Carrie Underwood's Dream Wedding - Exclusive Photos Only In This Week's 'People'

July 15th, 2010 6:06pm EDT
Carrie Underwood
This week's issue of PEOPLE features exclusive photos of country star Carrie Underwood's pink-hued fantasy wedding to Canadian pro hockey player Mike Fisher at the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Plantation resort in Georgia last weekend. Surrounded by friends and family (and her dog, Ace, dressed in a Swarovski crystal-encrusted pink tuxedo), the former American Idol finalist, 27, wore a Chantilly lace and silk organza Monique Lhuillier gown and dazzling tiara made of more than 40 carats of diamonds (a wedding gift from the groom) while exchanging vows with the Ottawa Senators center, 30, beneath an...

Adam Lambert Has Rock Star Arms

July 10th, 2010 9:06am EDT
Adam Lambert
"American Idol" star Adam Lambert performed and did a radio interview at 107.5 The River in Nashville this week, and we think he needs to work out a little bit. He's proud of his new tattoo, but he needs to bulk up those arms, don't you think?

Adam put himself in the running as a replacement for Simon Cowell on the hit singing competition, but it doesn't seem like anyone is backing him up. Simon told OK! magazine, "I wouldn't be surprised if it was Harry Connick, Jr. He was a great mentor when he was on, and he knows music."

Kara DioGuardi is also supporting Harry as a new judge. She ex...

Kara DioGuardi Wants Harry Connick Jr., Not Bret Michaels, To Replace Simon Cowell

June 30th, 2010 8:51am EDT
Kara DioGuardi
"American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi is voting for Harry Connick, Jr. to replace Simon Cowell as her sidekick on the talent show.

The crooner jumped to the top of the favorites list after he mentored the finalists for an episode on the latest season of the show - and songwriter DioGuardi insists he'd be the perfect for the role.

She says, "The way that he worked with the contestants, he really cared about them. I thought he was really, really great."

Cowell quit the show last month and Connick, Jr., Bret Michaels and former "Idol" star Adam Lambert have emerged as frontrunners to take hi...

Bret Michaels To Meet With 'American Idol' Producers And Discuss Replacing Simon Cowell

Bret Michaels and Simon Cowell
Rocker Bret Michaels has revealed he is in talks with "American Idol" bosses about possibly replacing Simon Cowell as a judge on the show.

The Poison singer made his first live appearance after his recent brain hemorrhage and mild stroke on the talent show's finale and rumors have been rife ever since that he's the man to take over Cowell's chair.

And now he admits he's planning to meet with producers to discuss the idea.

He tells Parade.com, "We have a meeting in L.A. in a couple weeks and we're going to sit down and talk. They did a poll and I think it was Madonna, P. Diddy, Howard Ste...

Tons Of Stars Heat Up The Red Carpet At The CMT Music Awards (Photos)

CMT Awards
A bunch of celebrities, including Snooki from "Jersey Shore" and "Dancing With The Stars" runner-up Erin Andrews, attended last night's CMT Music Awards in Nashville. Carrie Underwood was named country queen and received two trophies, while Miranda Lambert won Female Video of the Year for White Liar.(Check out the full list of winners here!)

Most of the ladies on the red carpet wore short dresses, showing off their legs. While metallics dominated the MTV Movie Awards last Sunday, it wasn't the case at the CMT awards. It was a rainbow of colors as the stars wore pink, yellow, blue, turqu...

Paula Abdul's Bizarre Speech On 'American Idol' Finale (Video)

Paula Abdul American Idol Finale
Paula Abdul's return to American Idol for the finale of the season - and Simon Cowell's last show - was supposed to be a heartfelt send-off for the long-time judge. But things quickly turned odd as Abdul started her own brand of comedy.

She first started with what sounded like a goodbye scrawled in a High School yearbook: "Thank you everyone. Thank you so much. It’s fantastic being here tonight. I really miss everyone. Hello judges! Randy: You look charming tonight. It’s great seeing you. Hi Ellen: I love you. Wanna dance? Kara: You look beautiful tonight. Where’s Ryan? Ryan: Wherever you ...

'American Idol' Recap: Crystal Blows Out Lee While Simon Gives His Final Criticism

Crystal Blows Out Lee While Simon Gives His Final Criticism
All right kids. It’s game time. “Idol” finals. And even though this season was lackluster to say the least, I’m still a bit excited. So let’s go to the tale of the tape:

In one corner we have Lee Dewyze. The former paint store employee and master of the one move – to imitate the lead singer of 3 Doors Down. What he lacks in stage presence he makes up for in his ability to make young girls have a crush on him. He hasn’t been great this year, but he’s been better than most of the lame competition he’s faced. Well, all except for Lilly.

In the second corner we have Crystal Bowersox –...

'American Idol' Recap: Casey Goes Home On Homecoming Night

Casey James Sent Home
On Tuesday I completely lost faith in “American Idol”.

It wasn’t hard to do. When we watch the producers, judges and everyone else involved clearly favoring two contestants with enhanced production values and raves entirely without base, it’s only natural to become a bit jaded about the real purpose of this show.

Then there are nights like last night which reaffirm what makes this show great – how, like how they do it or not, “Idol” plucks people out of obscurity and makes their dreams come true.

