Mega Oscar Diary

February 23rd, 2009 9:22am EST
Sean Penn
Before we get started on the Mega Oscar Diary, let's go to a few random ramblings from the cadre of pre-shows around the dial:

-Philip Seymour Hoffman's hat probably came with a matching set of fingerless gloves.

-Those who were unable to see the Los Angeles CW affiliate's pre-show missed this exchange.

-The CW's Female Host: What is the role you'd love to do next. If you could do anything following 'The Wrestler' what would it be?

-Mickey Rourke: (Slowly eyes her up from head to toe with a knowing smile and walks off.)

-I know a lot of people care about fashion, ...

Actor James Franco was forced to "milk" a man dressed as a cow to earn his Hasty Pudding Man of the Year at America's Harvard University. The Spider-Man star received the wacky tribute from the prestigious Massachusetts college's amateur theatrical organization as part of their annual award ceremony.

Franco donned a blonde wig, gold bra and purple high-heeled shoes to accept the award, his challenges included milking a "gay" cow to symbolize his role in new movie Milk. He was also handed a fake bag of marijuana for his role as a clueless cannabis dealer in 2008's Pineapple Express.

Stars Who Were Probably Abducted

Artists. They sing, dance, paint and act. Most parents would consider their child confused and misguided if they declared, "I'm going to be an artist!" and do everything possible to persuade him or her to go to college, grad school or into temping. ANYTHING else that provides a more consistent and reliable income. Among the occupations that can lead to the starving artist syndrome is the usual pairing of actor and waitress. Living off small tips might lead to the sometimes bizarre behavior of Hollywood's up and comers, but the crazy trait runs stronger in some unique actors…and crazy is wha...

'Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!' & Other Memorable TV Quotes

July 14th, 2008 8:45am EDT

When the television became available in the early 20th century, who would have ever thought it could became such a vital part of pop culture and media coverage? These days the "Boob Tube" still holds power over even the most casual of viewers with its advertising campaigns and storytelling prime time shows.

The television is used to entertain as well as inform, and over the years thousands of shows were created to catch the attention of the public. Only so many shows are able to grab the love and approval of audiences, and even less than that stay memorable after years pass on. Here a...

About three weeks ago, one of the world's best comedians and the first host of "Saturday Night Live" passed away. Here at the worldwide offices of overrated/underrated, we felt a tribute was in order. Problem is, there's nothing you can say about George Carlin that fits the motif. Nothing he did was either under or overrated: He was just great.

Still, respects must be paid in some manner, so instead this article will honor the first host of "Saturday Night Live", by running down a list of the most overrated and underrated frequent hosts of that show. For this article, entrants must ...

The Best & Worst Films By Quentin Tarantino

April 24th, 2008 8:30am EDT
Quentin Tarantino
The serendipitous career of eccentric movie producer, director and writer Quentin Tarantino is a complex one. Tarantino has made a name for himself by creating nonlinear storylines and filming multiple perspectives from different characters in his movies - a technique that strays from the more commonly used straight-time storyline.

His films are not off the wall, but they invoke an element of surprise that comes from the small details within a scene that catches one off guard and by adding mysterious elements that never get explained. A good example of this was in Pulp Fiction when M...

The Five Best & Worst Films Starring John Travolta

April 10th, 2008 2:00pm EDT
Grease
John Travolta has been acting for over 30 years since his burst onto the scene as hot disco stud Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever. In the early 80s he went into an acting slump, starring in disappointing films left and right.

Then he made his comeback in 1994 as Vincent Vega in Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction. Since then, he has been in dozens of movies, been nominated for two Academy Awards and won a Golden Globe. Travolta is now a little older, a little chubbier and a little balder, but we still admire his work as he continues to dance his way onto the silver screen.
