Striking newscaster Julie Chen was born in Queens, NY, in 1970. She switched coasts for college, graduating from the University of Southern California in 1991 with a degree in broadcast journalism and English, and shortly thereafter, she began contributing to the ABC News program Nightline. In 1995 she became a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDTN-TV in Dayton, OH. Then, in 1997, Chen became an anchor for The Early Show and later joined the CBS Morning News, gaining her national notoriety.
