Andy and Lana Wachowski will be directing an original series for Netflix. The filmmakers are teaming up with "Babylon" creator J. Michael Straczynski to create 10 episodes of science fiction series "Sense8."

The siblings issued the statement: "We've wanted to work with Joe Straczynski for years, chiefly due to the fact his name is harder to pronounce than ours, but also because we share a love of genre and all things nerdy.

"Several years ago, we had a late night conversation about the ways technology simultaneously unites and divides us, and out of that paradox Sense8 was born."

Filmmaker Andy Wachowski and his transgendered sister Lana are facing a $300 million lawsuit over allegations they stole the premise for their two The Matrix sequels.

The directing duo has been accused by Thomas Althouse of copying the ideas for The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions from a script he claims to have submitted to executives at Warner Bros. Pictures, the studio behind the franchise, in 1993.

The Matrix filmmakers Andy and Larry Wachowski have been offered the chance to take over the Superman franchise and make a trilogy of movies about the Man of Steel, according to reports.

The superhero franchise has been on hold since 2006's Superman Returns, which was directed by Bryan Singer.

According to movie website Ain't it Cool News, Singer has turned down the chance to make another Superman movie, paving the way for studios bosses at Warner Bros. to offer the job to the Wachowskis.

Gina Gershon is desperate to appear in a sequel to cult movie Bound because she enjoyed filming the original so much. The star insists all it would take is a call from directors Andy and Larry Wachowski for her to sign up to star in a follow-up to the 1996 crime thriller.

She says, "I would love to do it. If they wrote it and said, 'Do it,' I'd do it in a second."
