'Jeopardy!' Host Alex Trebek Breaks Guinness World Record

June 16th, 2014 3:07pm EDT
'Jeopardy!' Host Alex Trebek Breaks Guinness World Record
Alex Trebeck has hosted more game shows than anyone else, placing him in the Guiness Book of World Records. Friday's episode of "Jeopardy!" marked Trebek's record-breaking 6,829th episode. Guiness recognized him for "most game show episodes hosted by the same presenter (one show)."

Trebek, 73, began his gig on the cerebral series in 1984. But he has some stiff competition - "Wheel Of Fortune" host Pat Sajak has hosted his game show for 30 years and at 67 is still kicking.

“The record can, could and probably will be broken by someone else,” Trebek commented.

It's been speculated that Tre...

Now the teen feels "cheated" and embarassed. Even if he got it right he had no chance of winning as the leader that day landed a $66,000 payday and a new Kids Week record. (story)

Jeopardy
A Connecticut teenager is angry over losing on Jeopardy last week after misspelling the answer to the game show's "Final Jeopardy" question. Actually, we should say he misspelled the question to the "Final Jeopardy" answer.

Thomas Hurley III, of Newtown, CT, gave the correct question to the answer, "Abraham Lincoln called this document, which took effect in 1863, 'a fit and necessary war measure'" -- but host Alex Trebek ruled against him for misspelling the word 'emancipation'.

Hurley's answer, "What is the Emanciptation Proclamation" was judged incorrect because he added a "t" to the wo...

Watson Computer Beats Humans In 'Jeopardy!' Showdown (Video)

February 17th, 2011 11:00am EST
Jeopardy!
While it wasn't perfect, IBM's Watson computer was able to handily beat two of Jeopardy's greatest champions in a three-day competition. Watson had a total score of $77,147, topping Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter - who had $24,000 and $21,600, respectively.

Watson was dominant in song lyrics and book topics, but had trouble in geography and wording some answers properly. The web was abuzz when Watson questioned "What is leg?" to an answer about George Eyser's anatomical abnormality. Ken Jennings correctly questioned "What is he is missing a leg?" seconds later.
