Marilyn Manson Distances Himself From Rape Video

11/21/2014 8:42am EST
Marilyn Manson
Marilyn Manson says he wasn't part of a music video that features Lana Del Rey being raped. The singer insists the video includes spliced footage from separate promos.

Filmmaker Eli Roth mentioned the video, shot last year, during a recent interview with Larry King. The footage was leaked online Thursday.

The video begins with a dinner party that turns chaotic as guests begin throwing furniture around. The promo then cuts to Del Rey who is being pinned down on a bed by a man. She struggles and screams until the attacker puts his hand over her mouth. When he finally walks away, the underwe...

Director Eli Roth Shares Details Of Recent Octopus Bite & 2009 Sea Urchin 'Attack'

5/3/2013 5:36pm EDT
Eli Roth
Actor/director Eli Roth doesn't have a very good track record with sea creatures.

The Inglourious Basterds star was bitten on the pinky finger by an octopus while on vacation in Hawaii last week, an incident he recalled during a visit to the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Thursday night.

Roth says he was scooter snorkeling with his girlfriend and when their guide pointed out the cephalopod he thought it was harmless. And protecting treasure.

"Our guide was like, 'Look! There's an octopus!' So I look and there was a beautiful, baby octopus," he explained. "So, naturally when I see an octop...

Eli Roth Quentin Tarantino
Director Quentin Tarantino once saved actor/director Eli Roth from danger after he was drugged by two women he met at a Las Vegas nightclub.

Roth was partying with his pal Tarantino and Wu-Tang Clan rapper RZA some years ago when he almost fell victim to the female duo, posing as mother and daughter, who were out to steal all of his pricey possessions.

During an interview on Fox Vegas, he explains, "We went to Vegas and we went to a party and there was an after party at a club. It was really fun, it was really chill and then I had a drink and there was like a mother and a daughter and t...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,' 'Carnage,' & More

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies
Sadly, I haven’t caught last week’s pick yet: “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.” However I did have the misfortune of watching the David Gordon Green comedy “The Sitter,” which turned out to be a complete dud. If you haven’t already read my review, give it a look to find out why I think Jonah Hill deserves better.

Arriving in theaters this week are the Guy Ritchie sequel “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,” the Roman Polanski parental dramedy “Carnage,” the third Chipmunks adventure “Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked,” and the Roger Corman themed documentary “Corman’s World: Exploits of a...

Film Independent At LACMA Review - 'Corman's World: Exploits Of A Hollywood Rebel' Inspiring But Incomplete

11/14/2011 3:10pm EST
Roger corman
Anyone doing a documentary on infamous B-movie master Roger Corman has got a plethora of product to draw from. As the driving force behind over three hundred plus titles equal parts good, bad and ugly, Corman’s career as both director and producer spans decades and the sheer magnitude of his body of work is both a blessing and a curse for newbie doc filmmaker Alex Stapleton and her flick "Corman's World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel" – inspiring but incomplete.

Corman’s story is one of an outsider deciding to embrace going against the grain. After working on an early Fox picture titled ...

Does Eli Roth Have An 'Evil Gene'?

10/29/2011 12:00pm EDT
Eli Roth
Actor/director Eli Roth is no stranger to exploring the nature of evil. As a master of horror with films like "Inglorious Basterds" and "Hostel," Roth turns his lens to research possibly the most horrifying monster of them all - the average American.

In Curiosity's "How Evil are You?," Roth sets out to recreate the infamous Milgram experiment to see how, or if, the results have changed. Roth himself even undergoes tests and scans to see if he carries what researchers dub "the evil gene."

So does Hollywood's famous horror director have a little extra "edge" in his craft?

The show pre...

Eli Roth-MTO-002280.jpg
Horror director Eli Roth is offering his recently-removed wisdom teeth to a fan in a bizarre online contest.

The Hostel moviemaker underwent surgery to take out the molars earlier this week and has been keeping his Twitter followers updated about his condition.

And he's giving one fan the chance to own the teeth if they think up a good use for them.

In a series of posts on his Twitter blog, Roth writes, "Wisdom teeth: gone. Who wants 'em? Either of these would make a lovely necklace or pair of earrings. You could proudly display my wisdom. Teeth. Whoever has the most fun, creative idea g...

Eli Roth's Maze Of Terror At Universal Is 'Not For Kids'

8/3/2011 8:14am EDT
Eli Roth
Moviemaker Eli Roth has warned horror fans not to take their kids into his maze of terror during Universal Studios theme park's Halloween celebrations this year because the attraction is strictly R-rated.

