The captivating wartime adventure of romance and intrigue from director Michael Curtiz defies standard categorization. "Casablanca" is the story of Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), a world-weary ex-freedom fighter who runs a nightclub in Casablanca during the early part of WWII.

Despite pressure from the local authorities, notably the crafty Capt. Renault (Claude Rains), Rick's cafe has become a haven for refugees looking to purchase illicit letters of transit which will allow them to escape to America.

One day, to Rick's great surprise, he is approached by the famed rebel Victor Laszlo (Pa...

Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet's doomed relationship in 1997 film Titanic has earned them the title of most romantic onscreen couple of all time.

More than 500,000 people were polled for the ABC TV and People magazine movie rundown, and the stars earned almost a quarter of the votes for their turn in James Cameron's epic.

The romance between Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh in 1939 classic Gone with the Wind was rated the second most romantic film pairing, while Richard Gere and Julia Roberts' unlikely coupling in Pretty Woman landed them third in the survey.

Casablanca couple Humphrey B...

Review: 'Julie & Julia': Meryl Streep Shows Her Brilliance

August 4th, 2009 10:28am EDT
Julie & Julia
My God: Please enjoy every precious moment Meryl Streep ever spends in front of a movie camera. People wax poetically about the days when Bette Davis, Greta Garbo (anyone else that Kim Carnes mentioned?), Katharine Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman and Vivien Leigh graced the silver screen: The Golden Age of Hollywood! True, true (with a special emphasis on Bergman that, umm, someone may have a crush on) but, right now, arguably, the best actress that ever lived still humbles us with her presence. The odds are that no popular music artist will ever record a song based on her, but, goddammit, they sho...

June 5th, 2008 9:00am EDT
The Sixth Sense
There are some movies that live forever in the minds of humanity generation after generation. They span decades, continents, and cross racial and gender divides. What creates that certain magic is intangible, but it inevitably involves the memorable quotes that make their way into pop culture and every day speech.

These quotes have a universal quality, whether humorous or tragic, and they take you back to that exact moment in the film when Marlon Brando screams into the air or Humphrey Bogart gently touches Ingrid Bergman's chin. These iconic moments are not only remembered but consta...
