Former ER star to play Halle Berry's husband in new TV drama

Former Er star Goran Visnjic will play Halle Berry's husband in the upcoming U.S. TV thriller Extant.

The Croatian actor will romance the Oscar winner when she makes her return to the small screen in the Steven Spielberg executive produced drama.

Visnjic will play John Watts, the husband to Berry's Molly Watts, a female astronaut returning home after spending a year in space.

NCIS actor Michael O'Neill also joins the cast, alongside former The Practice star Camryn Manheim.

Berry's last TV series credit was in a recurring role on U.S. soap opera Knots Landing in 1991.

By Joan Alperin Schwartz: All I can say is...'Beginners' had me from the moment Ewan McGregor looks deep into the eyes of his newly acquired Jack Russel Terrier and says...'Look it's lonely out here so you and I better learn how to talk to each other'. The camera does a close up on the dog and the caption on the screen reads...I understand 150 words but I don't speak any.

ER star Goran Visnjic has agreed to pay $1,800 a-month in child support for the baby girl he doubted was his. The married actor admitted impregnating fellow Croatian Mirela Rupic in 2006 after she sued Visnjic, insisting he was the father of her child.

Rupic claimed the actor, who plays Dr. Luka Kovac on ER, accepted little Lana Lourdes was his daughter and sent monthly $1,000 checks to help the single mom. However when the money stopped, the angry mother launched a legal campaign and went public with Visnjic's lovechild.

ER heartthrob Goran Visnjic has confirmed he is the father of a baby girl after the child's mother filed a claim for child support in his native Croatia. The actor - who plays Doctor Luke Kovac in the medical drama - previously claimed he remembered nothing about his affair with Mirela Rupic in the summer of 2006 because he was jet lagged and drunk.

But Rupic, who is from the star's hometown of Sibenik, Croatia, insists he knew about the pregnancy and had been paying her $1,000 a month until July and claims she only launched the lawsuit when the payments stopped.

E.R. star Goran Visnjic and his wife Ivana have adopted a baby boy in Los Angeles. The Visnjics have named the new addition to their family, who was born on April 19 at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Tin Visnjic - after the late Croatian poet.

ER heartthrob Goran Visnjic has reportedly quit the hit hospital drama. The Croatian actor, who plays Dr. Luca Kovac, is thought to be leaving the show at the end of the current series. Visnjic, 34, joined the medical drama in 1999.

However, TV bosses want Visnjic to star in a further six episodes to allow them time to write him out of the storyline, which involves his relationship with Dr. Abby Lockhart, played by Maura Tierney.

Hugh Laurie's TV doctor, Gregory House, has topped a new U.S. survey of trustworthy medics. The House character beat off Grey's Anatomy doc Derek Shepherd, played by Patrick Dempsey, and ER's Dr. Luka Kovac (Goran Visnjic) in the TV Guide magazine poll.

Laurie's House claimed 36 percent of the vote, while second placed Dr. Shepherd picked up 22 percent - one more than Dr. Kovac, who was third. Other TV doctors featured include "ER" character Dr. Kerry Weaver (Laura Innes) and Scrubs' John 'JD' Dorian.

ER will provide a showcase for several marquee Emmy Award-winning and nominated guest stars this fall with a roster that includes Andre Braugher, John Mahoney and a return appearance of Oscar and Emmy winner Sally Field, who reprises the series role that won her an Emmy.

Hunky actor Goran Visnjic is set to star in a new film about war crimes in Croatia, an issue which holds painful memories for him. Croatian-born Visnjic, who plays Dr. Luka Kovac in hospital drama ER, will play Ante Gotovina, a Croatian general who was arrested in December 2005 for alleged involvement in crimes against ethnic Serbians in the 1990s.
