"The Avengers" Los Angeles premiere was a star-studded event yesterday. Scarlett Johansson, who plays Black Widow, opted for a simple strapless black dress, while Robert Downey Jr. popped in a purple suit.

In the film, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and the international agency S.H.I.E.L.D. bring together a team of super humans to form The Avengers. Their mission? To help save the Earth from Loki (Tom Hiddleston) & his army. "The Avengers" will be closing the Tribeca Film Festival with a special screening April 28, and then will hit theaters May 4.

Actor Jeremy Renner's eight-month-old French bulldog died over the weekend after succumbing to scorching temperatures at a baseball game.

The Hurt Locker star's business partner, who was babysitting Franklin, took the pooch to his nephew's Little League game in Los Angeles.

According to TMZ.com, the extreme heat proved too much for Renner's pet, who started vomiting and convulsing.

He passed away despite several attempts to revive him.

Jeremy Renner's representative has dismissed reports suggesting star was caught up in a Thai bar brawl, insisting he was able to leave the place before violence erupted.

The "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" star was with pals in Phuket when one of the party, named as Vorasit Issara, reportedly dropped a glass on the floor.

The incident prompted a scuffle between another group of men, said to work at the bar, and Issara was stabbed in the neck and stomach.

Local news reports, obtained by TMZ.com, suggest Renner "walked away with minor injuries," while Issara is recovering in a hospital in Bangkok.

Tom Cruise returns to his Ethan Hunt character popularized by the previous three installments with this fourth entry, "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," produced by J.J. Abrams.

The actor and his producing partner Don Handfield have formed a production company solely interested in bringing The Great Escape star's life to the big screen.