The "Hostel" director has been working on the idea with Universal bosses for the past eight months, and he's convinced it will shock and terrify the hardiest film fan when it opens in the run-up to October 31 at the California theme park.

Roth has been a regular at the park's annual month of horror nights and the Eyegore Awards, which launch the freaky festivities, for over a decade and ...

'The Last Exorcism' Poster Banned In Britain

11/5/2010 8:28am EDT
Eli Roth
A poster for Eli Roth's horror movie The Last Exorcism has been banned in the U.K. by officials who ruled it was "likely to upset children."

A graphic promo picture for the film, which was released in Britain in September, upset some cinema goers and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received a number of complaints over the shot.

Film fans claimed the graphic image of a young girl doubled over with her dress covered in blood was distressing and unsuitable for public display - and chiefs at the advertising watchdog have agreed with the complainants. They ruled that the offensive ...

31 Days Of Horror, The Final Chapter: 'Interview With The Vampire,' 'The Stuff,' 'Hostel'

11/2/2010 11:05am EDT
Interview with the Vampire
Oct 29 – Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994): When Twlight hit it big a couple of years ago, the main complaint about the series was that it sissified vampires. After all, Stephanie Meyer’s brood of moody nightwalkers is an attractive bunch, one that sparkles in the sunlight and pines over high school crushes—traits that don’t really cut an intimidating figure. But when you look back on vampires in popular culture, they have always been an effete bunch of nocturnal dandies. So complaints that Robert Pattison was too pretty and too teenie-bopper to play an effective vam...

"But both are h...

31 Days Of Horror: 'Motel Hell' (1980)

10/27/2010 8:39pm EDT
If there’s a common consensus amongst horror movies it’s that rednecks are complete lunatics out to eat your skin. It doesn’t matter if it’s a ghost story or a slasher flick, if there’s a backwoods hillbilly involved then he probably wants to do something really horrible to someone. Occasionally a director will come along and subvert that expectation a bit, like Eli Roth does at the end of Cabin Fever, but overall the lesson is this: Don’t leave the city, don’t talk to the yokels, and for the love of Christ learn how to change a tire.

I bring this up because today’s movie, Motel Hell, foll...

Alec Baldwin, Kellan Lutz & Other Stars Oppose McDonald's Slaughtering Method

10/5/2010 9:45am EDT
Alec Baldwin
Alec Baldwin, Anjelica Huston and Kellan Lutz are among the stars who have signed a petition urging McDonald's bosses to adopt a less cruel chicken slaughter method.

The trio was among the stars who agreed to be part of the PETA 30th anniversary petition.

The stars want McDonald's chiefs to heed the advice of the company's own advisory board and switch to the much less violent chicken slaughter method that McDonald's already uses in Europe.

According to PETA, McDonald's suppliers cut chickens' throats while they are conscious and scald birds to death in defeathering tanks.

31 Days Of Horror Weekend Round-Up: "Let The Right One In," "Cabin Fever," "The Beyond"

10/4/2010 11:27am EDT
Let The Right One In
Oct. 1 – Let the Right One In (2008): Sometimes it’s better to be unsettling than scary. Horror movies have an unfortunate tendency to forgo mood in favor jumps scares and graphic violence, and for the most part, these simpler elements have a lessened effect and will wash off of viewers like water from a duck (or blood from a tarp). It’s easy to give a kid nightmares, but it’s a real challenge to crawl under the skin and leave you feeling covered in a thin film.

"Let The Right One Slip In" - Morrissey

The 2008 vampire cult hit Let the Right One In falls in the latter category....

31 Days Of Horror 2010: Third Times The Harm... 3D

10/1/2010 11:15am EDT
31 Days of Horror (Vampyr)
Greetings ghouls, goblins and basement dwellers!

Unless you’re in Southern California (113 degrees this week!) the weather is starting to cool off and the neighborhood trees are just starting to throw on their fall colors. The month of October means different things to all types of people: sports fans have football season hitting its stride, food-blog types have new vegetables to shill, kids have a lot of school to attend--which kind of sucks for them. For me the month of October means watching an unhealthy amount of horror movies.

For the past two years, I’ve watched a horror movie I had...

