'Desperate Housewives' Shawn Pyfrom has revealed his battle with drugs and alcohol.
The 27-year-old actor has talked about his battles with addiction in the wake of the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was found dead of an apparent drug overdose in New York yesterday (02.02.14).
Shawn - who played character Marcia Cross' son Andrew Van de Kamp in the TV series - wrote on his Tumblr blog: "I just read the news about mr. philip seymour hoffman, and against the advise of others; i had to write this open letter. i can't stay quiet anymore about this...

27-year-old actor Shawn Pyfrom has confessed he was hooked on drugs and alcohol but has decided to tell all about his issues following the sudden death of Philip Seymour Hoffman.

On Sunday, Capote actor Hoffman was found dead after an apparent drug overdose, and the tragedy has stunned Pyfrom into going public with his own battle with addiction.

Actor Shawn Pyfrom is stepping down from hit TV show Desperate Housewives as a regular castmember to pursue other projects.

The 22 year old has been portraying Andrew Van De Kamp, the gay son of actress Marcia Cross' character, on the program since its inception in 2004. But Pyfrom will not feature as heavily in the upcoming sixth series as he attempts to branch out into other acting jobs, according to
