'Firefly' Cast To Reunite At Comic-Con For 10th Anniversary

June 28th, 2012 10:21am EDT
Firefly
Joss Whedon and several cast members from his sci-fi drama "Firefly" will reunite for a panel discussion at Comic-Con in San Diego, Calif., in July.

The get together on July 13 will mark the show's 10th anniversary. The series was an "outer-space Western" set several centuries in the future. Nathan Fillion starred as Captain Mal Reynolds, a disillusioned interplanetary-war veteran and outlaw of the Alliance, the current ruling government. The series was canceled after just 14 episodes.

The Comic-Con panel will include stars Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Adam Baldwin, Sean Maher and Michael Fairma...

Maggie Q To Play Animated Wonder Woman

March 14th, 2012 9:12am EDT
Maggie Q
Maggie Q is set to become the latest actress to play Wonder Woman after signing on for a new animated TV series.

The actress will make her debut as the superheroine in Cartoon Network series "Young Justice" on March 24, according to TVGuide.com.

Maggie Q insists she was born to play Wonder Woman: "In my head I am her. No stretch there. When I was a kid, I used to dress up as her. I couldn't afford a costume, so I would make her headband, wristbands and the lasso out of paper and tape it to myself, and run around, climb up roofs and try to jump off them."

Wonder Woman has been portrayed b...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,' 'Carnage,' & More

December 12th, 2011 11:00am EST
Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies
Sadly, I haven’t caught last week’s pick yet: “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.” However I did have the misfortune of watching the David Gordon Green comedy “The Sitter,” which turned out to be a complete dud. If you haven’t already read my review, give it a look to find out why I think Jonah Hill deserves better.

Arriving in theaters this week are the Guy Ritchie sequel “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,” the Roman Polanski parental dramedy “Carnage,” the third Chipmunks adventure “Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked,” and the Roger Corman themed documentary “Corman’s World: Exploits of a...

Review: 'Transformers: Dark Of The Moon' Repeats A Tired Formula

July 2nd, 2011 10:45am EDT
Transformers 3
If we’re lucky, Michael Bay’s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” is the last film in his series. His bloated, 154 minute mess, borders on beating a dead…robot…in disguise… (Sorry, had to go there).

Does the third “Transformers” movie advance the story for Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) and his robotic friends? Yes. But does it do so in a fresh and engaging way? No.

“Dark of the Moon” repeats the same tired formula as its predecessors: poorly written dialogue, superficial female eye candy, and needlessly dangerous heroics.

Bay starts “Dark of the Moon” on the planet Cybertron, the home ...

It is a quiet normal day on Earth. FBI Agent Erica (aka Juliet from "Lost") wakes up to feel the world shaking a little, and she goes to check on her teenage son Tyler. ...

Today's Best TV Villains - Who's Your Favorite?

May 19th, 2009 9:22am EDT
Heroes
The idea of the villain is one that has existed as long as stories have been told. Whether it is a step-mother who wishes to destroy her husband's beautiful child, or a Shakespearean antagonist with a silver tongue who convinces a man to murder his own wife, they are as important as the protagonists that they torture. Yin to the main characters' yang, the villains can be evil, misunderstood, cruel, funny, charming, cold, or silly, but they provide a much needed balance to any given story.

Over the years television has had a wide variety of villains, but Starpulse decided to take a loo...

'Dollhouse' Recap Of The Season Finale

May 11th, 2009 10:55am EDT
Dollhouse
So the season finale of "Dollhouse" was aired last week, and fans of the show are filled with bittersweet anticipation as its fate is being decided. In all likelihood the show will be canceled by Fox in a few weeks, despite getting pleasing DVR and online numbers, but we were prepared for it from the beginning. After seeing the strong finale, however, it's sad to think this is the last venture into that creepy twisted utopia.

Alpha (Alan Tudyk) has broken into the Dollhouse, slashed up Victor's face, terrified Claire, and stolen Echo. With Echo he has taken all of the personalities sh...

Alpha Comes Out To Play On 'Dollhouse'

May 4th, 2009 1:00pm EDT
Dollhouse
Last week's "Dollhouse" marks a very exciting episode for Joss Whedon lovers, because an actor from one of his other famous TV shows appeared as a guest star. Alan Tudyk played Wash the pilot on "Firefly" and in the movie Serenity, and he is a close friend of Whedon. This makes three alumni from Whedon's work to appear, including Eliza Dushku (Echo) and Amy Acker (Claire). More please!

The episode starts out a little strange, since Echo is apparently being experimented on with a new kind of technology and speaking to a disturbed little girl. Topher explains that he's come up with a wa...

Joss Whedon & JJ Abrams
Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams have both played a significant role in fandom and overall media popularity. Their creative similarities are striking enough to call for a showdown, comparing their works and styles. Whedon and Abrams are both part of a new class of filmmakers and television creators: fanboys who are now able to reign over their own fandoms.

This battle royale has been divided into two rounds: television and casting. With more time and space films could have been conquered as well. This fight works best if you are familiar with their work. If you have not had the chance ...
