'Community' Creator, Stars React To Show's Cancellation

'Community' Creator, Stars React To Show's Cancellation
After five seasons and low ratings, NBC canceled "Community," a move that broke the hearts of many fans who hoped the network would greenlight one final season to wrap things up.

The show was set at a local junior college and featured a host of quirky characters, including a disbarred lawyer and Christian single mother. Creator Dan Harmon thanked his colleagues and fans for being part of the show.

Twitter isn't big enough to hold my condolences and more importantly my gratitude to the best fans, cast and crew in TV history. Excelsior.

'Community's' Yvette Nicole Brown Talks 'Dog Days Of Summer'

August 17th, 2013 12:14pm EDT
Community
The hilarious Yvette Nicole Brown is this year's star helping The Hub launch Dog Days of Summer, a week of canine-themed programs for the whole family. Yvette, who voices the character of Cookie on the network's Pound Puppies, took some time out of her busy schedule to chat with BFTV about cartoons, pets, and of course, Community.

"It's a week long celebration on The Hub network where they play dog-themed movies and then we have our Pound Puppies marathon," explained Yvette, who takes over from co-star Alanna Ubach, who helped celebrate the campaign in 2012. "We also give you an update on ...

Fashion Fail: Those Poor Cheetahs

Cee-Lo Green
It's Fashion Fail Time! That means we take a break from letting you know how good all of your favorite stars look to show the other side of fashion: the fails! This week we have quite a collection of animals prints to gawk at; we just hope no real animals were harmed to make this disastrous fashion.

Cee Lo Green starts us off with his hoodie. Honestly, this could be leopard print. Heck if I know. Does it really matter?

Yvette Nicole Brown tries on his huge amount of fabric, letting it just wrinkle and fold over everywhere.

Zoe Hardman ups the ante with an entire dress with the pa...

Neil Patrick Harris & Other Stars Fed The Homeless For Thanksgiving

November 23rd, 2012 11:00am EST
Neil Patrick Harris
While many celebrities and regular citizens were preparing for Thanksgiving feasts in the comforts of their homes, several celebrities helped the Los Angeles Mission give out meals to the homeless on Wednesday.

"How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris was on hand to scoop turkey onto people's plates.

Verteran actor Kirk Douglas, 95, also got his hands dirty to help the less fortunate (and he sampled some food to make sure it tasted okay).

Mom-to-be Malin Akerman also lent a hand to those who waited in line for a hot meal.

'Community' Recap: Competitive Ecology

October 10th, 2011 7:55am EDT
community 3
The most recent episode of NBC’s “Community” is, in some ways, one of its most meta and self-referential outings. Greendale Community College’s motley study group always seems to be spending more time arguing and screwing off then actually studying (a serious complaint from the show’s critics). In “Competitive Ecology,” the writers, in their unique way, address those who take issue with that aspect of the show.

The team’s Biology professor, Dr. Kane, tells the class that they’ll be partnering up to build a terrarium which will be due the next day. Instead of letting the students choose the...

'Community' Co-Stars Talk Season 2 and Chemistry 101

September 23rd, 2010 8:40am EDT
betty joel
Before tuning in for the premiere of “Community” this Thursday on NBC, we were lucky enough to chat with co-stars Joel McHale and Alison Brie about going back to school for a sophomore season and all the crazy chemistry on the set of their hilarious hit comedy.

Fan favorites, Joel McHale and Alison Brie play the study group’s de facto leader, Jeff Winger, and its most studious pupil, Annie Edison. After their characters shared an unexpected kiss in a mid-season episode, the blogosphere was buzzing about the pair’s great chemistry. However, their romantic reunion on the season finale was de...

'Community' Recap: 'The Art of Discourse'

April 30th, 2010 9:10am EDT
Community
Put on your homage-spotting caps, it's another new episode of Community.

After last-week's dead-ringer mafia movie/Scorcese parody, the writers took on the godfather of college hijinx flicks- Animal House.

It all begins with Abed, the catalyst for all the meta self-awareness in the Greendale universe, trying to complete his freshman year bucket list by recreating gags culled from classic college comedies.

Troy agrees to be his Morgan Freeman character and is promptly pantsed by Abed, who is disappointed Troy isn't wearing the traditional white heart-print boxers. Troy returns the favor (...

'Community' Recap: 'Beginner Pottery'

March 19th, 2010 9:42am EDT
Community
This week's episode of Community, "Beginner Pottery," uses the same premise as "Introduction to Film," something the characters acknowledge when Jeff comes to them with a blow-off class suggestion.

Abed and Annie choose to join him, while Pierce shows up in nautical regalia in order to convince the group to take a one-week boating class. Shirley and Britta are on board, as well as Troy, who says, "A black person on a boat? I gotta see this. I'm in."

Nevermind the nearest body of water is more than two hours away, the school has recently acquired a sailboat, The Nose Candy, via police auct...

'Community' Recap: 'Basic Genealogy'

March 12th, 2010 9:52am EST
Community
Just when I thought Community could not get any wilder and awkward, family week at Glendale happened.

Abed brought his family, which was the punch line for many racist jokes by Pierce. Senor Chan brought his brother, who told Senor Chan how ridiculous his name sounds. Troy brought his grandmother, who was “old school”, and ended up whooping Britta with a “switch” (stick).

Jeff has no family, while Pierce brought his super hot ex-stepdaughter, which lead to a classic Pierce line, “Over the course of seven marriages, I've amassed some 32 stepchildren."

Things got a little weird as Pierce w...

'Community' At PaleyFest: A Taste Of What Being On Their Set Is Like!

March 4th, 2010 11:43am EST
Community Paley fest
My audio recording from last night's PaleyFest panel honoring the acting and producing talent of NBC's hit sitcom, Community, is pretty much nonsensical. Between the raucous laughter from the audience, creator Dan Harmon's long, rambling stories, and star Chevy Chase's Christopher Walken-like way of answering questions, everyone had a ton of fun but it became incredibly clear that the show is even more remarkable simply for managing to get scenes shot, despite the crazy off-screen behavior!

Prior to screening "Physical Education," tonight's episode which features Joel McHale in butt shorts...

'Community' Recap: 'Social Psychology'

October 9th, 2009 9:45am EDT
Community
NBC wasn't lying when they advertised Community as a hit before audiences had even seen it. Three episodes in, it already has the buzz to secure a second season. In each episode, writers have found clever ways of allowing the talented ensemble cast to pair off and interact, revealing more about each character. The thirteen episodes of this season will likely color in these characters as the major and minor romantic plotlines flesh out.

This week, Jeff finds himself in the "girlfriend" zone trying to be cool as Britta tells him about her new boyfriend, Vaughn, a hackey-sacking hippie with...

Sneak Peek: Joel McHale's 'Community' (Exclusive Video)

September 2nd, 2009 10:40am EDT
Community
Earlier this summer, Facebook teamed up with the NBC marketing department to bring it back to what it once was: a grassroots college networking site. Through exclusive invitations sent around via Facebook messages, dozens of lucky fans of the new NBC and Joel McHale comedy "Community" got to attend a special screening of the show, followed by a cast Q&A at their local community college.

Last night - after granting Facebook users an instantaneous (and free!) look at the "Community" pilot simply for "Becoming a Fan" of the show on the site - NBC held a screening at "Community's" own Los An...
