Ted Danson Recalls Skipping Work & Getting High With 'Cheers' Cast

September 28th, 2012 9:24am EDT
Ted Danson
Several years ago, Ted Danson, Woody Harrelson, George Wendt and John Ratzenberger didn't show up to the set of "Cheers" because they wanted to get high.

The actors called in sick and went boating off the coast of California instead. Danson told GQ magazine, "The guys were just (like), 'Let's play hooky.' We'd never done anything wrong before. John had a boat, so we met at Marina del Rey at 8 a.m. We all called in sick."

Their leisurely day off turned bad quickly after too much drug use and a hurricane caused problems.

"Woody and I were already stoned, and Woody said, 'You want to try so...

Newman's car character will not appear in the new movie, but Newman and Doc will be honored, according to director John Lasseter.

He tells the Los Angeles Times' 24 Frames blog, "We have a lovely tribute to Paul in the movie, but we didn't feel it would be right to include him or the character."

This Week's Movie Buzz: See It, Rent It, Or Skip It?

May 26th, 2009 8:57am EDT
This week is probably the least exciting of the summer movie season so far because we don't have an epic blockbuster premiering. There are three movies coming out, two of which are mainstream releases. Pixar fans will be happy to see the group's latest animated feature, and Sam Raimi aficionados will get their fix with something that thankfully isn't another "Spider-Man" movie.

While I tend to like Pixar's movies, I never generally get super excited about seeing them in the movie theater. Aside from "Wall-E" and "Toy Story," which I saw in theaters, I've enjoyed their other films ...

The Travel Channel Needs A Complete Overhaul

August 19th, 2008 9:11am EDT
Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations
The Travel Channel is one of cable's niche networks. Like its companions The Food Network, The History Channel, or even something like Court TV, Travel is aimed at a specific demographic - in this case those interested in exploring the globe.

Like travel literature or periodicals like Outdoor Magazine, The Travel Channel is just another fix for those in the mood for some armchair traveling. Since its inception in 1987 it has produced a handful of stellar programs and introduced the world to televised poker (hard to say if this was a net positive). Yet 20 years later the network seems ...

'WALL-E' Earns Accolade as 2008’s First Perfect Film

June 26th, 2008 9:24am EDT
(Hollywoodchicago) – While perfection can be characterized in many ways, there’s only one way to define perfect in the world of film: a picture that has everything you could ask for with nothing you could cut. The man with the ingeniously imaginative story and the decisive direction to be credited with every inch of success “WALL-E” is destined to reap is none other than Andrew Stanton.

Indeed, Stanton is intimately familiar with w...