The journey home episode always hammers this aspect of the show home. While these contesta...

'American Idol' Recap: The Judges Make Their Favorites Clear

AI Final 3 perform
It’s judges’ choice night on “Idol” and you know what that means: Judges irrationally supporting whomever they chose a song for.

Actually, last night it was more than that. It went far beyond the judges’ giving high marks only to validate their song selections and into something that almost seemed like collusion. Never before was it more apparent who the judges were trying to stick in the finale, and never before did that seem less deserved than the undeserved praise we saw reigned last night.

So who were the lucky two? Well, you can probably guess, but read on to find out.

Blech! Kara DioGuardi's Metallic Muumuu-Like Dress & Black Leggings

Kara DioGuardi
According to urbandictionary.com, a "moo moo" is a "big-ass night gown or dress that big-ol's wear." Wikipedia says a "muumuu" is a loose dress of Hawaiian origin that is worn by pregnant women and obese people because they don't restrict the waist.

Now, Kara Dioguardi is anything but obese, and we don't think she's pregnant. So why would she choose to wear this ensemble at the Fox upfront after party in New York City last night?

We wonder what Kara's "American Idol" crush Casey James would think of her outfit?

'American Idol' Recap: Big Mike Goes Home

What do a superstar modern rocker, a VH1 reality show star, and Bon Jovi have in common? They all performed on last night's "American Idol" results show that's what. And only one of them stunk. Read on to find how who it is as we say goodbye to Big Mike.

The Results

There's not a whole lot to say about Big Mike's exit. Certainly it was very predictable (even I got it right!) and it's not like it hasn't happened before, but it's sad all the same.

I felt like Mike was the only thing truly different left on this show since Siobahn's exit. While the rest are decidedly mainstream (as muc...

The Results

I can’t help but think this Aaron elimination came one week too late. It seems like it happens every year – we have a final four (or five) picked out and wait for that showdown, but it never quite shakes out that way. There’s always one who sticks around a little too long, and this year it was Aaron.

Let’s face it. Aaron had a zero-percent chance of winning this thing. He’s got about the fourth-best voice remaining and easily the worst sta...

Find a way to make the song new, to make yourself new. That’s been the main comment from the fearsome foursome all season long.

And now, we get. . .Frank Sinatra night? After months of caterwauling about currency, the judges decide to throw the contestants the songs of a singer that peaked in the late 40s.

All season we’ve been waiting for an episode like the one we got last night. And who knew we’d get it from Shania Twain’s catalog?

Country night appeared to have doom written all over it. After all, this is a competition composed of a soul singer, a rocker, a folky, a blues man, a freaky opera singer and Ed Grimley. Not exactly the recipe for down home success.

But you know what? Sometimes strange combinations can yield the most delightful results. Or at least results that were far more compelling than anything we’ve seen so far this season.

I just can’t be snarky on “Idol Gives Back” night. There’s just no way to mock anything that’s for a good cause. So you’ll have to forgive my relatively straightforward recap.

Of course, there were many performances tonight, and may fell flat. Particularly the Jonah Hill/Russell Brand Phone Bank sketch. There were more awkward silences and nervous bouts of laughter than you’d find on a bad first date.

We also saw the Black Eyed Peas continue to make us wonder why they are so popular and the Lopez/Sykes comedy duo prove that Fox and TBS made the right moves by wooing Conan. Then there...

If you can’t do better, just do it all over again.

Last night smacked of desperation in the land of “Idol” as the producers reached all the way back to last year for their mentor, choosing Adam Lambert to mentor the hopefuls on. . .how to finish second?

Yes, Adam Lambert may not have won, but he was certainly the most memorable contestant from last year so it’s no surprise the producers would attempt to recapture some of the glory of last season by bringing him back almost immediately to mentor the contestants. When a season falls flat, I guess it’s best simply to pretend last year never...

Many, many, many times Ryan tells us the results of the show will be shocking, and finally Seacrest’s hype is absolutely spot on. Big Mike getting the boot? Not so fast.

I’ve always been a fan of the judge’s save. I think it adds a great sense of drama to the show. It’s much better to see them singing with a sense of purpose at the end of the show, rather than just a flat ode of farewell. The other reason the save is a great idea? Moments like tonight.

There’s something I’ve noticed about this season of ‘American Idol’: A lot of cringes.

Those cringes come whenever we see who’s coming up next. Like in this scenario: Ryan says, “Up next it’s Casey James”. Instantly, there’s a shudder as we think of the boring mess he’s about to give us.

This feeling of unease goes pretty much down the line. Be it Tim, Katie, Aaron or Andrew, there are so many contestants whose impending performance is something you’d rather not see.

But tonight, many of those shudders were unfounded as a lot of the former bottom dwellers raised their game, turning in...

Yet, when you read my recaps, you probably wouldn’t know that. It seems I’ve been giving out as many “A”s as I ever have. This despite the fact that nobody in this year’s cast would have made last season’s final five (Though Lilly could have won on any season).

Plus, with the new addition of Ellen and Simon’s impending departure – the judges are ripe for discussing. Nothing surprising about the discourse, what is surprising is the prevailing opinion.

The man who is now certainly the worst singer remaining. The mild shock was Paige’s presence in the bottom three.
