Hayley Atwell has caused an uproar by deeming critically acclaimed movie 12 Years A Slave as "torture porn".

The British actress sparked a debate on Twitter when she shared her thoughts on Steve McQueen's movie, which tells the true story of a free man who is kidnapped and sold into slavery.

Atwell described the real life story as "remarkable" but criticized McQueen's inclusion of scenes depicting brutal rape and violence.

British actress Hayley Atwell has landed the lead role in a new TV show based on Captain America.

The 2012 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTAs) were overshadowed on Sunday by the Grammy Awards and the passing of superstar Whitney Houston, but we have some great photos from the event.

Many stars stuck to their favorite hues - black and white - but there were a few colorful celebs in the bunch.

"The Artist" was this year's biggest winner, taking home seven awards: Best Film, Best Actor for star Jean Dujardin, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Original Music and Best Costume Design.

In movies, E.T., Tootsie and Gandhi ruled the box office while Chariots of Fire took best picture at the Academy Awards that year. Also taking home Oscar gold for best actor and actress in 1982 respectively were Katharine Hepburn and Henry Fonda for On Golden Pond. In music Michael Jackson released Thriller which sold more than 25 million copies, becoming the biggest selling album in history.
