'Gossip Girl' Recap: 'Last Tango, Then Paris'

May 18th, 2010 9:12am EDT
Gossip_Girl
All the Gossip Girl OMG moments were a little too WTF to produce overly compelling drama for this week’s season finale. For starters, with so many people shacking up these days, it’s becoming a little difficult to know who’s sleeping and around and who’s just…sleeping.

Jenny (Taylor Momsen) woke up in Nate’s (Chace Crawford) bed wearing his shirt, and not much else. Chuck (Ed Westwick) disrupted the sleeping beauties (who were just sleeping) and then carried on his merry way to the top of the Empire State Building where he was going to wait to propose his love (and possibly more!) to Blair...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: 'The Unblairable Lightness of Being'

April 13th, 2010 9:20am EDT
gossip girl
Gossip Girl isn’t complete without some big party looming on the horizon; so, when very pregnant Dorota (Zuzanna Szadkowski) and her fiancée Vanya (Aaron Schwartz) were in need of a shotgun wedding (due to Dorota’s parents coming to visit) Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) was there to save the day. Chuck, as always, comes complete with ulterior motives, so he was hoping he could get back into Blair’s (Leighton Meester) good graces by putting on this extravagant show.

Blair wasn’t overly quick to forgive Chuck, though. She could barely even tell anyone about the whole pawning her for the Empire ord...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: Thanksgiving Table Serves As Love's Chopping Block

December 1st, 2009 8:35am EST
Gossip Girl
This week's episode of Gossip Girl felt more like a Valentine's Day Massacre, rather than Thanksgiving dinner. Cupid's arrows were flying every which direction, ensuring that trouble was cooking alongside the turkey.

First up on love's chopping block - Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford). Nate hinted in the last episode that he'd been harboring feelings for Serena (Blake Lively) for the past three years. He's been doing a pretty damn good job of hiding those feelings, considering in the meantime he's been with Blair (Leighton Meester), Vanessa (Jessica Szohr), Jenny (Taylor Momsen), and who ...

Best Film & TV About Alien Invasions

August 17th, 2009 2:39pm EDT
X-Files
For centuries human beings have considered the world beyond Earth and wondered if there was life outside of what we know. There have been essays, books, movies, television, and plenty of conspiracy theories about the existence of aliens or extraterrestrial life.

In the past 50 years or so pop culture has been fascinated by this idea and what would happen if the alien nation found its way to our Earth. Would they be like Star Trek, some hostile and some friendly to humankind? Or would they be like Aliens and plan to tear the flesh off our bones?

With ABC bringing back a TV series abo...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: 'Seder Anything'

April 21st, 2009 9:51am EDT
Gossip Girl
Gossip Girl celebrated Passover Seder, which meant it was a good time for the writers to find all words that rhymed with Seder…like cater and waiter. Eleanor Waldorf (Margaret Colin) and new husband Cyrus (Wallace Shawn) hosted the Seder dinner at their home, but it ended up being a mess - as most things turn out on the Upper East Side.

It all began when Blair (Leighton Meester) decided to skip Seder for Nate's (Chace Crawford) cousin's wedding. She thought that Nate had a surprise up his sleeve for her, namely his future cousin-in-law putting in a recommendation for her to be on a p...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: O Brother, Where Bart Thou?

December 9th, 2008 9:43am EST
Gossip Girl
Well, it wasn't a big surprise to learn in the first 30 seconds of this week's Gossip Girl that Bart Bass (Robert John Burke) had died in a terrible accident. He did have some last words, left in a voicemail to Lily (Kelly Rutherford). He knew about her time spent in a hospital in France. What did she do? That's a secret Bart took to his grave; fortunately, his private investigator made it through the crash (I'm assuming he was in the accident too, he was indeed last seen with Bart in the car) and lived to sell the information to the highest bidder.

