'The Chicago Code' 1.01 'Pilot' Advance Review

January 31st, 2011 2:30pm EST
Chicago Code
A funny thing happened to me when I started watching The Chicago Code. I wasn't seeing it the way a lot of people might. You see, I've had a rocky relationship at best with Shawn Ryan's previous shows; I didn't catch on to The Shield until season six, and I'm still trying to forget the disappointing fourth season of The Unit. I mention that because I want to make it clear his pedigree didn't win me over when it came to this series. Nor did the persistent advertising campaign. What turned my head was the final product: a series that is everything the best police dramas should be.

I...

'Lie To Me' 3.12 'Gone' Review

January 25th, 2011 1:01am EST
Lie To Me
If anything, tonight's Lie To Me proves that some people just shouldn't have kids.

The episode centers around a child abduction, and while the mother Collette (Episodes star Kathleen Rose Perkins) blames unknown assailants, her husband Lane (Doug Hutchison, who strangely also just appeared in the episode "Funhouse" two weeks ago as the victim there, at least if you believe FOX's official press releases) would rather hold her responsible for losing their daughter. The situation blatantly exposes how dysfunctional their marriage is, namely because of how emotionally abusive he is. To find...

Brittany's TCA 2011 Blog: FOX - 'Chicago Code,' 'American Idol,' 'Terra Nova,' & More

January 12th, 2011 12:00pm EST
Chicago Code
FOX had its Television Critics Association presentation Tuesday, and from my front-row (literally) seat, I confirmed what I felt has been the case for awhile: while the network has consistently strong dramas, it still needs to find some reliable comedies - at least when it comes to ones that aren't animated.

Here's how the day played out:

The Chicago Code

The highlight of my day was easily the presentation for Shawn Ryan's new drama, The Chicago Code (premiering February 7). Given Ryan's pedigree as the creator of The Shield, The Unit and the recently axed Terriers, the buzz - and the ex...

And The Sexiest Music Videos Are...

March 4th, 2008 2:45pm EST
Shakira
What's hotter than your favorite music artist, model or actress shaking her booty, or pelvis for that matter, in a music video? We compiled a list of some of the sexiest music videos that get our pulses pumping and thumping:

5. Jennifer Lopez, "I'm Glad" (2003)

Video Concept: An homage to the 1983 film Flashdance, only with lots more junk in the trunk.

Okay, I admit it. I'm a huge fan of "Flashdance," and I watch it each and every time I come across it. She's "just a steel town girl on a Saturday night," welding by day and moonlighting as an artistic stripper, and I'm sucke...

Marlee Matlin
ABC News is reporting that Marlee Matlin is joining the cast of The L Word. The series centers on a tight-knit group of very attractive lesbians, all living and working in Los Angeles.

Forty-year-old Matlin will play "a fiery artist who catches the attention of Jennifer Beals' character, Bette Porter," the cable network announced Friday.
