'Hawaii Five-0' Recap: 'Ki'ilua' (2.10)

November 22nd, 2011 2:06am EST
Hawaii Five-O
This week's Hawaii Five-0 feels like a sweeps episode. Our hero held at gunpoint by a former friend and in need of rescue? Definite attention-getter. Thankfully, "Ki'ilua" doesn't stop there, keeping hold of us through the hour.

Before we get to that point, though, we must deal with the murder of investigative reporter Bethany Morris (Kaytlin Borgen), who gets yanked out from under her bed like Maggie Grace in Taken. The obvious question is "What was she working on that got her killed?" Seems Bethany was a whistleblower poking her nose around in corporate business. Nothing you have...

The 10th Anniversary Of '24'

November 6th, 2011 3:17pm EST
24
How time flies: 10 years ago today, 24 premiered on FOX, and television - not to mention pop culture and the world - was never the same.

The action-drama series, created by La Femme Nikita bosses Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, and starring Kiefer Sutherland as now-famous government agent Jack Bauer, was a groundbreaking piece of entertainment. In concept ...

'Hawaii Five-0' Recap: 'Ma'ema'e' (2.05)

October 18th, 2011 2:03am EDT
Hawaii Five-O
The number-one question I've heard all season when it comes to Hawaii Five-0 has been, "What's happening with Kono?" Well, tonight we finally got that train leaving the station. Would that be enough?

When a beloved college volleyball coach (Joe Toro) gets killed in his own locker room, Five-0 is on the case. The coach was living in the guest house of an affluent couple, Karl and Trisha Joyner (Rob Duval and Meredith Monroe), which gives Danny room to gripe about being underpaid and over-shot at. (This would have been a better cargument if it had happened last season, don't you thin...

TV On DVD: 'ER: The Complete Fourteenth Season'

January 11th, 2011 8:00am EST
ER
Today sees the release of ER: The Complete Fourteenth Season from Warner Home Video. It's the longrunning medical drama's next-to-last season, presented in a five-disc, nineteen-episode set (this is the year that was abbreviated by the Writers Guild of America strike). Take a look with me inside the latest volume of cases and complications at Chicago's County General.

The Show

When ER was on, I was never a fan; I much preferred its competition, Chicago Hope. However, much like that series did an abrupt crash and burn in its final season, the fourteenth season of ER is not its finest -...
