Chris Weitz 'Regrets' Directing 'The Golden Compass'
Director Chris Weitz has branded fantasy flop The Golden Compass his "greatest professional regret."
The American Pie filmmaker helmed the eagerly awaited 2007 movie, which starred Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman.
The film, based on the hugely successful but controversial His Dark Materials novel series by Philip Pullman, was expected to be the first of a lucrative franchise, but the movie flopped at the box office and the sequels have never been made.
And Weitz blames its failure on studio boss' insistence on stripping key elements of the novel because they have been perceived as anti-...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Cars 2,' 'Bad Teacher' & More
The long-awaited superhero flick “Green Lantern” was a huge disappointment last week. Normally I love Ryan Reynolds for his smug sarcasm and his lovable slacker type characters, but not even he could save this exercise in superficial storytelling. If you haven’t already read it, check out my review, for my complete thoughts.
Arriving in theaters this week are the Disney Pixar sequel “Cars 2,” the R-rated Cameron Diaz comedy “Bad Teacher,” and the Los Angeles drama “A Better Life.” I will be attending a screening of “Bad Teacher,” so definitely watch out for a review later in the week. ...

Q&A: Kristen Stewart On 'New Moon,' Taylor Lautner, & Robert Pattinson
At first it seemed like being the leading lady of a number one franchise would be too much for Kristen Stewart to handle. On her first round of press for Twilight, she appeared intensely nervous. She was photographed smoking a bong and later incurred the wrath of Twihards with some poor choice of words.
Two movies and a year of press later, Stewart seems a much mellower, well adjusted lady. Maybe it's her Joan Jett hair that projects a more carefree attitude, but her body language is definitely more comfortable, and she speaks with decisive confidence. At least she did in her press confe...

'Twilight' Fans Get Bonus DVD Footage and New Direction In 'New Moon'
Twilight fans who can't wait to see more of their vampire love affairs in movie theaters, can expect more on the film's DVD. Kristen Stewart, who stars as Bella, prepared to have all her humorous gaffes exposed in the outtakes.
"I love outtakes," Stewart said. "I love when the fantasy is broken down and revealed to everyone. I think it's funny. Literally, there wasn't a day that went by that we didn't have camera crews on set so I'm sure that they have hours of footage to cut together for the eager audience."

Director: 'Will Stay Loyal To 'Twilight' Story'
Moviemaker Chris Weitz has promised to stay true to the original story while shooting the sequel to hit vampire film Twilight - because he doesn't want to enrage loyal fans.
The director was taken on to helm New Moon, the follow up to the bloodsucking blockbuster, in place of Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke. And Stephenie Meyer, who wrote the Twilight series of books, insists there is no need for fans to turn on Weitz with "torches and pitchforks" because he will not be changing the plot.

The Vatican Condemns Anti-Christmas 'Golden Compass'
Catholic Church officials at The Vatican have condemned Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig's new family film The Golden Compass, stating the movie is anti-Christian.
The religious leaders claim the movie, based on atheist author Philip Pullman's fantasy book Northern Lights, promotes a cold and hopeless world without God.
In an article in The Vatican's newspaper l'Osservatore Romano, Pullman is also heavily criticised for writing the book.
Catholic leaders urged the faithful to boycott the movie when it was released earlier this month.
