Kevin Smith Kicked Off Airplane For Being 'Too Fat' & A 'Safety Risk'

February 15th, 2010 8:29am EST
Kevin Smith
Heavyweight filmmaker Kevin Smith was left fuming on Saturday after he was asked to disembark a U.S. flight because he was "too fat."

The star and director of Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back boarded a Southwest Airlines plane from Oakland to Burbank, California at the weekend, but was furious when an air stewardess came over to share the captain's concern that he was a "safety risk."

In an angry post on his Twitter page, Smith writes, "I know I'm fat. But was (the flight captain) really justified in throwing me off a flight for which I was already seated?"

Southwest Airline rules st...

Is Kevin Smith In Trouble Over 'Dicks'?

September 28th, 2009 11:00am EDT
Kevin Smith Dicks
Kevin Smith's next movie, the buddy comedy A Couple of Dicks, may have to change its name. Some of the TV networks don't want to run ads for the double entendre title before 9PM, which would cut out most sports.

"If they're not going to play a spot before 9 p.m. it's like we've shut down an avenue, the main artery with which to kind of reach out to the core audience of this flick," Smith said. "So Warner Brothers was just like, 'I know that you guys didn't make this movie just to see it f*ckin' die with a title that we can't promote. The marketing people were brilliant inasmuch as they d...

Kevin Smith Blasts Bruce Willis At 'Dicks' Wrap Party

August 29th, 2009 5:14pm EDT
Kevin Smith
Hollywood filmmaker Kevin Smith sparked rumours of a feud with Bruce Willis by reportedly launching into a rant about the actor after he failed to show at an event for their new film A Couple of Dicks.

The action star was noticeably absent at a recent wrap party in New York, reports the National Enquirer.

According to the publication, the pair has been at odds over Willis' demands to add his own creative input to the film - and Smith took advantage of his star's absence to criticize him in a scathing toast.

Smith is said to have cheered, "I want to thank everyone who worked on he f...

Seth Rogen Buzzes About Gondry's 'Green Hornet'

March 23rd, 2009 8:52am EDT
Seth Rogen
The prospect of a Green Hornet film seems cursed. Christopher McQuarrie was writing a script in 2000 which had Jet Li attached as Kato. Then the surprise of comedian Kevin Smith writing and directing stalled with an unproduced script. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have been touting their script since SuperBad, but their first choice director, Stephen Chow, backed out.

Now, with yet another avant-garde twist, Green Hornet is still buzzing. "Michel Gondry is going to direct it," Rogen updated. "Me and Evan are in the process of rewriting it with him right now. We should start shooting it...

Attack Of The Comic Book Movies

February 12th, 2009 12:02pm EST
Watchmen
Bringing comic book heroes (and villains) to the big screen has meant big bucks for movie studios in recent years. With huge budgets and state of the art special effects, it's easier than ever for filmmakers to convincingly create the fantasy worlds that classic comic characters inhabit, both delighting die-hard "geeks," and captivating folks who've never picked up a comic book in their lives.

Comic book films have always been popular, dating back to the movie serials of the 1940s featuring Superman, Batman, and Flash Gordon, just to name a few. Christopher Reeve's "Superman" in 1978...

'The Dark Knight' Bestows Role of a Lifetime For Heath Ledger, Epic Proportions For Itself

July 17th, 2008 9:59am EDT
The Dark Knight
(Hollywoodchicago) – With only three short words comprising the film’s enigmatic title, “The Dark Knight” also boasts three epic claims to fame: the role of a lifetime for the late Heath Ledger as the hauntingly deranged Joker, one of the best films of 2008 and one of the greatest superhero films of all time.

In a year when Hollywood has the superhero woody comparable to when westerns where the greatest thing since sliced bread, “The Dark Knight” not only fares well against blockbuster competition with films like “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk” but also manages to rise above chart...

Funny Film Cameos

June 2nd, 2008 10:13am EDT
Ben Stiller
A cameo used to refer to a famous person who made an appearance in a film as him or herself. Now actors play small parts as a character in a film for comic relief. Most cameos are non-credited due to the shortness of the screen time or because they are so famous they don't need a big credit. Some are publicity stunts. Others pay tribute to that actor's work in a similar role, but they are all for the most part hilarious. Following are 10 of film's funniest cameos in no particular order:

DVD Review: This Film is Not Yet Rated

This Film is Not Yet Rated
One of the wonderful things about DVD is that it can be a catalyst for discovery.

I first heard about This Film is Not Yet Rated at the Nuart Theater in Los Angeles nearly 2 years ago. I missed it in its limited theater engagement but recently found a copy at a local DVD store. Documentaries, good documentaries, can be tricky to see in the theater if they are not mainstream or don't have a major studio behind them. Stalk your local Blockbuster or Best Buy is you must, but everyone, especially aspiring filmmakers, should see this film.

The Devil's Reject: 'Reaper' Season 1 Review

Reaper
Buffy 2: The Hellmouth Strikes Back?

Due to the supernatural element of the show and its deft mix of horror and lighthearted comedy, "Reaper" has been compared to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" by critics and couch potatoes alike. While Joss Whedon's masterpiece is often referenced when discussing new shows, the comparison actually makes some sense in this case.

Sam is an ordinary youth who one day is thrust into a supernatural world and presented with a quest. His life is suddenly anything but mundane. He has to keep the mission a secret, although he does have several trusted f...

Director Kevin Smith was left red-faced after a female fan asked him to sign her butt. The filmmaker, whose movies include Dogma and flop Jersey Girl, was attending a special screening of his cult film Clerks, in his hometown of New Jersey when he was asked to put pen to cheek.

However, embarrassed Smith declined her unusual request, saying: “I don’t sign body parts ma’am.”
