Why Does Miyam Bialik Think Religion Is ‘Never Going To Be Trendy?’

8/24/2015 8:07pm EDT
Miyam Bialik On Religion In Hollywood: Why Does The 'Big Bang Th
Mayim Bialik’s not afraid to talk about her religion, even if some people might not be too happy about it. The Big Bang Theory actress spoke to Fox News last week about her own religious beliefs (she’s Jewish), and how difficult it is to be open about your faith while also being a celebrity.

She put it pretty bluntly: "I think in general it's never going to be trendy to be observant or religious in Hollywood circles.”

“There are people I know of faith and we tend to congregate together,” Bialik continued. “I study Jewish texts weekly. That's something really positive to me when you're a p...

Celebrities That Turn 40 In 2015
Welcome to 2015 – Big milestones start at around forty so we thought we'd take a look back to the year of 1975 to see who was born that year and what major events transpired.

In 1975 the Vietnam War officially ended as communist forces took Saigon. The average price of gasoline that year was .72 cents while work on the Alaska Pipe Line began. Other historic notes included BIC's launch of the first disposable razor; Microsoft became a registered trademark; Motorola obtained the first portable mobile phone patent; the Altair 8800 microcomputer was released and Ex-teamster boss Jimmy Hoffa va...

Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons & 'Big Bang Theory' Cast Dish On Success And Friendship

9/21/2014 9:00am EDT
People Magazine Big Bang Theory feature
With more than 20 million fans - and hefty new paychecks - the stars of TV's most popular show, The Big Bang Theory, talk to PEOPLE in this week's cover story about their loves, lives and incredible friendships.

As the series enters its eighth season on CBS, perhaps luckily for everyone involved, success didn't happen overnight. Though Johnny Galecki (Leonard) and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting (Penny) had built a reputation on hit sitcoms like Roseanne and 8 Simple Rules, the rest of the show's stars including Simon Helberg (Howard), Melissa Rauch (Bernadette) and Kunal Nayyar (Raj) were largely un...

Mayim Bialik Voices Her Issue With Ariana Grande’s Sexy Billboar
“Big Bang Theory” star Mayim Bialik just isn’t a fan of Ariana Grande.

The girl who personified eclectic and cool during her run in the 1980's hit "Blossom" has found offense to a billboard featuring the singer in a scantily clad outfit and stiletto heels, promoting her new CD, "My Everything."

Bialik, who practices Orthodox Judiasm, took to her blog to criticize a billboard she saw featuring Grande, and within it, she mentioned that she has no idea who the pop singer is.

“There is one for Ariana Grande, and I will go ahead and admit I have no idea who she is or what she does. Based on t...

15 Celebrities Who Desperately Need Makeovers

5/16/2014 3:00am EDT
Miley Cyrus
These celebrities need an intervention - of the fashion kind. Either they look terrible and need help reinventing their images or they've had the same look for years and need to change it up a bit.

Miley Cyrus stunned fans in the summer of 2012 when she chopped off her famous "Hannah Montana" locks and dyed her hair platinum blonde. She made the bold move nearly two years ago, and we'd like to see her do something different again. She's a risk taker, so why not go red or brunette?

The singer has been traveling around for her "Bangerz" tour and has recently taken to raunchy stage antics wi...

18 Female Celebrities Who Graduated From College
The ability to entertain is not the only asset most female celebrities possess. Quite a few of them furthered their education after high school and graduated with top honors from college. Of course, you do not need a college degree to become a successful actor or singer. However, quite often a celebrity, female or male, put their passion on hold to complete their education or continue working while attending college. The following list of the most educated female celebrities may surprise you.

The "American Idol" season four winner Carrie Underwood graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor'...

The Best & Worst Dressed At The 2014 People's Choice Awards

1/9/2014 8:38am EST
Sandra Bullock
The awards season is kicking into high gear, and several stars stepped out for the 40th Annual People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.

Triple winner Sandra Bullock looked sweet in a navy blue, white and green floral dress, but she lacked the "wow" factor on the red carpet.

There were several actresses that stunned, including Jessica Alba, who wore a strapless bandage-type dress with a zipper down the center. Va va voom!

Then there was Malin Akerman, who wore an odd cleavage-baring dress that left us scratching our heads.

Check out the "Best Dressed" stars of the night ...

2013 Emmys Worst Dressed: Heidi Klum's Neck Brace Dress, Lena Dunham's Floral Disaster, More

9/23/2013 11:00am EDT
Heidi Klum
One of the reasons people watch the Emmy Awards (besides cheering on their favorite shows) is to see the fashion. And although we like to get a glimpse of the stars walk the red carpet in their glamorous gowns, we really love to see their fashion missteps.

"Project Runway" host and "America's Got Talent" judge Heidi Klum usually has a keen eye for fashion. But her red Versace gown didn't quite work on Sunday night.

There is such a thing as too many sequins, and the neck brace-like top of her dress looked odd. She resembled a showgirl more than a supermodel.

Other celebs also made some fa...

'Big Bang Theory' Stars Looking For Big Bucks In Salary Renegotiations

9/20/2013 3:01pm EDT
The Big Bang Theory
The Big Bang Theory stars are reportedly looking for big raises.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, series leads Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco, who currently earn $325,000 per episode each, could seek upwards of $1 million per episode, though several sources put the figure around a half-million dollars per episode.

