Actress Laura Dern has blasted U.S. President George Bush and is desperate for a Democrat to replace him. The 40-year-old actress now has to decide who she wants to win the Democrat race - because she's friends with Hillary Clinton and a fan of her rival Barack Obama.

She said "I'm excited that there are so many wonderful Democratic voices speaking out about important issues. I mean everyone is sick of Bush. Even my Texan Republican step dad is saying, 'This is a nightmare, get these people outta there.' We all want change."

Filmmaker Mike White is being sued over his latest film Year Of The Dog by his former friend Laura Kightlinger, who claims she gave him the idea for the movie. Kightlinger has filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court, claming she gave him the script named 'We Are Animals' about a woman who loves rescuing cats. Laura Dern was left traumatized as a child when she watched her father Bruce Dern's head roll out of a hat box in a movie. The actress was just five when she caught sight of her father's decapitated head in the movie Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte.

She recalls, "I remember watching television with my mom and she was flipping the channels and there was this image of Bette Davis holding a hat box at the top of the stairs... and out rolled my father's head.
