'The Daily Show's' Police Assault Bikini

6/10/2015 3:42pm EDT
Jessica Williams' McKinney Bikini: 'Daily Show' Skewers Texas Po
Jessica Williams and "The Daily Show" just skewered the recent viral video out of McKinney, Texas- where a white police officer shoved a 14-year old girl to the ground and waved his gun at a group of unarmed black teenagers at a pool party.

Horrifying stuff. But as usual, "The Daily Show" flips the most upsetting stories of the day into some pretty terrific comedy.

For their McKinney bit, Williams appeared as the show's "Senior Texas Aquatics Correspondent" at a McKinney swimming pool (not really- she's just standing in front of a green screen). Williams wore a flowery pink bikini, a pair...

Melissa McCarthy Wears Dress With Jon Stewart's Face During 'Dai
Jon Stewart is leaving The Daily Show on Comedy Central later this year, and plenty of recent guests on the program have expressed their thanks for Stewart's work over the years. But on Wednesday, actress Melissa McCarthy may have come up with the funniest tribute yet.

McCarthy, who appeared on the show to promote her new movie Spy, wore a kimono-style dress that was covered with multiple images of Stewart's face.

Stewart reacted to the gag immediately, saying "You know, I've wanted to say this to you for a long time. I am all over you like a cheap suit."

Stewart asked McCarthy "What o...

Why Is Jon Stewart Leaving 'The Daily Show'?

2/11/2015 8:20am EST
Jon Stewart Leaving 'The Daily Show' This Year
After 17 years hosting "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," Jon Stewart is retiring.

Stewart dropped that bombshell on an unsuspecting audience last night, revealing that 2015 would be his last year hosting "The Daily Show."

Stewart's contract will expire in September, but it's not clear if he'll ride the contract out until the end, or call it quits earlier.

Why is our nation's premiere newsman/comedian/wacky late night host stepping down from the show that made him a household name? It's not 100% clear- but it sounds like Stewart's getting a little bored with the job.

In announcing his d...

Bill O'Reilly And Jon Stewart Have EPIC Fued Over 'White Privilege' On 'The Daily Show' – Watch

Bill O'Reilly And Jon Stewart Have EPIC Fued Over 'White Privile
Bill O'Reilly may have come to Jon Stewart's "Daily Show" to promote his book "Killing Patton" but their polite conversation took a turn for the worse and escalated into a verbal shouting match.

Stewart revealed he hadn't read the book the political commentator was there to promote.

Instead, Stewart asked the conservative if there was such a thing as "white privilege" as O'Reilly had already expressed the idea as untrue.

Said O'Reilly to the question posed by Stewart, "Okay, look, if there's white privilege, then there has to be Asian privilege because Asians make more money than whites....

'The Daily Show' Uses Kristen Schaal To Explain GOP's 'Winning T
According to "The Daily Show's" Jon Stewart, in the 2014 midterm elections, women will have the swing vote. Republicans will be working harder than ever to grab the female vote from Democrats. To prove his point, Stewart asked Senior Women's Issues Correspondent Kristen Schaal to voice her opinion.

Said Schaal, "Women don't see candidates as potential leaders, we see them as possible soul mates and Republicans are finally running ads to reflect that."

Stewart stated that women will be the deciding vote of which party is in control of the Senate.

"Usually women are a sure thing for Democ...

NBC Originally Wanted Jon Stewart To Host Iconic 'Meet The Press
Prior to hiring host Chuck Todd, NBC aggressively courted "The Daily Show's" Jon Stewart to take over the anchor chair for "Meet The Press."

Although not a formal journalist, Stewart has been known for asking tough questions with a lighthearted touch as host of "The Daily Show." The series has been honored a whopping 36 times at the Primetime Emmy Awards.

According to a report in New York Magazine, Stewart was courted vigorously by the network to take over the show. The story stated, "NBC was prepared to offer Stewart virtually anything to bring him over. They were ready to back the Brink...

Jon Stewart Returns To 'The Daily Show' After 12-Week Hiatus

9/4/2013 8:53am EDT
Jon Stewart
After taking the summer off, Jon Stewart returned to his "Daily Show" duties on Tuesday night. The comedian took a 12-week sabbatical in Jordan to work on the documentary "Rosewater" about Middle Eastern politics. His seat was filled by British comic John Oliver in his absence.

