Bosses at The CW network just announced "Gossip Girl" will end after a shortened 11-episode sixth season next fall. The show is based on Cecily von Ziegesar's book series of the same name.

"Gossip Girl" debuted strongly in 2007 and quickly became a global phenomenon. Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick and Penn Badgley star.

The 100th episode of "Gossip Girl" airs Monday, Jan. 30, and will open with a musical dream sequence featuring Serena (Blake Lively), Blair (Leighton Meester) and all the men in their lives (Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick and Hugo Becker). Leighton plays Audrey Hepburn while Blake channels Marilyn Monroe.