Eli Roth's Pet 'Micro-Pig' Upsetting His Neighbors

9/7/2010 8:17am EDT
Eli Roth
Horror director Eli Roth's pet pig is causing a disturbance in his swanky Los Angeles neighborhood, because it won't stop screeching.

The Hostel filmmaker is the proud owner of a miniature pig but admits the creature has caused him a lot of problems with his famous neighbors.

He tells Britain's Empire magazine, "I recently got a micro-pig, and my pig is so loud, it screeches like a hawk. I tried to take it for a walk, so it goes down the stairs, then it starts screaming. My neighbors come out of their house and they think that I'm stabbing someone. So I point to my micro-pig and say, 'I...

Eli Roth Blasts Critics That Don't 'Understand' His Movies

9/5/2010 5:00pm EDT
Eli Roth
Director Eli Roth has slammed critics of his horror films, accusing reviewers of failing to "understand" his movies.

The actor/filmmaker gained notoriety with his graphic 2005 slasher movie Hostel, which provoked a storm of controversy and led some film critics to label the shocking project "torture porn."

But the star insists reviewers are just not interested in watching horror movies.

He says, "I think the term 'torture porn'... says more about the critics than it does about the film and their complete lack of understanding or frankly interest in those types of movies."

The Last Exorcism

The folks marketing 'The Last Exorcism' decided to mess with pimple faced teenagers surfing Chatroulette. No doubt to talk to girls and try to see some nudity. At first it appears they are getting their wish, but it soon takes a wicked turn. Their reactions have had me crying from laughter. Check it out below and let me know what you guys think.

Eli Roth's Bloody Bar Mitzvah

8/11/2010 10:30pm EDT
Eli Roth
Horror movie director Eli Roth got an early start in the genre by turning his Jewish Bar Mitzvah into a blood bath - his mum hired a magician to saw him in half.

The "Hostel" filmmaker was into gore and guts at an early age - and refused to take part in the traditional coming-of-age ceremony unless his parents helped him perform the stunt.

But Roth's extended family didn't get the joke when fake blood started pouring from the stage props, and they started screaming in horror.

He says: "I have cousins in Scarsdale (New York) who are still traumatised to this day from that Bar Mitzvah...

Bob Geldof's daughter Peaches has no plans to marry her boyfriend Eli Roth, insisting rumors of an impending wedding are "made up lies".

British tabloid reports suggested the 21-year-old is planning to exchange vows with the Inglourious Basterds star in the New Year - less than a year after they began dating.

The pair was said to be planning a traditional Jewish ceremony on a New York rooftop and Roth's pal Quentin Tarantino was even named as one of the invited guests.

But the socialite has taken to her page to deny the gossip, writing: "Just so everyone knows, Eli and I are ...

The rock offspring has been in a relationship with the "Hostel" moviemaker since March, and she's now said to be ready to walk down the aisle with the 38 year old - despite the 17-year age difference.

According to Britain's The Sun, the couple will marry in a Jewish ceremony in front of 50 guests in New York in the New Year.

A source tells the publication, "We wouldn't be surprised if they started a family together very soon. They are confident t...

Moviemaker and actor Eli Roth is still suffering from his near-death experience over the New Year when he was stung by deadly sea urchins - the star underwent surgery on Wednesday to remove one of the creature's spikes.

Roth managed to swim to a rock, only to find it was covered with poisonous urchins and he was stung 200 times. And now, months after the horrendous attack, Roth is still undergoing treatment for his injuries.

Peaches Geldof Dating Eli Roth?

3/9/2010 7:00pm EST

British socialite Peaches Geldof has sparked rumors she's dating actor/director Eli Roth - after the pair was photographed holding hands at an Academy Awards after-party.

The 20-year-old daughter of Bob Geldof was pictured on the red carpet of the Vanity Fair post-Oscars party in Los Angeles on Sunday night with the Hostel director, who appears in Oscar-nominated movie Inglourious Basterds.

Trailer Talk: 'Inglourious Basterds,' 'Post Grad' & More

8/17/2009 10:23am EDT
Inglourious Basterds
This weekend "500 Days of Summer" became my favorite movie of the season. The film's non-linear style of romantic storytelling works incredibly well. Jumping back and forth through various days in Tom and Summer's relationship is a fascinating way to get to know the couple.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Tom with an awkward charm that other lovesick fools can identify with. Much like a typical heartbroken lover, Tom finds himself bogged down remembering the positive parts of his relationship but forgetting the trials and tribulations.

While the film is not a typical love story filled w...