Stewart jokingly told the audience that he missed them: "You don't know what it's like out there in the real world. Nobody applauds every stupid little thing you do."

The late-night host showed up with a large beard and tan, and staff tried to Americanize him with a McDonald's Big Mac defribilator. Stephen Colbert ...

Jon Stewart And Stephen Colbert Open Shows By Honoring Boston

4/17/2013 3:07pm EDT
The Colbert Report
The Daily Show and The Colbert Report offered brief but powerful messages last night to those affected by the bombings at the Boston Marathon Monday.

"Once again having to start under just horrific events," Jon Stewart said in his opening to The Daily Show, in reference to his shows following 9/11 and the school shootings in Newtown, "Here in this country I really hate the fact that I can cross-reference my thoughts to other events that occurred over the years of a similar ilk.

"So I'm not going to, I'm just going to say this to Boston: Thank you for showing once again, in the face of gro...

Hugh Grant Agrees He Was A 'Crab' On 'Daily Show' Appearance

12/15/2012 4:00pm EST
Hugh Grant
Hugh Grant will never be a guest again on Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show." The host just revealed the British actor was his most unpleasant guest and isn't welcome back. But Grant isn't too upset by the declaration.

During an interview with fellow comedian Stephen Colbert at the Montclair Film Festival in New Jersey last week, Stewart opened up about his 2009 encounter with Grant, who was booked on the show to promote his film "Did You Hear About the Morgans?"

Stewart recalled, "He's giving everyone s**t the whole time, and he's a big pain in the a**."

Stewart was particularly irritated w...

Jon Stewart And Bill O'Reilly To 'Rumble' In Online Debate

9/19/2012 11:07am EDT
Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly
On October 6 at 8 PM, political pundits Bill O'Reilly of Fox News and Jon Stewart of Comedy Central will be going at it on an online debate on the upcoming election. The live stream will be available for $5, with proceeds going to charity.

While having a modicum of professional respect for one another, the two often play up the differences between their fan bases - mostly that they are on different sides of the political spectrum.

The two already traded barbs on O'Reilly's program. Said Bill, "We're going to be like we are in real life: Me very successful and you just barely hanging on...

Robert Pattinson Eats Ice Cream With Jon Stewart, Skirts Around Breakup Scandal

8/14/2012 9:51am EDT
Robert Pattinson
"What have you been up to?" Jon Stewart asked Robert Pattinson on Monday when the "Twilight" actor joined the comedic news anchor to discuss his new film "Cosmopolis." That's the million dollar question.

It was Pattinson's first TV interview since the world found out his girlfriend Kristen Stewart cheated on him with her "Snow White And The Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders.

Pattinson laughed and joked on "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart," sharing Ben & Jerry's ice cream with the host as Stewart indirectly asked the actor about the cheating scandal.

Pattinson confessed he was a bit unpre...

Stephen Colbert Hands Over PAC To Jon Stewart, Forms Presidential Exploratory Commitee

1/13/2012 11:00am EST
Stephen Colbert, The Colbert Report
After teasing a big announcement Wednesday night, Stephen Colbert used his time on the Colbert Report to close a loophole that would have kept him from running for President.

Current rules dictate that a candidate cannot also be the head of a Political Action Committee, nor can he or she tell the committee how to spend its money. Thanks to Citizens United, PACs can take infinite amounts of donations from corporations because they are now considered "people "in the eyes of American law, so having a PAC supporting you means big cash as a candidate.

So, Colbert simply tra...

After Hurricane Irene Most People Would Want Ellen DeGeneres To Entertain Them If They Ever Lost Power Again

9/8/2011 7:20pm EDT
Ellen DeGeneres
Millions of Americans along the east coast of the U.S. were affected last week as Hurricane Irene tore through their towns and cities, wreaking havoc with high winds & flooding and ultimately cutting off power to nearly six million people for several days.

While many were set apart from the outside world with no telephones, cell phones or internet service, people had to find a way to pass the time without their everyday amenities. And if it happened again most say they'd want daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres to be there with them.

Ellen was tops in a recent poll by GE Generator Syst...

