Burton and Taylor
Check out Helena Bonham Carter and Dominic West above, in character and on-again-off-again Hollywood couple Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.

Carter and West play the two in an upcoming 90-minute drama, "Burton and Taylor," airing this fall on BBC. It will follow the star's relationship as they appear in the 1983 play "Private Lives." The two would be playing essentially themselves in a story about two divorcees who discover they had rooms next to one another on their honeymoon with their new partners (Burton and Taylor had already divorced twice before starring in the play). The show w...

Two Jews' Review 'John Carter' And Are Worlds Apart (Video)

March 8th, 2012 2:00pm EST
John Carter
Two Jews on Film - By Joan Alperin Schwartz: Okay, so first I have to say that I loved 'John Carter', the Disney 3D Sci-Fi adventure film directed by Andrew Stanton (WALL-E). The plot can seem slightly more complicated than it is, so I'll just give you the main points.

First, there's John Carter (the very handsome, Taylor Kitsch) a post Civil War Veteran who's absolutely fed up with war. All he wants to do is find, a certain cave, (that is supposedly filled with gold) and spend the rest of his life far far away from any kind of conflict. Good luck with that.

While running away from the U...

'John Carter' Stars Partied Every Night In Utah Motel

February 21st, 2012 8:42am EST
John Carter
British actor Dominic West had the time of his life shooting new movie "John Carter" on location in Utah because he and his co-stars turned their motel into a "frathouse", holding big parties every night.

The star appears in the Disney sci-fi epic alongside Willem Dafoe, Thomas Haden Church, James Purefoy and Taylor Kitsch as the titular character, an American Civil War captain who is transported to Mars.

West admits there was not much to do in between filming in the picturesque state - so the cast made their own fun back at their motel.

He tells WENN, "Off set was a dream. We were in th...

TV on DVD: 'The Hour'

October 6th, 2011 3:00pm EDT
The Hour
Take a trip back in time with BBC's The Hour, as the 1950's era news drama has now arrived on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Starring Romola Garai, Dominic West (The Wire) and Ben Wishaw (Brideshead Revisited), The Hour is a period drama following the establishment of a new current affairs program at the venerable broadcaster. A second series has already been ordered.

I must admit that I was not sold on The Hour as were many other critics. Though I had high hopes from the critical buzz, I found the first hour to be slow and muddled, and there was nothing in it that made me want to come back for more....

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Takers,' 'The Last Exorcism,' & More

August 23rd, 2010 8:56am EDT
Takers
I took a breather from the theaters last week to catch some movies on DVD that I had not seen yet. I was quite impressed with last year’s indie drama “Uncertainty” starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The film focuses on a couple (Levitt and Lynn Collins) that is unsure how to spend their 4th of July. They flip a coin to determine their fate, and after the coin hits the ground, they run in opposite directions into separate stories.

Both tales include the couple attempting to reach a critical decision while grappling with the potential repercussions of this choice. In the first storyline, Bo...

Prior to the wedding, West said, "I'm so nervous I can barely speak," while Fitzgerald told reporters outside the ceremony: "I feel so excited, really happy, really thrilled. It's a fairytale."

Dominic West's Sex Scene Torment

June 1st, 2010 12:10pm EDT
Dominic West
Dominic West dreads filming sex scenes - because he is frequently "star-struck" by his beautiful female co-stars. The Wire actor struggles with nerves before disrobing in front of his leading ladies, admitting he lacks the confidence to strut onto the set naked.

He tells Britain's Reveal magazine, "I felt self-conscious. Whenever I have a love scene with a beautiful woman, it is always me who's naked. I did it with Calista Flockhart in Midsummer Night's Dream and I was the idiot in Mona Lisa Smile, surrounded by all these gorgeous women such as Julia Stiles and Maggie Gyllenhaal."

"I ha...

'The Wire' Demonstrates The Rotating Cycle Of Tragedy

February 12th, 2008 8:55am EST
The Wire
In the first true blow-away episode of its final season, "The Wire" examined a group ignored heretofore by the show and currently by the media: the government and simple everyday people.

This season has seen McNulty (Dominic West) inventing a serial killer supposedly preying on the homeless, but not until last night did we meet any of these people. "The Dickensian Aspect" brought those supposed victims to the forefront in two separate plot points.

The first found fabricating news reporter Scott Templeton (Thomas McCarthy) wanting to expound upon his coverage of the killings follo...

Upcoming Comic Book Films Worth Checking Out, Part 2

January 11th, 2008 12:03pm EST
Hellboy II: The Golden Army
"Hellboy II: The Golden Army" (July 11)

This is a sequel to the first "Hellboy" and is based off an enormously well received series created by Dark Horse Comics. Hellboy is the greatest supernatural detective and blends many aspects of classical horror and magic with a uniquely dry sense of humor.

The first movie was moderately popular, and the DVD sales were positive enough that a sequel was given the green light. It will be directed again by Guillermo del Toro, and star Ron Perlman as Hellboy, Selma Blair as Liz, and Doug Jones as Abe Sapien.

"Hellboy" has always been a f...
