Sam Worthington Settles Paparazzo Assault Case

Sam Worthington has reached a deal and won't be charged with attacking a photographer during an altercation in February.

The New York Daily News reports Worthington's lawyer submitted a signed statement reading, "I understand that as long as I continue to lead a law abiding life, this matter will be dismissed and sealed."

The offer for dismissal is fairly standard for low-level crimes committed by first-time offenders. Worthington was facing a maximum of one year in jail for third-degree assault, third-degree attempted assault and second-degree harassment.

The photographer involved in a fight with actor Sam Worthington has released the video of the incident.

Photographer Li Shang was taping Worthington's girlfriend Lara Bingle as she talked on a phone and walked down the street. Bingle appears to walk right at Shang before the camera starts to shake, leading Shang to say something that sound like, "Bitch, don't touch me."

Bingle responds, "Stop following me." Shang continues to film Bingle, saying, "She just assaulted me."

Sam Worthington Arrested For Punching Photographer In NYC
"Avatar" star Sam Worthington was arrested over the weekend for punching a photographer who allegedly kicked his girlfriend Lara Bingle in the shin.

The couple were leaving Cubbyhole bar in Greenwich Village, New York City, when the incident occurred. The Austrailian star reportedly shouted at the photographer, named Sheng Li, "You kicked my wife."

The NYPD told TMZ.com that the actor punched the paparazzo in the face. He was arrested, charged with assault, and then released on bail. Li was also arrested and booked for reckless endangerment, assault and harassment.

Australian actor Sam Worthington is heading back to TV in a new mini-series to portray an Australian journalist during the First World War.

The Avatar star will play reporter Phillip Schuler, who, along with media mogul Rupert Murdoch's father Keith Murdoch, was embedded alongside soldiers in Turkey during the Gallipoli Campaign between 1915 and 1916.

The 37 year-old actor will shoot the four-part series, entitled The Gallipoli Story, on home soil in south Australia next year, before he heads to New Zealand to start work on the Avatar sequels.

Avatar star Sam Worthington has admitted he acted like "a jerk" on the night he was arrested for disorderly conduct in Georgia last year.

The Australian actor was taken into custody by police after he became involved in a bust-up with a bouncer outside an Atlanta nightclub in November.

Avatar actor Sam Worthington was arrested in Georgia on Saturday following an alleged altercation with bouncers at a nightclub.

The Hollywood star reportedly grew violent when he was denied entrance to Atlanta bar Vortex.

Doormen had to subdue the Australian star with pepper spray until local police arrived and took an allegedly drunk Worthington into custody.

The entire incident was captured on a surveillance tape and the actor was later charged with disorderly conduct, according to TMZ.com.

"The Grey" appears to be box office gold - it raked in $20 million at the weekend to take top spot in the box office chart.

Liam Neeson's adventure drama bumped Kate Beckinsale's horror film "Underworld: Awakening" to second place with takings of $12.5 million.

Coming in at a close third was Katherine Heigl's bounty hunter comedy "One For the Money" with earnings of $11.8 million.