But, for once, the Upper East Siders...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: 'The Magnificent Archibalds'

November 18th, 2008 10:09am EST
Gossip Girl
It's (supposedly) Thanksgiving on the Upper East Side in this weeks Gossip Girl, meaning its time to open up each family's respective can of worms. How delicious!

Blair (Leighton Meester) wants her picture-perfect family Thanksgiving filled with all her favorite traditions. Instead, she has to settle for her mother (Margaret Colin) and new live-in boyfriend Cyrus (Wallace Shawn) and all his standing traditions. Once the maid, Dorota (Zuzanna Szadkowski) reveals to Blair that Eleanor and Cyrus are getting married, Blair flips out and decides to miraculously disappear and feed the ducks,...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: 'Bonfire of the Vanity'

November 11th, 2008 9:53am EST
Gossip Girl
This week Gossip Girl was all about building new relationships. Jenny (Taylor Momsen) moved in with Agnes (Willa Holland), Blair's (Leighton Meester) mother, Eleanor (Margaret Colin), found herself a man named Cyrus Rose (Wallace Shawn), Serena (Blake Lively) was falling hard for Cyrus' son Aaron (John Patrick Amedori) and Dan (Penn Badgley) befriended Chuck's (Ed Westwick) father Bart (Robert John Burke).

After the guerrilla fashion show, Jenny decided home was not where her heart was. She took refuge at Agnes' apartment while they went on the hunt to find a business partner. While t...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: 'Pret-a-Poor-J'

October 28th, 2008 10:08am EDT
Gossip Girl
To say "I love you," or not to say "I love you," that is the question…for Blair (Leighton Meester) at least. Her dry spell from Chuck (Ed Westwick) has her taking matters into her own hands, literally. Chuck won't give Blair the time of day unless she says "I love you." So, Blair has a conundrum; the only thing to do when one has a conundrum brewing is to talk to the best friend. Ever since the treacherous trip to Yale, Serena (Blake Lively) and Blair are back on the right track to being best friends. This does, unfortunately, require Serena to hear about Blair's itches that only Chuck can ...

'Gossip Girl' Recap – The Serena Also Rises

September 30th, 2008 10:14am EDT
Gossip Girl
Its time for a catfight on the catwalk, or at least Blair (Leighton Meester) seems to believe so. Her drama with Serena (Blake Lively) has gone too far for comfort; Serena is stealing the girls at school away from Blair's rule and now hanging out with happening socialites like Poppy Lifton and ignoring sacred 'BFF' traditions with Blair.

But, let's go back to how we got here -- Serena and Blair haven't exactly been on the best of terms, even way back to the show's beginning (last fall, before the writer's strike). The girls' friendship has been estranged ever since Serena's leave of ab...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: Dan & Serena Break Up Again, Nate Still A Gigolo

September 16th, 2008 8:56am EDT
Gossip Girl
Nothing is a secret when Gossip Girl is around. With all her little pre-teen minions running around Manhattan snapping photos, she definitely has all the help she can get in delving into the secrets of New York's elite. This, of course, includes favorite 'it' couple, lonely boy Dan (Penn Badgley) and Serena (Blake Lively) who still haven't seemed to make their relationship official, again.

Gossip Girl keeps nothing to herself for long and posts a picture of the two lip-locked, letting everyone know that they are, in fact, together. This leads to nothing but scrutiny from family and fr...

'Gossip Girl' Episode Recap: 'Blair Waldorf Must Pie!'

November 29th, 2007 12:50pm EST
Gossip Girl
Gossip Girl's Thanksgiving episode is a masterpiece of teen drama. Peppered with flashbacks from the past year, the series' tenth episode proves that these characters are -gasp!- even more screwed up than we thought.

The opening scene paints the picture of one year earlier, when a wandering Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) saved a drunk Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) as she crossed the street. So Dan and Serena have met before! He saved her life! Serena used to be an alcoholic! For the first time, Lively's acting seems stale; her play on inebriation comes off forced and the plot lin...
