Andy Samberg Sued Over Rihanna And Seth Rogen 'SNL' Skits

November 4th, 2011 3:28pm EDT
Andy Samberg
Funnyman Andy Samberg is facing allegations of copyright infringement over two songs he performed with Rihanna and Seth Rogen on hit comedy show Saturday Night Live.

Musicians Aleric Banks, aka Rick Tha Ruler, and Monique Hines claim they composed the music Samberg and his The Lonely Island band mates used on their Rihanna collaboration Shy Ronnie and the Rogen-assisted Like a Boss.

The duo accuses Samberg of taking the tunes and putting his own comedic lyrics to them for musical skits on SNL.

The digital shorts, which aired in 2009, have since become big hits on - Like a ...

Seth Rogen To Star In Phone Sex Movie With New Wife

November 3rd, 2011 8:15pm EDT
Seth Rogen
Actor Seth Rogen has landed a raunchy role in his wife Lauren Miller's new comedy - as a saucy airplane pilot.

The funnyman recently began shooting scenes for upcoming movie "For a Good Time, Call...," and admits it was the first time he has had a chance to work with Miller, who he married last month.

He tells Esquire magazine, "She (Miller) wrote this movie called 'For a Good Time, Call...' about two girls who start a phone sex line, and I play one of the callers, an airplane pilot.

"We were figuring what kind of people would actually call phone sex lines and we thought airplane pilots ...

Seth Rogen got married over the weekend to longtime girlfriend and writer Lauren Miller, confirms Us Weekly. The 50/50 star celebrated the occasion with several friends from the Judd Apatow circle of comedians.

Guests to the Jewish wedding at Kunde Estate in Sonoma, California included Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, Craig Robinson, Judd Apatow and wife Leslie Mann.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's '50/50' Head Shaving Scene Was Improvised

September 30th, 2011 2:00pm EDT
Movie 50 50
The posters for the new movie 50/50 already give away one of the major scenes. Joseph Gordon-Levitt shaves his head on camera. He plays a man coping with a cancer in which he has a 50 percent chance of surviving. Seth Rogen plays his supportive friend, and as the film’s producer joked about the iconic scene.

“We did it twice, six months apart,” Rogen said while doing press at the Toronto International Film Festival. “Yeah, we only could do that once and we improvised it for the most part, which could’ve been the stupidest thing anyone’s ever done because we really could only do it once.”

Q&A: Seth Rogen & Will Reiser Talk '50/50,' Head Shaving & Self Improvement

September 29th, 2011 2:00pm EDT
50 50
Hollywood doesn’t generally show young people dealing with cancer, especially not 20-somethings like Adam (Joseph Gordon-Levitt). And if it’s going to explore such a serious topic, it’s almost certainly not going to make light of the situation like “50/50.”

Adam doesn’t drink, he doesn’t smoke, and he definitely doesn’t do drugs. It comes as a huge surprise then, when he is diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, and told he has a 50 percent chance of beating it. To brave the fight, Adam must lean on his best friend Kyle (Seth Rogen), who seems more interested in picking up women and ...

Seth Rogen Calls Barbra Streisand Mom, Dumps Yvonne Strahovsky In 'My Mother's Curse'

September 28th, 2011 3:00pm EDT
Seth Rogen in My Mothers Curse
Seth Rogen has had many comedy costars: Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, James Franco. Next he has a true diva. Barbra Streisand plays his mother in My Mother’s Curse. Not many people get to call Babs mom.

“I didn’t call her that that often but it was great,” Rogen said while promoting this week’s new release 50/50 at the Toronto International Film Festival. “We actually worked very well together I think. It was a lot like Joe [Gordon-Levitt] in that she really was into being a comedy team. She really embraced the idea that it was a buddy comedy with a mother and son.”

The duo goes on...

'50/50' Review: 'Two Jews On Film' Cheer This Beautiful Heartfelt Dramedy' (Video)

September 28th, 2011 11:00am EDT
A doctor tells a young man he has cancer - a tumor. The man replies 'Tumor...Me?' The doctor says 'yes'. The man responds...'That's impossible...I don't smoke...I don't drink...I recycle.'

The young man is Adam Lerner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and he not only has cancer...but he has a super rare cancer...a giant tumor growing along his spine and his chances are...50-50.

So what does a person do with this kind of news? Well, writer Will Reiser, the real life person that this happened to, turned his life threatening disease, into a very funny, very touching and very beautiful movie entitled...

