Josephine Baker's second Columbia long-player was a 10" platter devoted to her French-language versions of American songs such as "I've Got You Under My Skin" ("Vous Faites Parties de Moi"); "Goodnight My Love" ("Bonsoir My Love"); and "There's a Small Hotel" ("C'est un Nid Charmont"), among others. The music is a fine showcase for a singer who, though perhaps a decade past her prime, could still work a song like nobody's business.
