Van Williams was a Warner Bros. Contract player in the early 1960's when that studio had a full fledged roster of very talented and popular Stars such as Troy Donahue, Connie Stevens, Ty Hardin, Dorothy Provine, Chad Everett, Diane McBain, Edd Byrnes, Shirley Knight, Peter Brown, et al. Van Williams was cast in Josh Logan's "Tall Story" which starred Jane Fonda- in one of her earliest film roles -and Tony Perkins, and Van Williams had a brief cameo in that film doing at the time a risque semi \nude scene. Warners used Van Williams mostly in TV and starred him in the hit tv show "Surfside Six" with Lee Paterson and Diane McBain and Troy Donahue both of whom had a great hit starring in the movie "Parrish" at WB Van Williams who stood behind Donahue and Hardin when getting Leading Man roles at his home studio WB and Mr. Williams found better roles on loanout to UA for "The Caretakers" with Robert Stack, Polly Bergen, Janis Paige and Miss McBain and in a cameo Miss Joan Crawford who deemed the very handsome Van Williams "Delectable". Van Williams found his biggest acclaim in TV's "The Green Hornet" with Bruce Lee and that show has reached iconic status and has been seen endlessly in re runs. Texas born Van Williams, who came across as a very decent and fine Guy, soon lost interest in his career took some guest roles and then retired. Joan Crawford-who knew them all- had it right when she commented in the "old Studio days" Van Williams would have been a very big star | ||

Itls too bad Van retiredso soon. I think he would have done well. I miss him on TV. | ||

I have been a Van Williams fan since I was a child. Writing has always been a hobby for me, I like writing episodes. my favorite type of stories are the adventure/romance ones. Just for fun I always put Van williams in my stories. | ||