Denis Leary Talks 'Rescue Me' Series Finale & His Role In The New 'Spider-Man'

9/6/2011 1:30pm EDT
Denis Leary 'Rescue Me' Series Finale
The tenth anniversary of 9/11 has been something the characters on Rescue Me have anticipated with trepidation. Now that it’s here, the show concludes its final season. Denis Leary met with the Television Critics Association over the summer to discuss the final episode, the real life issues still being addressed, and his role in next summer’s blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man.

Leary began as a ranting stand-up comic with a huge presence on MTV. Now that he’s also had success as a comic and dramatic actor, he hasn’t lost any of his bite. Wrapping up his FX series seems both practical and s...

5/10/2011 10:16pm EDT
Jon Stewart
Comedian Jon Stewart has revealed he was forbidden to use footage from last month's royal wedding on his hit news program The Daily Show - because officials feared he would mock the nuptials.

During a TV chat with British actress Keira Knightley on Monday, Stewart explained he had requested taped footage from inside Westminster Abbey in London on the big day - but the powers that be refused to let him have it.

He explained, "We were not allowed to even use the footage from inside the church. The royal family had put out, I guess they call them, a decree and they said that you are not allo...

Olivia Munn Turns Off Men?

1/25/2011 9:06am EST
Olivia Munn
Olivia Munn jokes about the strangest reasons a guy has given her for breaking up.

She said, "I would say people have broken up with me because they say, 'You just have to have sex too much.' That is what I want to go on the record. 'Hey, Olivia, sometimes you are too awesome and you want to have sex too much. And you cook all the time.'"

Olivia stars in the new NBC sitcom Perfect Couples, which airs on Thursday nights in the network's new three hour comedy block.

The actress rose to fame as co-host of the G4 television series "Attack of the Show!" before moving on as a news correspond...

Olivia Munn's Leather Skirt & See-Through Blouse - Hot Or Not?

Olivia Munn
Olivia Munn showed off her new short hairdo in a leather skirt & see-through blouse at the Marquee Nightclub Las Vegas Grand Opening Thursday night. We think she looks great, but a granny bra was a bad choice to wear under that blouse.

Olivia is set to star in the new NBC sitcom Perfect Couples, which will air on Thursday nights in the network's new three hour comedy block.

The actress rose to fame as co-host of the G4 television series "Attack of the Show!" before moving on as a news correspondent for "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart."

Oscar Producers: 'James Franco & Anne Hathaway Personify Next Generation Of Hollywood Icons'

11/30/2010 11:09am EST
James Franco & Anne Hathaway
It's that time of year again--time to announce the Academy Award host. I hear the groans already. Before you fire off a letter to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, you need to understand one thing. The Academy does not choose the host, it is the job of the Executive Producers to find the perfect host for the show. Did you stare at the TV screen hoping for a laugh from Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin last year? Blame Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic. Were Jon Stewart's two trips to the host podium a bore for you? Well, that was a Gil Cates decision twice over.

Yesterday, Anne H...

Rally to Restore Sanity/Fear
Comedy Central hasn't released any details yet on this weekend's event in Washington D.C. "The Rally To Restore Sanity and/or Fear," but a permit was issued by the National Park Service and made available to the public. In an article by the Christian Science Monitor, they have put together a partial schedule of events from the permit but there are still lots of unknown guests.

Questions have risen that Jon Stewart may "jump the shark" sort of speak, by crossing the line of comedic political commentator to actually participating. Stewart and Colbert are way too smart to fall into th...

Olivia Munn
Olivia Munn really wants to show you her comedic chops as the newest correspondent on The Daily Show, but first she needed to prove herself. The G4 star felt she needed to show she could make a joke to Daily Show host Jon Stewart, so she opened with - what else? - a Holocaust zinger.

"When we met, Jon mentioned being Jewish, and I asked, 'The Holocaust—did it really happen?'" she recalls. "I mean, clearly it happened, but that's my sense of humor, and it showed I could joke in that Daily Show way."

Munn recently released an autobiography titled Suck it, Wonder Woman! detailing her rise t...

Robin Williams makes his return to stand-up comedy in an HBO special airing this weekend. We'll get to see his full set Sunday night, but we spoke with him over the summer while he was just prepping.

In a year filled with celebrity deaths, scandals about our president's birth certificate and health care debates, Williams is sure to have plenty of material. He began trying out zingers in front of the Television Critics Association in August. He conceded it was a tough room and he had a lot more work ahead of him.

Then there's Williams' own history, with recent health problems threateni...
