Julie Suzanne Chen was born on Jan. 6, 1970 in Queens, NY. Her mother grew up in Rangoon, Burma, while her father was born in China. He was a prominent political figure in the Kuomintang government of Chiang Kai-shek. The Chen family moved all over China, even living in Taiwan.
