Adam Shankman Insists Kate Holmes and Tom Cruise Are 'Incredibly Happy' Since Divorce

March 13th, 2013 10:13am EDT
Adam Shankman
Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are "incredibly happy" since splitting last year, according to director Adam Shankman.

Holmes stunned Hollywood when she filed for divorce from the Top Gun actor, the father of her six-year-old daughter Suri, in June after five years of marriage.

The estranged couple reached a divorce settlement less than a month later and the divorce case was closed in August - and Shankman, who directed Cruise in movie musical Rock of Ages, insists the stars are doing well since their split.

He tells UsMagazine.com, "They are incredibly happy. I've just been emailing with...

Adam Shankman, producer of "The Last Song," was so thrilled by Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's engagement that it made him cry. He also takes a little bit of credit for their romance.

Miley & Liam met on the set of the film in 2009, and Shankman was witness to their budding relationship from day one.

He told People.com, ""I sort of want a finder's fee for Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. I cannot tell you. It made me cry. I remember that first day of shooting when they first kissed and Miley walked by my sister (producer Jennifer Gibgot) after they shot the kissing scene. She goes, 'This ...

May 31st, 2011 5:00pm EDT
Rock of Ages
Earlier this month producers announced Alec Baldwin is indeed playing Los Angeles nightclub boss Dennis Dupree in the film "Rock of Ages."

The "30 Rock" star reportedly dropped out of the film due to a mysterious illness, but he's officially back on board - and he's definitely embracing the part in this photo (he's sitting next to Russell Brand) posted by director Adam Shankman.

In the film, two love-struck dreamers fall in love during the height of the hair-metal scene as they navigate the seedy world of drugs, mullets, and stripping while at a club on the Sunset Strip. The film is an ad...

'So You Think You Can Dance' Season 7 - Lauren Wins!

August 13th, 2010 9:24am EDT
SYTYCD Ellen
We’re here. It’s ending. Before we can pull the plug on two dancers’ dreams we’re going to sit through an intensive look at this past season whether we like it or not. Although we were served a healthy dose of Season 7 montage last night, we weren’t treated to many surprises. Tonight, however, was different.

The opening number featured all top 11 and the Allstars. It was strong and dramatic jazz that had everything you want in a piece that kicks off the finale show including a cheeky little section that paid obvious tribute to the talented but injured Alex Wong. They literally wheeled him ...

'So You Think You Can Dance' Season 7: Finale Part One

August 12th, 2010 9:12am EDT
SYTYCD Final 3
It’s been a busy past few weeks. We’ve seen the departure of Jose, Billy and Adechike, not to mention some excellent pieces and moving routines. We are at the end – down to three dancers that were a little worrisome at the start of this competition. Robert with his pretty boy looks and carbon copy Billy Bell technique initially seemed to be a strong contender that was destined to leave in the final weeks. Lauren the recent high school cheerleader with acrobatic skills to spare began as a jailbait tease with some cutesy moves and not much personality. Kent was a small town hick with some Pod...

"Glee" creator Ryan Murphy attended the Television Critics Association fall press tour and gave fans a lot to think about in the upcoming season. Check out part one of the interview, and read what else he had to say:

Any plans for Emmy night? What are you wearing?

RM: You know, I have no idea what I’m wearing. I begged the other executive producers to all wear track suits and go Sue Sylvester. So far they’re like okay, we’ll think about that. I’m like wait, how did I get so brave. That’s my dream that we would walk in together dressed as Sue Sylvester.

If that doesn’t happen, do you have...

'SYTYCD' Season 7 Week 8 - Top 5 Perform

July 28th, 2010 10:56pm EDT
Lauren and Alison teamed up for a Broadway number
After a two week hiatus due to conflicting schedules and no access to a TV or DVR, the profile of the latest season of 'So You Think You Can Dance' is back. Within the past two weeks we lost another stellar dancer to injury as Ashley went home to rest her injured rib cage. We also saw the first no-elimination week with no warning last time. It seemed like Billy, Robert or Jose was in trouble – and Billy even declined to perform due to another injury! Nigel obviously saw the mix of fan favorites and talented competitors and made an executive decision. No one went home last week. Which means ...

