'Artist' Star Uggie Named Humane Society Spokesdog
Jack Russell Terrier Uggie, the adorable star of "The Artist," is the new face of The Humane Society. The dog, who retired from filmmaking last year, is the new spokesdog for the Pets of Valor Awards, which honor rescue dogs and cats for their random acts of heroism.
Uggie famously pulled his "Artist" co-star Jean Dujardin out of a burning building in the Oscar-winning film. He also appeared in the Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson film "Water For Elephants."
Uggie's trainer Omar Von Muller stated: "Uggie's honoured to have been chosen by The Humane Society of the United States to be...

A Brief Glimpse Of Stardom: 10 Celebs Who Had Their 15 Minutes Of Fame In 2012
Not every star can have the longevity of a Michael Caine. Some enjoy the lights for stardom for all but a few brief moments. Here are the stars who had their 15 Minutes of Fame in 2012:
Jeremy Lin - Lin was the talk of New York during the 2011-2012 NBA season, when he became the breakout star of the Knicks. He was on the cover of every sports section during the height of "Linsanity," and even got on the cover of TIME magazine. Now? He's playing for the Houston Rockets, where he averages 10 points and 6 assists per game. Not bad, but certainly not cover-of-Time-magazine good.

The ceremony also marked Uggie's retirement from acting. His trainer, 49-year-old Omar Von Muller, said in February the dog is suffering from a mystery shak...

And they chose Uggie to front the campaign after hearing the heart-rending tale of how the Jack Russell was rescued by a dog trainer when he was an unwanted puppy.

Lindsay Lohan Attending White House Correspondents' Dinner - See Guest List Of The Stars
The White House Correspondent's Dinner is one of the few times we get to so many Hollywood stars rub elbows with politicians. Every year, news sources get to choose big names to escort them to the dinner - so who's on the guest list this year?
Of course, the guest list is always up for discussion and usually points to trends at the time - Ozzy Osbourne was on the guest list in 2002, when The Osbournes was a hot reality show. Something tells us he's not going to be invited again soon.
Lindsay Lohan is the big surprise, given her recent troubles. Greta van Susteren of Fox has made the star ...

Uggie Dodges Retirement As Nintendo Spokesdog (See Video)
Is Uggie pulling a Steven Soderbergh?
The canine star of "The Artist" was supposedly going to be retiring from show business after making his appearance at the Oscars.
Well, now that "The Artist" took home a whole bunch of those Oscars, a lot of job offers are no doubt piling up in Uggie's doghouse -- which means plans for retiring to a life of lounging by the pool might've been a bit premature.
However, Uggie has gone in a rather unexpected direction following his scene-stealing turn in this year's Best Picture winner: he's gone and gotten himself an office day job.
Specifically, he...

Notable Oscar Nomination Predictions: And the Winners Are*
Last year, I wrote this whole piece about why The King’s Speech would beat out The Social Network for best picture. I found my own comments to be witty, on point. Genius. (I’m kidding… maybe). In fact, I love to go through the nomination list of the Academy Awards and Grammys every year and predict the winners, put up some jellybeans in a friend pool and brag about my winnings later.
The Grammys unfortunately are a joke, which is a huge shame given that music and the politics of it are my first love. The Oscars? Quite relevant, actually! My favorite writer (Grantland’s Bill Simmons) once s...

'The Artist's' Uggie Triumphs At Golden Collar Awards
The canine star of The Artist has seen off competition from Martin Scorsese's Hugo dog to win the top prize at the Golden Collar Awards.
The Goodfellas director campaigned to have Blackie the Doberman included in the nominations for Best Dog In A Theatrical Film at the annual prize giving, which recognizes the most talented animals in Hollywood.
However, even Scorsese couldn't secure his dog the top prize at the ceremony on Monday night as The Artist star Uggie took the coveted honor.
Other winners included Koko, the star of Australian movie Red Dog, who scooped the Best Dog in a Fore...

Washington and Jefferson preferred pooches, Lincoln and Kennedy were fond of felines, and McKinley and LBJ were batty for birds. This year-long campaign will determine the country's first-ever clear-cut choice for animal companion from one of three parties – dogs, cats and independents – and your pet could end up winning this really important decision in 2012.
Beginning February 20, Animal Planet wants you to visit an...

Mystery Illness Forces Uggie Into Early Retirement
Uggie, the charming Jack Russell terrier who pretty much stole every scene in "The Artist" (that little film that's up for ten Oscars) is suffering a mystery illness that looks like it will likely cut short his career. We know; it's terrible.
Last night, Uggie's trainer, 49-year-old Omar Von Muller, said the four-legged friend will retire after his appearance at the Academy Awards later this month.
"It's very sad, but he is suffering from a mystery shaking syndrome. It is a neurological disorder and we've spent thousands on vets' bills trying to figure out what is causing it, but the expe...

Scorsese wrote an open letter to the Los Angeles Times complaining about Blackie's snub, insisting his furry friend was just as deserving for a nomination as Uggie the Jack Russell, who has been recognized twice for his work in "The Artist" and "Water fo...
