Hours after sources claimed Brad Pitt would be headed to London to film scenes for Sherlock Holmes, a studio rep has come forward to brand the story as "inaccurate."

Usmagazine.com was told by the rep "The report in today’s London Mirror is completely inaccurate. Brad Pitt is not joining the cast of Sherlock Holmes and we're extremely pleased with the production of the film. As planned, it will be released on Christmas Day, 2009. Brad Pitt will be in London Tuesday to begin playing Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes' nemesis, for the new film starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.

Usmagazine.com reports that Guy Ritchie, who directed Pitt in Snatch, decided to add him to the cast after watching the first edit of the film.

Sherlock Holmes was due in theaters this December, but has now been pushed back to 2010.
