Jon Stewart Returns To 'The Daily Show' After 12-Week Hiatus

September 4th, 2013 8:53am EDT
Jon Stewart
After taking the summer off, Jon Stewart returned to his "Daily Show" duties on Tuesday night. The comedian took a 12-week sabbatical in Jordan to work on the documentary "Rosewater" about Middle Eastern politics. His seat was filled by British comic John Oliver in his absence.

Stewart jokingly told the audience that he missed them: "You don't know what it's like out there in the real world. Nobody applauds every stupid little thing you do."

The late-night host showed up with a large beard and tan, and staff tried to Americanize him with a McDonald's Big Mac defribilator. Stephen Colbert ...

The Daily Show and The Colbert Report offered brief but powerful messages last night to those affected by the bombings at the Boston Marathon Monday.

"Once again having to start under just horrific events," Jon Stewart said in his opening to The Daily Show, in reference to his shows following 9/11 and the school shootings in Newtown, "Here in this country I really hate the fact that I can cross-reference my thoughts to other events that occurred over the years of a similar ilk.

"So I'm not going to, I'm just going to say this to Boston: Thank you for showing once again, in the face of gro...

Hugh Grant
Hugh Grant will never be a guest again on Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show." The host just revealed the British actor was his most unpleasant guest and isn't welcome back. But Grant isn't too upset by the declaration.

During an interview with fellow comedian Stephen Colbert at the Montclair Film Festival in New Jersey last week, Stewart opened up about his 2009 encounter with Grant, who was booked on the show to promote his film "Did You Hear About the Morgans?"

Stewart recalled, "He's giving everyone s**t the whole time, and he's a big pain in the a**."

While having a modicum of professional respect for one another, the two often play up the differences between their fan bases - mostly that they are on different sides of the political spectrum.

The two already traded barbs on O'Reilly's program. Said Bill, "We're going to be like we are in real life: Me very successful and you just barely hanging on...

"What have you been up to?" Jon Stewart asked Robert Pattinson on Monday when the "Twilight" actor joined the comedic news anchor to discuss his new film "Cosmopolis." That's the million dollar question.

It was Pattinson's first TV interview since the world found out his girlfriend Kristen Stewart cheated on him with her "Snow White And The Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders.

Pattinson laughed and joked on "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart," sharing Ben & Jerry's ice cream with the host as Stewart indirectly asked the actor about the cheating scandal.

Stephen Colbert Hands Over PAC To Jon Stewart, Forms Presidential Exploratory Commitee

January 13th, 2012 11:00am EST
Stephen Colbert, The Colbert Report
After teasing a big announcement Wednesday night, Stephen Colbert used his time on the Colbert Report to close a loophole that would have kept him from running for President.

Current rules dictate that a candidate cannot also be the head of a Political Action Committee, nor can he or she tell the committee how to spend its money. Thanks to Citizens United, PACs can take infinite amounts of donations from corporations because they are now considered "people "in the eyes of American law, so having a PAC supporting you means big cash as a candidate.

So, Colbert simply tra...

Donald Trump has accused Jon Stewart of being a racist because of political jokes made at the expense of Herman Cain.

Donald Trump is on the warpath again, and this time it is not Martha Stewart or Rosie O'Donnell who is feeling his wrath -- surprisingly, it is Jon Stewart.

The host of The Daily Show has won Emmys for his scathing political satire and criticism, but apparently Trump is not a fan -- going so far as to accuse Jon Stewart of racism. What?

Stewart, well-known as an equal opportunity critic, did a piece on last night's show mocking presidential candidate Herman Cain's weak de...
