Charisma Carpenter Aims To Inspire With 'Surviving Evil'

September 4th, 2013 12:07pm EDT
Surviving Evil
Charisma Carpenter has found her place in pop culture with her roles on Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel and Supernatural. Now she's reaching audiences in a new way, as the host of the Investigation Discovery series Surviving Evil, which details the stories of people who have endured horrible things - including Charisma herself. She sat down with BFTV last week to discuss her aims with the series and what it was like to put her own story on the air.

"I think what is impressive about every episode is that the people survive the things that you'll see in the next few episodes," she told us. "...

Charisma Carpenter On Tonight's 'The Lying Game' Finale And Her Versatile Career

March 12th, 2013 11:20am EDT
Charisma Carpenter
"There will be a couple of confrontations," said Charisma Carpenter, teasing tonight's The Lying Game spring finale in a recent conversation with BFTV. "Not everybody knows about the twins; almost everybody does. Obviously, there's a big rift now between Dan and Ethan because of him not being honest with Dan about what he knew. Somebody's either dead or alive."

The hit ABC Family series is based on the book series by Sara Shepard, but the actress revealed she hasn't relied on those to build her character, Rebecca Sewell, whose capacity for deviousness means that even her husband Alec Rybak...

'Supernatural' Recap: War of Witches Scorned

marsters and carpenter
Last week’s episode left me unfulfilled as Dean hadn't shared his secret, and instead chose to try to bury his head in the sand and his liver in alcohol. Luckily, for my sanity, “Shut Up, Dr. Phil” was lighthearted and unexpectedly charming, thanks sci-fi staples and “Angel” alums James Marsters (“Hawaii Five-0”) and Charisma Carpenter (“Burn Notice,” “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”).

The murder of Wendy Goodson, real estate agent, opened the episode. She reassured her client that selling the family home would punish her husband for his infidelities. For Wendy, who had indiscretions of he...

'Burn Notice' 5.11 'Better Halves' Review

September 1st, 2011 10:02pm EDT
Burn Notice
Tonight's episode was the last Burn Notice before the summer finale. With momentum to build, the show gave us...the tired premise of a show's two leads going undercover as a married couple? It's above average, but you'd be forgiven for any deja vu.

We've seen this before. The X-Files did it well. Nikita didn't do it so well. I'm sure there are others I'm not currently thinking of. In the versions I've seen, it's a way to make commentary on the real relationship (or lack thereof) between the two characters via the fake one - and it usually comes off far too obvious for my taste. Bu...

Leave Them Hanging: Favorite TV Cliffhangers

April 2nd, 2008 2:00pm EDT
Lost
Television is a medium that thrives on manipulating audiences into tuning in, and no narrative device is more effective at accomplishing that task than the cliffhanger. With the end of the 2007-08 season rapidly approaching and new cliffhangers waiting in the wings, we have decided to celebrate our favorites from years past.

5) The Simpsons: "Who Shot Mr. Burns?"

The Cliffhanger: It didn't provoke quite the fervor of the "Dallas" storyline that it parodied, but this two-part episode did warrant a special "America's Most Wanted" and was discussed often during the summer of 19...

The son of Golden Girls scribe Tom Whedon, Joss followed in the family business when, after receiving his film degree from Wesleyan University in 1987, he found work as a writer on Roseanne. It wasn't until the early 90s that Whedon would begin walking the path to becoming the creative force he is known as today.

A Ditzy Cheerleader with a Destiny

In 1992, Buffy the Vampire Slayer starring Kristy Swaonson hit theaters, with a resounding thud. Scripted by Whedon, the mov...

TV's 10 Most Unrealistic Couples

January 22nd, 2008 10:14am EST
CSI
Reality is not always a factor when it comes to TV relationships. Actually, it usually isn't. Often, two characters that would never come together in real life are forced into a relationship for any number of reasons. It's not really a problem for most TV viewers because they understand that entertainment value will always trump reality.

That being said, there are some on-screen relationships that make perfect sense. Then there are the head scratchers. Below is a sampling of the latter. Please note, just because these relationships are unrealistic doesn't necessarily mean they ...
