Dennis Quaid Fronts Medical Documentary

April 15th, 2010 4:30pm EDT
Dennis Quaid
Dennis Quaid is fronting a new documentary in a bid to prevent medical errors - three years after his newborn twins were given a drug overdose which almost killed them.

The actor's 12-day-old babies, little Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, were left fighting for their lives after being given near-lethal doses of a blood thinner when a tired nurse working at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Hospital picked up the wrong bottles of Heparin in 2007. California state regulators ruled hospital staff had been negligent and fined them, awarding Quaid and his wife Kimberly $750,000 in damages in December 2008...

Former NFL star and "Today Show" correspondent Tiki Barber has become the latest male celebrity embroiled in a cheating scandal. Like Tiger Woods and Jesse James before him, Tiki will be subjected to intense media scrutiny and heavily criticized by women everywhere, including the whole cast of "The View." While it may seem like only male celebrities cheat on their partners due to these recent cheating scandals involving high-profile male celebrities, female celebrities are just as guilty when it comes to committing adultery.

Gary Cooper
With the baseball playoffs in full swing, it's time to take a look at actors who have stepped up to the plate and taken on the challenge of portraying a real-life hardball legend. While there have been many great movies and portrayals about diamond life (Kevin Costner in "Bull Durham" springs to mind), a select few actors have hit the field in fact-based baseball films.

Gary Cooper as Lou Gehrig

In the revered biopic "The Pride of the Yankees," Cooper steps into the shoes of the Yankees icon and deftly handles all the off-the-field developments (diagnosis of ALS, "Luckiest Man Alive"...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Surrogates,' 'Pandorum' & More

September 22nd, 2009 10:27am EDT
I'm curious to see the reception of "Surrogates," at the box office this week. People I have spoken with seem to have mixed opinions about whether they think the movie will be enjoyable or not.

Their interest level in the movie seems to be linked to which trailer they have seen. Trailer 1 appears to be rather bland and doesn't do much to entice the viewer. Folks who have seen Trailer 2 however, agree that it does a better job of selling the concepts present in the film, as well as emphasizing Bruce Willis' struggle without his surrogate.

In addition to the sci-fi thriller "Surr...

Review: 'G.I. Joe: The Rise Of The Cobra' Is Pretty Damn Entertaining

August 7th, 2009 2:23pm EDT
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
When comparing "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" to that awful fellow Hasbro monstrosity "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," "Joe" plays out like a goddamn Federico Fellini film. Coherent plot, well established characters, discernible action sequences (Also: no racist robot caricatures, so there's that). It's always kind of fun to write a negative review - especially when the studio doesn't screen it for said writer, early. Unfortunately, for those purposes, "G.I. Joe" is kinda, sorta ... good (!?) This wasn't the way it was supposed to be. THIS WASN'T THE WAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE!

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies 7/26 - 8/1

August 3rd, 2009 11:08am EDT
G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra
Over the weekend, I caught Judd Apatow's new film "Funny People" starring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen. "Funny People" lived up to my expectations; it's funny at points with an appropriate seriousness that's present throughout the movie.

I thoroughly enjoyed the bond that Sandler and Rogen's characters form over the course of the film. Rogen plays a socially awkward comic struggling to find his way, and Sandler is a jaded celebrity trying to make meaning out of his tragic situation. I was surprised by how unlikable Sandler's character is at points, revealing that his problems in life a...

British actress Sienna Miller accidentally set her chest on fire when an explosion went awry as she filmed new movie G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.

The Alfie star, who donned a black leather catsuit for her role as villainous Baroness, admits one scene left her painfully singed after a spectacular special effect mis-fired.

She says, "Luckily it wasn't my breasts, it was the bit in-between. It got a bit burnt when an explosion got a bit close."

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra - which also stars Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Rachel Nichols - is due in theat...

Bosses at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center have agreed to pay Dennis Quaid's twins $250,000 each as part of a settlement related to the babies' near-fatal blood thinner overdose controversy.

Little Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace had to fight for life just 12 days after they were born in 2007 when a labelling mix-up led to a hospital nurse incorrectly administering an overdose of the drug Heparin to them.

Quaid and his wife Kimberley Buffington settled their dispute with the hospital in December, but lawyers for the couple insisted that wasn't enough, explaining the babies have not...

Similar Story Smackdown: Which Hollywood Flicks Came Out On Top?

April 27th, 2009 11:57am EDT
Saving Private Ryan
So, have you seen this year's comedy about an overweight, overzealous, loser-y mall cop who takes his job way too seriously and is hopelessly in love with a fellow shopping center employee? If you're not sure whether I'm referring to January's hit Paul Blart: Mall Cop or the newest Seth Rogen comedy Observe and Report (in theaters now), don't be too hard on yourself: Both flicks have eerily similar plotlines. This isn't the first time two films with the same subject matter have been released within a year of one another; Hollywood has a talent for redundancy (see: recycling and ripping off)...

February 21st, 2009 5:10pm EST
Julia Roberts
Julia Roberts is grateful to have shared screen time with prank-loving actors Richard Gere and Mel Gibson because their onset antics gave her early insight into the male psyche.

And the movie star, who is now married to cameraman Danny Moder, admits that developing a platonic bond with the leading men helped her gain confidence around the opposite sex.

Acting has cost Dennis Quaid his title as the world's top celebrity golfer - he thinks Samuel L. Jackson deserves the crown.
