Brown haired, wiry actor/bartender Dean Winters was born on July 20, 1964, in New York City. He grew up on Long Island and spent his teenage years in Scottsdale, AZ. He got a late start to his acting career. When he was 27 he joined his younger brother in an acting class. Soon after, while bartending, he met the creator of the HBO drama series "OZ," Tom Fontana, who offered him the role as Ryan O'Riley. His movie credits include "Hellraiser: Hellseeker," " All Shook Up" "Conspiracy Theory" and the 1999 romantic comedy "Undercover Angel" with Yasmine Bleeth. He's had guest-starring roles on the TV shows "Sex and The City," "CSI: Miami" and "Third Watch," but he is most known for his role as Johnny Gavin on FX's hit show "Rescue Me." Dean is trained in tai chi and boxing and is fluent in Italian.
