Zack Snyder and Gerard Butler
You awaken to a rabid 8 year old viciously chewing on your husband’s neck. A dark army, more than a million strong, bears down upon you and your kingdom. You are in the strange and violent world of Zack Snyder. Hang on; you’re in for a wild ride.

Zack Snyder, the director of the upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel, has had the strangest start to a career of any director in recent memory. Dawn of the Dead, 300, Watchmen, Le...

31 Days Of Horror Weekend Round-Up #4: 'Nosferatu The Vampyre,' 'The Wolfman,' 'Survival Of The Dead'

October 25th, 2010 11:33pm EDT
Nosferatu the Vampyr
Oct 22 – Nosferatu The Vampyre (1979): In the hands of any other director, a sexed up remake of the silent classic Nosferatu would probably end up being the kind of groan-inducing hack-work we’ve come to expect from Hollywood. Complete with an A-list celebrity donning the ookie Dracula make-up and ripping out the throat of some up-and-coming young talent—Oh right, like what Francis Ford Coppola did in Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Almost forgot about that one. But in the hands of a mad genius director like Werner Herzog, what we get instead is a sexed up version of Nosferatu that’s also a spellbin...

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies - 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,' 'Sex and the City 2,' & More

May 24th, 2010 8:36am EDT
Sex and the City 2
The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston screened the independent film “Holy Rollers” last week so I had the chance to check it out. Based on a true story, "Holy Rollers" stars Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Bartha as Hasidic Jews who become drug smugglers. Eisenberg is fantastic as a man of faith conflicted by his new lifestyle, but the rest of his character Sam Gold is his standard awkward type casting. Justin Bartha is also believably sleazy and conniving as Sam's mentor Yosef. While its plot is intriguing, my overall opinion of it is brought down by the uninspired dialogue between its charac...

The show's executive producer, Glenn Gordon Caron, has bought the rights to George A. Romero's Night Of The Living Dead and plans to use the film as a backdrop for the upcoming special.

He says, "We're going to insert Patricia into it. It's going to be sort of the landscape of her dreams during that particular episode."

And horror film fan Arquette is thrilled: "I was so excited about it because I love that movie... When I was a teenager i...

A Salute To The Head Explosion

September 23rd, 2008 11:40am EDT
Deadly Friend
When it comes to body parts that can explode, your head is ripe for the picking. Not only is it large and filled with goo, it perches atop of your shoulders begging for something to come along and smash it. Movie makers have known this fact for a long time. Nothing quite gets an audience going like a well placed exploding head. David Cronenberg's Scanners probably has the most oft-referenced scene, as it's one of the few mainstream horror films to give us a detailed and goopy exploding melon. Belloq's fate in Raiders of the Lost Ark even goes to show that Oscar winning directors aren't abov...