Review: Equal Parts Storytelling And Acting Give Powerful '50/50' Real Resonance

September 26th, 2011 6:00pm EDT
50/50 photo
I recently spotted an ad for "50/50" which proudly proclaimed 'brought to you by the guys who did Superbad' – bad move. Not that there isn’t some Seth Rogen-esk humor within or some amusing levity brought to the morose subject of cancer, but the true impact behind the brilliance of "50/50" lies in its drama.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as Adam, a young man who has a great life, good friends and a wonderful girlfriend. But at the early age of twenty-seven he finds his life altered virtually overnight when he is suddenly diagnosed with cancer. It’s proves to be a whole new world for Adam w...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - '50/50,' 'Dream House,' & More

September 26th, 2011 12:00pm EDT
Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies 50/50
After hearing all the hype about “Drive,” I couldn’t believe how much I hated it. It starts out promising: director Nicolas Winding Refn has some cool backseat perspectives of the driver (Ryan Gosling), and a sleek electronic soundtrack gives his shots of LA a seedy, neon glow.

However the directing quickly becomes pretentious, since Refn frequently reuses the same types of shots. Then the 80s style pop starts to feel COMPLETELY wrong, especially when you’re hit by unexpected, excessive violence on screen. These things would be more tolerable though, if the film effectively built drama...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Moneyball,' 'Abduction,' & More

September 19th, 2011 11:00am EDT
Last week I didn’t screen any new movies, but I had a chance to conduct some awesome interviews. I talked with Jonah Hill on Monday about his role in “Moneyball” and Seth Rogen on Wednesday for his upcoming film “50/50.” Look out this week for my Jonah Hill interview and the next for mine with Seth Rogen.

Hollywood loves movies inspired by true stories this week, since they represent four of the six opening in theaters. You’ll have the opportunity to see the Brad Pitt baseball vehicle “Moneyball,” the Taylor Lautner espionage thriller “Abduction,” the Gerard Butler redemption tale “Mac...

The end of the year is always the most exciting time for true movie lovers as the studios release the films they hope to compete in the race for the many awards shows that will happen early next year. This September will have some decent films to choose from (namely "Contagion" and "Drive"), but with a greater amount of less-than-impressive fare than is normally seen. Either way, this first month in the awards season will have moviegoers flocking to the cinema nearly every weekend.

Shocking And Funny New '50/50' Movie Poster!

July 13th, 2011 1:30pm EDT
50/50 poster
With a poster that's as shocking and funny as the film itself, the new cancer themed dramatic comedy "50/50" has a new one sheet and it's a trip indeed. The movie, which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a man who finds out he has cancer, is a clever mix of serious drama with bits of humor to add levity. (See Seth Rogen!) The flick also stars Anna Kendrick as Gordon-Levitt's counselor, Bryce Dallas Howard as his girlfriend and features a stand-out performance by the mighty Anjelica Huston as his over-protective mother. (Her best work since "The Grifters!") In any case the film does bring b...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'The Hangover Part II,' 'Kung Fu Panda 2,' & More

May 23rd, 2011 10:00am EDT
The Hangover Part II
Johnny Depp set sail again last week as Captain Jack Sparrow in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” the fourth entry in the series. After viewing the movie, I can honestly say that it’s not the best in the franchise, but certainly not the worst either. While nothing can really top the first one in my mind, this one gets back to the spirit of the original.

Captain Jack runs into an old love interest, Angelica (Penelope Cruz), who convinces him to join her on a quest for the Fountain of Youth. Sparrow unwittingly climbs aboard the vessel of Angelica’s father, Blackbeard (Ian M...

Review: Seth Rogen Steals Scenes With Caustic Sarcasm In 'Paul'

March 18th, 2011 12:38pm EDT
If E.T. spent enough time on Earth adapting to our language and customs, he probably would have become a wisecracking rebel just like Paul, the title character in director Greg Mottola’s latest buddy comedy. This alien with attitude, voiced by the gravelly Seth Rogen, steals scenes with his caustic sarcasm, penchant for practical jokes, and his gross personal habits. Paul is neither naive nor innocent, but his maturity or lack thereof is what makes him so hilarious.

While Rogen is humorous in the film, it helps that Brits Simon Pegg and Nick Frost pen the screenplay for “Paul.” The two...

March 17th, 2011 9:11am EDT
Megan Fox
"Transformers" beauty Megan Fox is swapping action for comedy - she's in talks to star in the sequel to Judd Apatow's box office hit "Knocked Up."

Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann are set to reprise their roles in the 2007 film, which originally featured Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl as expectant parents dealing with the consequences of a one-night stand. Rudd enjoyed a supporting role as Heigl's onscreen brother-in-law, with Mann, Apatow's real-life spouse, playing his movie wife.

Details about the role Fox is in negotiations for have not been released, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

A source told US Weekly, "[he] went on a diet for the movie, but gained weight at first!"

"Finally, he got a nutritionist and a trainer. Now he looks better and feels better."

Kevin Smith Credits Seth Rogen For 'Re-Energizing' His Career

February 11th, 2011 11:32am EST
Kevin Smith
Director Kevin Smith credits actor Seth Rogen with helping to revitalize his career - by indulging in on-set dope-smoking sessions.

The moviemaker worked with the Knocked Up star in box office flop Zack and Miri Make a Porno, which only managed to double its $24 million budget when it opened in 2008.

However, Smith insists the experience was worth it for one reason - he smoked pot during filming. Rogen, who admits he is a regular cannabis user, smoked continuously on-set and urged Smith to join him in a bid to boost his creativity. And the director insists his new found hobby has "re-e...

Seth Rogen Found 'Green Hornet' Radio Programs Outdated

January 27th, 2011 4:19pm EST
Seth Rogen
Seth Rogen struggled to listen to "Green Hornet" radio clips from the 1930s as he prepared to star as the masked crimefighter on film because the programs were so slow and "outdated."

The funnyman thoroughly researched the vigilante's past incarnations before writing his movie script, sitting down to watch the original 1960s TV series as he gathered his ideas together.

But he admits his patience was put to the test when listening to the Green Hornet radio show, which debuted in 1936.

He tells, "We tried to listen to almost all the radio serials, but they're a little outdate...

George Lucas Told Seth Rogen The World Will End In 2012

January 18th, 2011 9:10am EST
George Lucas
Funnyman Seth Rogen was left stunned by a recent encounter with his moviemaking hero George Lucas because the "Star Wars" director spent 20 minutes telling him the world would end in 2012.

Rogen was left speechless when Lucas and Steven Spielberg joined a movie meeting he was a part of - but the encounter has left him worried his life will be over next year.

He recalls, "George Lucas sits down and seriously proceeds to talk for around 25 minutes about how he thinks the world is gonna end in the year 2012, like, for real. He thinks it.

"He's going on about the tectonic plates and all the ...

Gondry's 3-D Visuals Spoiled By Dull Humor In 'The Green Hornet'

January 14th, 2011 9:41am EST
The Green Hornet
“The Green Hornet” blends the playful visual style of director Michel Gondry (“Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”), with the humor of writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (“Superbad”). You might think the combination of these creative forces would be a recipe for success however the end result is rather lackluster. There are some cool 3-D fight scenes in “The Green Hornet,” which are largely marred by unintelligent jokes.

Rogen and Goldberg adapt The Green Hornet superhero made popular by a 1960s television series and a 1930s radio series created by George W. Trendle. According to t...

Cameron Diaz
Cameron Diaz is hooked on golf, which she insists on playing barefoot.

She explained, "I've been golfing for about eight years but I hadn't golfed for, like, three years until recently... because it's kind of like crack cocaine to me... I'm getting my clubs fitted... and I'm very excited."

Cameron plays the leading lady in the new Green Hornet film. Lenore is the secretary to Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) at The Daily Sentinel, and both Reid and Kato (Jay Chou) have a crush on her. Diaz decided that neither one of them should get the girl.

Seth Rogen Based 'The Green Hornet' On Paris Hilton

January 12th, 2011 6:42am EST
Seth Rogen
Seth Rogen's masked crime fighter The Green Hornet was inspired by an unlikely muse - hotel heiress Paris Hilton.

The funnyman reveals he was influenced by the blonde socialite while developing his character Britt Reid, the playboy son of a wealthy media mogul who eventually transforms into a superhero.

He tells, "We kind of based him off (sic) a male Paris Hilton, as embarrassing as that is to say."

"That is what we looked at - those people who are the sons or daughters of people who have accomplished great things. We probably give them a little more credit than they've gotten i...

The romantic rivalry may threaten their friendship, but Diaz decided that neither one of them should get the girl.

“It relieved the story of having to wrap up that storyline which is usually what kills the end of a movie,” Diaz said. “It takes Lenore from then having to choose between the romance or the taking care of the villain. It just relieved the whole movie of that burden which I think we rea...