The three stars are currently renegotiating their deals together, something they did in 2010 (Parsons held out and negotiated separately, but he was represented by the same law firm as Galecki and Cuoco). The three leads working together on current negotiations ...

6/12/2013 11:20am EDT
Mayim Bialik
Superman/Clark Kent looks a bit different than you might expect in the upcoming Man of Steel movie. In many of the trailers – and there have been a lot of them – you’ll notice that Clark Kent is sporting a beard in many clips.

But if he’s truly a Man of Steel—how does he shave?

Gillette wondered the same things and launched to post theories from ordinary people and some of the best authorities on the planet, including comic-book extraordinaire Kevin Smith, as well as PhD holder and Amy on The Big Bang Theory, Mayim Bialik.

Julie Bowen
The red carpet was full of bright colors at the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards last night, but yellow was the most popular. "Modern Family" star Julie Bowen, winner of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, looked oustanding in a strapless canary yellow gown.

"Homeland" winner Claire Danes, who is several months pregnant, also opted for a strapless yellow dress that was (obviously) more loose fitting than Julie's.

"Game Change" winner Julianne Moore picked a more conservative yellow gown with long sleeves, a higher neckline and a billowing skirt.

Courtney Thorne-Smith
Courtney Thorne-Smith has made a name for herself in television, whether you remember her breakout role on the original Melrose Place, or her portrayal of Georgia Thomas on Ally McBeal, or her stint as Cheryl on the long-running According To Jim. These days, she's brought her experience and energy to Two and a Half Men as Lyndsey MacElroy, the on-again, off-again girlfriend of Alan (Jon Cryer).

I recently talked with Courtney about what she enjoys about the role, her thoughts on the transition from Charlie Sheen to Ashton Kutcher, and if she can possibly pick a favorite part from her sma...

10 Favorite Small Screen Scene-Stealers

3/12/2012 2:00pm EDT
neil patrick harris
I once had dreams of becoming an Emmy-Winning actress, but thanks to a traumatizing audition for a middle school drama club and being roughly a few inches shy of Snooki-esque shortness, those dreams never panned out. I’m happy to leave the acting to the professionals, and admire their work as a fan and critic. For this television-aholic, there’s nothing better than beholding a great actor who steals every frame of their scenes.

Here is a list of my favorite scene-stealers:

Neil Patrick Harris, “How I Met Your Mother”

Sexual tension is the essence of situational comedy and drama. What characters are you dying to see hook up? Here’s our top 5.

5. Andy and Erin, "The Office"

Ed Helms has made the post-Steve Carell era of "The Office" surprisingly good. Andy is currently dating Jessica, but everybody is rooting for Andy and Erin (Ellie Kemper) to get together. Erin just left for a three week business trip, and Andy is thinking about proposing to Jessica. Will these two ever get together?

4. Jess and Nick, "New Girl"

"New Girl" has been one of the best new shows of the year, and most of that i...

Q&A: 'The Big Bang Theory's' Mayim Bialik

9/29/2011 11:58am EDT
Mayim Bialik
You know how there's that person you just know is smarter than you? Mayim Bialik is one of those people.

Yes, the actress plays a scientist on CBS' hit comedy The Big Bang Theory, but art imitates life: she also has her own Ph.D. in Neuroscience from UCLA, and oh yeah, she's written a book, too. I'll admit that during our first interview last year I was actually a little intimidated. Mayim recently sat down with me again to discuss what's happening in season five of Big Bang and how she's flexing her real-life smarts.

We literally just started season five of Big Bang Theory. Can you ta...

The Vampire Diaries, CW

Thursday, September 9, 8/7c

When "The Vampires Diaries" aired last fall it managed to become much more than just the supernatural "Gossip Girl'' that many had expected. It was a well-written, well-acted series that was intriguing enough to make you want to tune in every week. Its first season was a sexy, violent ride that once a week made the new vampire craze a little...

We all have our favorite shows, especially the ones we used to beg mom and dad to let us stay up and watch. Or the shows we watched with our friends every week and discussed the next day in school because it was the most exciting event in our lives. Most of these shows are played in syndication, but the true fans want to know what's going on with our favorite characters now.

Here are the top shows that we'd love to see do reunion specials:

It's been 20 years since "Saved by the Bell," TV's first live-action Saturday morning sitcom debuted. The show started as "Good Morning, Miss Blis...

Mayim Bialik Discusses 'Saving Grace', 'What Not To Wear', And Yes 'Blossom'

Mayim Bialik
Mayim Bialik -- Yes, that Mayim Bialik -- is appearing tonight (Tuesday at 10 pm ET on TNT) as the daughter of a murder victim on "Saving Grace." Don't assume she's the culprit just because you're thinking, as Mayim says, "why else would Blossom be in the first scene" as she was on "Bones" last season --which would have been a false prophecy, it turns out. Mayim also discusses her recent (and quite popular) appearance on "What Not to Wear" and talks about her time on a show called "Blossom."

Mayim Bialik: Hello!

Mike: Hi Mayim, how are you?

Mayim Bialik: OK, how are you?
