her career is over, when a man turns 40 it's just beginning. Sex appeal seems to be the driving force in most stars careers and the perception of most men is that they get sexier with age. Thanks to plastic surgery and changing attitudes women have a fighting chance of keeping their share of the sexy spotlight. But what about the men of Hollywood?

In a not-so-popular film called "I'll Do Anything" Nick Nolte plays an out of work actor who's sleeping with a casting director and lands an audition for a show she's working on. ...

And although this isn't the case with all of Hollywood, there are a few we like to call Celebrity Serial Daters.
