'Nashville': The Prime Time Soap With A Country Twang
"Unfortunately, the older business models are irrelevant."
In every field and industry, those are words you don’t want to hear. Will your audience or customer grow old along with you? Can it really be over just when you’re hitting your creative stride?
That’s the new reality country music star Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) faces in the pilot of “Nashville.” Rayna’s audience are turning away, preferring up and coming, glamorous Juliette Barnes’ (Hayden Panettiere) glitzy, auto-tuned repertoire. Despite having 20 solid years of hits and sold out audiences, her latest album is tanking, and...

Connie Britton And Hayden Panettiere Talk Reba, Taylor Swift And 'Nashville' Singing
ABC’s new drama Nashville stars Connie Britton as a country music star and Hayden Panettiere as the next big thing. Already the country music community thinks they know who this is really about: Reba McEntire and Taylor Swift?
“I ran into Reba McEntire on a plane,” Britton said when she spoke to the Television Critics Association this summer. “And she said, ‘Did you hear that they're saying that you're playing me in your show?’ And I said, ‘No. I had no idea.’ For me, at least, it's sort of an amalgam of a lot of different people, but I'm also I think it's really fun to take from that so...

Vibrant Yellow Gowns Dominate 2012 Emmy Fashion - See Tons Of Photos!
The red carpet was full of bright colors at the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards last night, but yellow was the most popular. "Modern Family" star Julie Bowen, winner of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, looked oustanding in a strapless canary yellow gown.
"Homeland" winner Claire Danes, who is several months pregnant, also opted for a strapless yellow dress that was (obviously) more loose fitting than Julie's.
"Game Change" winner Julianne Moore picked a more conservative yellow gown with long sleeves, a higher neckline and a billowing skirt.

The 10th Anniversary Of '24'
How time flies: 10 years ago today, 24 premiered on FOX, and television - not to mention pop culture and the world - was never the same.
The action-drama series, created by La Femme Nikita bosses Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, and starring Kiefer Sutherland as now-famous government agent Jack Bauer, was a groundbreaking piece of entertainment. It introduced the idea of a television series in real time (each episode was an hour in a day) and employed a distinctive visual style that included the widespread use of "boxes" to provide simultaneous glimpses at multiple storylines. Brittany's TCA 2011 Blog: 'Sons of Anarchy,' 'American Horror Story,' 'Rescue Me' And 'Always Sunny'
After spending some time with FOX, my TCA (Television Critics Association) blog comes to an end with a look at sister network FX, which brought to Beverly Hills four returning series and a new one. Not to mention one big moment that I may unfortunately never be able to get out of my brain.

What Happened To The Emmy Nominations?!
What happened to this year's Emmy nominations? They're...actually pretty great.
I normally can't stand TV's big awards show; it seems like the same people and series get nominated all the time, with the occasional "why did that get nominated at all?" head-scratcher for variety. But the 2011 nominations were announced early Thursday morning, and while it's still a little puzzling (though let's not name names), there's a bevy of deserving names on that big list.
Here are some of my favorites:

Our Favorite TV Moms: A Mother's Day Special
Let’s be honest: I doubt that any of the moms on this list are as awesome as your own mother (suffice it to say that none of them are as amazing as mine). But these women, these television moms, are certainly worthy of mention. You may have grown up with some of them or you may have watched them last week, but one thing’s for sure: they’re moms, and they’re pretty terrific. So, in honor of Mother’s Day (and in no particular order) I present our favorite TV moms.

A Tribute To 'Friday Night Lights'
The end of any game I ever played was always a little sad to me as an athlete. And so it is with Friday Night Lights, which begins airing its final season tonight on NBC (8 PM ET/PT). Many people have already seen its final episodes, either in firstrun on DirecTV or on the DVDs released two weeks ago, but this will be the last broadcast run of what some have called one of the best shows in television history.
I don't know if I'd go that far myself - as I've only watched the fourth season and part of season five - but already, I know that this is still a moment worth recognizing. I ...

Today, after its run on DirecTV and ten days before it debuts on NBC, Universal Home Video has released the fifth and final season of Friday Night Lights on DVD. Here's an inside look at the three-disc release.
The Show
In the interest of not spoiling things for viewers who are waiting to see this last season on NBC, I'm not going to give a detailed review of the fifth season itself. I will say that if you're a fan of the series by this point, it's more of the same - you're going to love this season just as much as you loved the previous four. 'Friday Night Lights' Comes to an End: The Cast on Series-Saving Fans, Graduation, Panther Hate
In the second part of our farewell to Friday Night Lights, producers and cast talk about the show's controversial storylines (murder! abortion!), the show-saving fan campaigns, sending the Taylors to East Dillon and (unbelievably!) hating on the Panthers.

'Friday Night Lights' Comes to An End: Producers and Cast Remember Building Dillon
A closely observed drama about boys becoming men, the comforts and frustrations of small-town life, a family's growing pains, and the lessons learned from football, Friday Night Lights will not soon be forgotten. 2010 Emmys: Who Should Win & Who Will Win
It’s a transitional year for the Emmys, meaning this is one of the more exciting races in recent memories. The flood of new nominees (brought on by a stellar development slate) means that we can no longer rely on the predictable Emmy voting to determine winners. Instead, this is a year where we can see many newcomers emerging and starting a whole new slate of predictable nominees.
Yes, that was a little cynical, but it’s the sad truth of the Emmys – habits are hard to break for the voters. Luckily, this year the virgin nominees have afforded them an extensive choice for brand new habits.

'Women In Trouble' Is Interesting But Flawed
Sebastian Gutierrez is known for being the screenwriter of films like "Snakes On a Plane," "Gothika," and "The Eye," but for his new film "Women in Trouble" he seemed to take a turn from big action films to an independent character piece.
It's heavy with quick paced dialogue, clever and amusing, and it stars ten women as the heart and soul of the story. "Women in Trouble" is a troubled film itself, because while it has some moments of pure acting and writing gold, there are several serious hang ups that the audience will find hard to forgive.

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - '2012,' 'Pirate Radio' & More
At some point this week I hope to catch the wacky comedy "The Men Who Stare at Goats." While I have read some bad reviews of the film, I believe my tendency to disagree with the mainstream, could be a wild card for my own appraisal of the movie.
I'm having difficulty believing the collection of George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges could contribute to a horrific film considering I how much appreciate their abilities on screen.

Q&A With Michael Ausiello: TV Fan, Media Journalist, and Neo-Celebrity (But Don't Try To Tell Him That!)
Michael Ausiello, "Entertainment Weekly's" TV writer, is the "outbreak monkey" of his field. There is a new virus that is affecting the field of media journalism, and that plague is celebrity. The new neo-celebrity status of these journalists has a patient zero - the person we see as the beginning of it all - and that is Ausiello himself.

A Memo To Emmy Voters
Starpulse writer Andrew Payne is getting sick of the snubs by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. And even though Katherine Heigl doesn't want to be an Emmy contender this year, there are plenty of deserving shows, actors and actresses that should be recognized. Here are Payne's suggestions for those casting their ballots this week:
