Birth Name: Jacob Vargas

Mexican-American actor Jacob Vargas was born on August 18, 1971, in Michoacan, Mexico, but moved to California at age one.

Jacob's first big break came when he was cast as a street dancer on the hit television series "Diff'rent Strokes."

He had small roles on the TV shows "The Tracey Ullman Show" and "Malibu Shores"; and he appeared in the films "Jarhead," "Bobby," "The Hills Have Eyes II" and the remake of "Flight of the Phoenix."

But he his best known for his role as Tijuana cop Manolo Sanchez in the highly acclaimed thriller "Traffic."

He also co-produced and starred in the stage play "Latinologues," which ran on Broadway in 2005.

He is married to grade school teacher Sylvia Arzate, and they have a daughter named Rose.
