Morgan Spurlock's 'Mansome' Gets Worst Reviews Of His Career
Morgan Spurlock shot onto the documentary scene with Super Size Me, but his career has been hit or miss ever since - and movie critics are saying his latest film, Mansome is defintely one to miss.
Perhaps inspired by recent advertisements blasting "manly" scents, drinks, or clothing, Spurlock set out to find what it means to be a man. The problem is, critics never really find the film's center. The documentary has the lowest RottenTomatoes rating of his filmography, below Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?
Some critic excerpts: "This complete waste of 82 minutes find...

Notes From Tribeca: Come And Get 'Mansome' With Jason Bateman, Will Arnett And Morgan Spurlock
I don’t know why documentaries always have to be so serious. Thank god for Morgan Spurlock. The man who brought us Super Size Me and Freakonomics is back with perhaps his funniest path to discovery yet. Mansome is exactly what it sounds like—an education course in male pampering and grooming.
Anchored by Arrested Development’s Jason Bateman and Will Arnett, Spurlock takes us through the different facets of prettying up in the new century. From waxing to moustaches, we get differing perspectives of male hair from today’s leading experts and celebrities such as Paul Rudd, Zach Galifianakis...

In addition to interviewing Fran Kranz and Kristen Connolly from “The Cabin in the Woods” last week, I also spoke with author Dana Fredsti about her new zombie book Plague Town, which comes out on Tuesday. We talked about her book, her connection to the cult classic “Army of Darkness,” and about this season of “The Walking Dead.” If you haven’t seen my interview yet, definitely check it out.
This week you’ll have the opportunity to see the “American Pie” gang back together again in “American Reunion,” the college comedy “Damsels in Distress,” the Morgan Spurlock documentary “Comic-Co...

Morgan Spurlock To Shave Off Moustache For 'Movember'
Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock has pledged to shave off his famous moustache at the end of November to help raise $5,000 for men's health issues.
As part of the 'Movember' movement, the Super Size Me star plans to join thousands of men who have started growing facial hair from scratch in a bid to grow moustaches and raise awareness about health matters like prostate cancer.
However, because Spurlock is currently in the middle of a new film project, which requires him to keep his facial hair, he has set up an online fundraising team for fans who want to contribute to the cause and ultimately ...

Morgan Spurlock Makes Comic-Con Documentary
Award-winning director Morgan Spurlock has bottled up the essence of Comic-Con for an upcoming documentary on the world-famous pop culture event.
The Super Size Me filmmaker followed seven die-hard fantasy fans as they wandered through the San Diego, California convention last year and chronicled their experiences in the movie, and accompanying book, Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope.
He tells Entertainment Weekly, "The idea of it was we were going to find different people who represented Comic-Con - an artist, a writer, a comic-book shop owner, a collector, someone who is competing in...

Interview/Review: Spurlock Speaks On 'The Greatest Movie Ever Sold'
With his latest movie "POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold" (opening April 22 from Sony Picture Classics), documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock is selling out – and he wants everyone to know it. Using money from various products shown in and around the film (headed by bold drink POM Wonderful of the title!) Spurlock’s movie is also an examination of such marketing and advertising practices and it’s an ironic conundrum indeed. Starpulse is celebrating the arrival of the picture with some candid chat with controversial documentarian Spurlock, followed by my five-star review...
READ MOREReview: 'The Greatest Movie Ever Sold' 'Two Jews On Film' Don't Buy Into This One (Video)
In 'The Greatest Movie Ever Sold', Morgan Spurlock, ('Super Size Me') takes us into the world of product placement, marketing and advertising. The full title of this documentary is actually 'POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold...because POM Wonderful is the major sponsor of this film.
So how interesting is the world of product placement? It seems now-a-days, most films, especially the big budget action ones, can't seem to exist without branding. (Bruce Willis puts on a pair of Ray-Bans before killing some bad guy, right?)...Spurlock explains that while using brands ...

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies - 'Water For Elephants,' 'Madea's Big Happy Family' & More
This weekend I was finally able to see the Duncan Jones sci-fi/thriller “Source Code,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal. After viewing it though, I’m fairly certain that Hollywood is attempting to compensate for mindless action flicks, by making ludicrously complex and confusing sci-fi movies like “Source Code.”
While the premise of a lone soldier being forced to travel back in time for 8 minutes at a clip sounds promising, the way that the tale is told, does not allow you to get emotionally invested in the characters.
As he did with his debut film “Moon,” Jones adeptly handles themes of isolat...

Review: 'Pom Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold' Is Hilarious, Thought Provoking
"POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold" is the new feature length documentary from “Super-Size Me” glutton Morgan Spurlock, this time tackling the fairly tight-lipped world of product integration and marketing.
He does this by making the entire movie about getting the funding for the movie he's making and you're watching. Basically it's Spurlock attending product strategy meetings in an attempt to sell the rights to specific parts of his film like the official airline, official beverage, official gas station, and so on. For example, the movie is called POM Wonderful Present...

REVIEW: 'WHERE IN THE WORLD IS OSAMA BIN LADEN' Provides More Than One May Think
Before I start, I’d like to say how this film fell through the cracks is beyond me. I recall having heard about it and perhaps reading about it as well, but my attention-span must have been working on low, because it faded quicker than the year this film was released at Sundance back in 2008. However, having come across some Sundance 2011 news, Morgan Spurlock’s name came back up as he was over at Park City, UT speaking to Sundance graduates, and to my luck, a list of Spurlock’s projects was provided—one of them being ‘WHERE IN THE WORLD IS OSAMA BIN LADEN?’—it caused a spark and I finally ...