'So You Think You Can Dance' Season 7: 1 of 8 Voted Off

Natasha Bedingfiel
The show opened with a group number filled with fog, angels, and boys in long white skirts. Mia Michaels choreographed the routine to a slow paced Sting song. It was understated and pretty with lots of reaching and modern arms. It’s then noted that SYTYCD was nominated for three Emmys today (Legacy and Katherine last season, Mia Michaels’ three pieces from season 5, and the makeup crew). Woohoo. It’s also noted the ‘Glee’ was nominated 19 times. A FOX show promoting another FOX show? How surprising. Later, they also plugged auditions for the next season of ‘American Idol.’

'So You Think You Can Dance' Season 7: Final 8 Perform

Lauren + Kent
Remember the elimination episode last week where Melinda was finally sent away? If you don’t, there’s another less deserved change they introduced for Season 7. This week each contestant will perform two dances – one with an Allstar, one with another contestant.

Sadly, there were no Alex performances tonight. He wasn’t dancing due to an injury. Oh sweet Jesus, when Nigel said “ruptured Achilles tendon” it hurt my Achilles. This means he may have a season ending injury if not career ending (if not taken care of properly). He’ll be in the bottom three this week and if he cannot dance next w...

'So You Think You Can Dance' Season 7: Melinda Eliminated, 8 Remain

SYTYCD Final 8
You cannot get any more dramatic in song than ‘O Fortuna’ from Carmina Burana. Unless you add an authentic 18th century white ruffled collar of royalty to your costume. SYTYCD did one better. The sleeved mesh on the boys put it over the top. The slow and controlled jazz/lyrical hybrid opening number was heavy on the Alex and I think Ashley. They’re opening the show with more group numbers that feature soloists. I like. Especially since we’re still getting to know each remaining dancer.

Next week there’s a new setup for the show. All remaining dancers will perform two routines. In one, the...

Film bosses have scrapped plans to bring movie-musical Hairspray back for a sequel. Executives at the New Line studio commissioned the screenwriter behind the 2007 film, John Waters, to create a script for a follow-up, with plans to bring Zac Efron back to star in a second picture.

In December, Waters revealed he had completed the job, telling Australia's The Herald Sun, "They liked it. They paid me. That's the last I've heard of it... They asked me to write the treatment but I'm so obsessive I wrote every single thing that could happen to every character. It's different. You can't tell t...

The top 20 contestants are about to engage in the sixth So You Think You Can Dance competition on Fox. Right now, it's anybody's game. Even head judge and producer Nygel Lythgoe couldn't predict a front runner.

"I have no idea," Lythgoe said. "I wouldn't have even told you that Jeanine, who I thought was very good, would have won and I think she only won on the finale. I thought Brandon was going to win from quite early on. I thought Evan stood a very good chance if he was to grow, and he didn't grow for me, so I couldn't tell you now. I don't even know half of the kids yet."

'So You Think You Can Dance' Goes To Vegas

So You Think You Can Dance
Yay, it's Vegas time on "So You Think You Can Dance." This means that the truly bad dancing is over, but it also means the judges become incredibly harsh since they have to cut 152 dancers in just a few days. If they seem snappish and mean at times, you have to remember how much pressure that number is. Only twenty move on, 10 girls and 10 boys. It would make more sense that all the top dancers are the ones they focused on during the auditions, but then that would be giving it away.

The judges include Mia, Lil C, Adam Shankman, and Debbie Allen along with Nigel and Mary. Mia is probabl...

Surely one of the top twenty and ten and maybe even the winner will be memorable from the auditions, but you never know. They could probably get through all the cities a lot faster than this if they didn't want to milk it so badly. How do you know they are milking it? When they have Sex have a dance battle with an equally horrible dancer for entertainment. Just put us out of our misery now.

They also added a new element this year that says the highest voted dancer of the non-winning gender will get $50,000. For example, a male won this year, so the highest voted female got this prize. This is an exciting new element to the show, and it means that every year both genders will be win in some ...

America has voted and it has finally happened - a hip hop dancer made it into the top four of "So You Think You Can Dance!" Not just one, but two. This is getting ahead of the game, but it has been quite a journey for hip hop on this show. Some of the most impressive dancers can pop and twirl on their heads, but they struggle with the technical aspects of Latin, ballroom, and contemporary during the competition. Every year they seem to learn other styles and impress the judges but just barely lose out to the better trained dancers. Not this time around!
