Peter Sellers
Songs for Swingin' Sellers
Release Date: 1959
Label: Parlophone Records
Rating:

Not all that music-oriented, despite the title. Which is no big deal, as this contains some of his best sketches. These include a spot-on parody of a BBC critics' roundtable, an interview with a typically foul-mouthed writer, a straight-faced description of an incomprehensible play, and a lengthy pick-up sequence with the talented comedienne Irene Handl. Musically, the highlight is "Puttin' on the Smile," which mocks the then-young folk boom by interviewing an unsufferably hip and untalented troubadour. The LP was reissued in its entirety as part of the Celebration of Sellers box. Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide
